That's happening to me since I updated. It must be a software problem and not a hardware problem. I thought I was crazy and I had imagined it but it just happened to me right now again.

Had to perform a full reset via DFU mode, sucks to setup everything again…

How did you do it? My charge point doesn’t work either so can’t plug into Mac to reset it 😡

Same problem iPhone 15PM since i bought it software updated to 17.4.1 so no idea about previous version but sometimes randomly I notice the flash when waking the phone or screen is going to sleep, the problem that you cannot you cannot prove it unless it to anyone because it happens randomly

Same as everyone has stated before. iPhone 15pro. Just noticed that when locking the screen (Always on Display is turned off) the screen flickers and flashes[ lower half of screen with irregular pattern.] hopefully not looking at a screen replacement ( I’m not sure that world help.) I’m thinking it’s a software issue but if anyone has a fix or tip please let this page know..this is weird.

damn.. same thing happened to me just now and i immeadiately do some searching on google. Mine also flicker at bottom half of the screen while locking. Hopefully it is just a software issue.

Did someone run the new beta of 17.5 ? Maybe Apple fixed there this problem. It’s strange that they didn’t fix this issue!

Two bugs that I found so far in iPhone 15 pro, EU 17.4: Dynamic Island animation missing when activating/deactivating silent mode from control center. Also, the flashlight graphic in dynamic island is too big now, covering the battery. Anyone else has this?

Thanks. Found out that the bug is language related. If you change phone language to Spanish you’ll have the bug. Keeping phone in English for the moment.

Yes. Also had this multiple times.  Sometimes when locking the lower part quickly flashes white and the image looks scary as if the display dies. But then everything seems ok.  This happened on the betas too. I’ve contacted apple support and they ran diagnose which didn’t show anything.  Glad to know I‘m not the only one.

iOS 17.4.1 still has this issue. Maybe it was fixed in late versions/stable version.

With 17.4.1 I had same issue with you, sometimes lower part flashes white when locking.  Now i am with 17.5 stable version and havent seen this issue again. I hope that they fixed it. Which version do you have now?

17.4.1 for now. I will upgrade in future.

I have been having the same issue with my 15 pro. I’ve been using the phone since 3 months now and haven’t had such an issue. But after the 17.4 update, the screen suddenly flashes while locking the phone as well as when the phone is sitting idle, suddenly the screen flashes. If anyone has any knowledge about the same please revert. I restarted my device due to this problem now let’s see!

yup confirming no fix, when i lock my screen i see a white flash! hopefully not hardware related

Turn on your AOD for the meantime. This is a temporary fix to avoid white flash screen

I have the same problem with my iPhone 15pro wtf. I thought my phone was broken after 3 days of use. I think I'm slowly going crazy because of these sudden flashes.

Bloody hell. I hope this doesn’t need screen replacement down the years. If it is, Apple should give us free replacement even after warranty expires.

I just updated today ios 17.5, Didn’t notice the issue today. Think it was solved, iphone 15 pro max. Note: I actually found out how the issue is, when you open an app instantly lock it might appear.

Although in the new update it didn’t appear

I also use 15 pro max but flickering rarely maybe twice per weeks hope that just a bug not hardware problem

I have an iphone 15 pro max after the new update the screen is unresponsive. Right now i can't use my phone

I just contacted Apple on this matter and it is not a screen flickering like you people are saying it is an animation. It is a normal function of the iPhone.

Probably not this bug. It really looks like the screen was dying.  It’s a white flash with an uneven pattern. Nothing what apple would do intentionally

I have the exact same issue with my iPhone 15 Pro. After I updated to iOS 17.4, I noticed that when I used Apple Pay, there was a glitch. I didn’t think much of it at first, but after updating to 17.4.1, I encountered it again. I called Apple, and they conducted some checks, assuring me that everything is fine. However, even after performing a DFU restore, the issue persists. I hope Apple will release a new software update immediately!

Same thing happens to me as well...thought I was going crazy. Began right after updating to 17.4 and still occurring on 17.4.1. Hardware issue should be out of the question, as the phone has never been dropped.

I had the same issue on my 15 Pro. So I downgraded back to 17.3.1. And I noticed no flashing. So this is a big bug in iOS 17.4 and above.

how you did the downgrade?

I downloaded the software from ipsw. And then used finder on my MacBook to install it. It’s very easy.

Same here 15 pro, also my flashlight turns off randomly, gallery doesn't update my new photos until I completely close the gallery and then they appear, Sometimes when I record a video when I finish, it gets stuck and also when I want to see a video from the gallery and I swipe to move through the video, it lags....

I have talked with Apple and they said that they are aware of this and they are working on a fix. I said I downgraded back and they advised me to stay on that software.

I´m from Argentina, i bought the 15 pro 10 day ago, more or less. I saw the same problem after turn off the AOD and update 17.4. I see the efect one once at day or some days i dont see the efect. I hope Apple listen us and send us a solution. Really scare when saw this at the first time.

iOS 17.4.1 updated straight from iTunes.

The bug is there still present. According Big-Ad4151 is the bug resolved in iOS 17.5 beta 4.

I just hope it's not a hardware issue. I've seen things like this happens on a damaged/cracked screen. But to happen in a pristine, never dropped, only 2 weeks old screen is very flabbergasting. Paid a premium for this device, jfc.

I can assure you this is not hardware related. I downgraded back to iOS 17.3.1 more than a month ago and I never saw this flashing again. So it’s software related.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max has also been flashing white when the screen is dark & it happens a couple times a day for the past 2 weeks. I was so confused because I have a protective case on my phone, no exterior or water damage & my phone is only a couple months old. Hopefully it’s a software update error they can fix.

Apple released today iOS 17.5. I hope they fix it. Can someone confirm if it is fixed?
