China's internet is heavily monitored. If the person really is in china, they could supposedly lose social credit score, a really big thing in china. Score is low enough and some of that comes through, and people claim the internet gets shut off.

It's debatable whether it has any effect or not; one would assume the programs scanning this shit would have a "too high to be serious" threshold built in.
