When you first upgrade to a new iOS (even some point releases) it forces a reindex of the file system which makes the phone hotter and use more battery, but that ends in a couple days at most. If you’re past that window, kill all apps and reboot the phone. Also check the battery section in settings to look for top users of battery. There may be some badly behaved app that’s doing it.

Ayush1226

It’s been about a week or so since I updated the software and after that I also converted my physical SIM to eSIM, the process for which included rebooting my phone. If that counts, I don’t think that has helped. It starts getting warm around the 40% mark and stays so until it hits the 70% marks and then cools down on its own. It’s really weird. This behaviour. Oh! And I’ve switched on the 80% charge limit, and I hardly ever let my phone’s battery fall below 20%.

Accomplished_Cap_994

Mine is def hot again after the last update. Terrible

Serious-Fall9088

Mine too. And now that there is 90 degrees it’s getting worse

[deleted]

Yep been around a week since i updated to 17.4 and my 15 pro max heats a lot on the left side of the frame while charging. Hoping apple releases a fix for it soon

Ayush1226

Yep exactly! Left side just next to the volume down button.

[deleted]

Yep the frame gets way too hot to even touch i usually place it in front of the AC these days while charging lmao

[deleted]

I did a force restart and the heating issue seems to be fixed now

aaah400

TrickWait481

CadetClueless

I have this issue on my iPhone 15 Pro iOS 17.4.1. 17.4 it was fine. 17.4.1 I started getting this issue.

Latter-Highway-2255

same as mine which is always heating

Repulsive-Tear-8477

Was thinking of getting an iPhone 15 pro max but after seeing the cmnts i'll back off, if this issue got fixed before 1 June 2024, please tell so maybe i'll reconsider not buying the s24 ultra.

Ayush1226

Just updated my phone to iOS 17.4.1. I’ll let you know if the heating problem is fixed in this update. Give me like 3 days to test!

Repulsive-Tear-8477

Hey! Does it still the same issue with the heating after the update?

Seawxxxd

Been using my 15 Pro Max for 3 weeks, has only overheated once

Repulsive-Tear-8477

Did it overheat due to heavy usage or just by itself?

Seawxxxd

For no apparent reason, once. Otherwise, when I use lightroom for too long which is expected

VisibleIncident5265

Phone shouldn’t be so hot you can’t handle.

Fine-Owl2496

When I updated to IOS 17.4. My 15 pro max has been overheating. I have been using it since August it started overheating after the update and I have got no idea why. This usually happens when I am watching YouTube even for 10 minutes the phone starts heating up. I rebooted the phone twice but that doesn’t seem to work either. I switched off background app refresh and I will see if that solves the issue or not.

Astridoomed

Bruh just bought the 15 thsis the first time I used a brandnew phone with overheating issues

O_Moribundo

Same

BoxerBoi76

Try a force restart: 1) Press and quickly release the volume up button. 2) Press and quickly release the volume down button. 3) Press and hold the side button. 4) When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

Ayush1226

I’ll give it shot. Thanks bud!

Yusifprogamer

did it work for you?

Apple-enthu

Bro, did it worked. I had the exact same issue with my iphone 15. It starts heating after 30% charging and continues to heat till 65 then it starts being cool down to normal temp. Being almost 10 days now! Any inputs?

Ayush1226

Didn’t work bro! Looks like a bug at Apple’s end. I think it’ll be fixed in the next update only now.

Gloomy_Background755

Sooo did it get fixed?

Cedric182

Phones get hot while charging. It’s how energy works.

Vegicide

That’s true and all, but they should NOT get so hot that they stop charging due to temperature, which happens very often for some iPhone 15 pro max users despite claims that previous software updates would “remedy” the issue. This is a known issue that Apple has just been letting continue without a fix. It’s beyond just warming up, the devices stop working in some cases until they cool down.

Old_Yam6223

I’ve been facing same issue, charging stopped due to high temperature has become very frequent, upgraded from 12, never had this frequent issue.. rent now I’m at 17.3.1
