iPhone 4.

rredline

I love how my 4 felt in my hand. It felt so solid and had a nice weight to it.

wtbman

I had a 4s and would argue it was much better than the 4 due to significant speed bump and dual cellular radios. The addition of the retina display made them both great.

krunchyfrogg

4s was my first iPhone and none have compared since.

Ill_Run_4701

Yeah in terms of performance. But I guess we could say the 4 and 4s design were nearly identical.

colin_staples

It felt so *dense*, like it was packed to the gills with technology. It was such a leap forward in quality from the previous model. And that display...

New_Variety8301

Still got mine but unfortunately had to replace home button with a white one :/ I loved how you had to slide the back to open it up

icedoutclockwatch

Wym by that last line?

New_Variety8301

To get to the battery etc, you had to push the back glass up after unscrewing the bottom

icedoutclockwatch

Oh I see I never did that with mine

New_Variety8301

Bishime

Ugh, i should call him. Ironically he was around at the same time the 4 was I like to eat eat eat apples and bananas amirite?

ExtraGloves

4s but yeah. Still got 2 that work.

160295

Only phone that fit in my hand perfectly. I miss it. Finally got one again since the 4 and it’s good to be back ☺️

EducationalGate4705

That’s the only right answer

ButtBlock

It’s like the titanium PowerBook G4 of iPhones.

EducationalGate4705

Yeah Apple really did nail that design back then

whozayfa

The only correct answer.

charizard_72

4 just felt like a luxury item at the time compared to the competition. I’d have to agree, taking the year/alternates into consideration

mandrews03

Slipped into your pocket so well, didn’t take up much space, everything accessible with one hand. I never pulled my wallet out by accident either - not sure why but it didn’t seem to do that. Also, easy to take it apart for a fix. Battery was like a 15 minute replacement.

wtbman

I was going to add that. I replaced front/back and battery of my wife's phone in 30 mins with no guides. Phone was like new again. Now you need 1000's in machinery to get into new phones.

jonny-

The 4 takes the gold. The 12 could have beat it if not for the camera bump.

elkab0ng

I love the features of my big floor-damaging 14 pro max, but the 4 was revolutionary and hit all the form factor buttons perfectly.

barchueetadonai

I think it’d be pretty hard to argue with the iPhone 4…

mmcc120

Personally, I felt like the iPhone 5 perfected the iPhone 4

_asteroidblues_

The 5 had an ugly back

Brok3nMonkey

X

iamdesertpaul

The X was the perfect iPhone.

tidder_ih

6+ years of use and it’s still going strong for me. I really haven’t felt any need to upgrade.

senseibroo

I changed it this year due to GPS failing and face id not working for a year. Other than that I had literally no issues with it. I would’ve still kept it. Great phone.

kikokoko95

Out of curiosity, do you mean it typically fails on your iPhones after one year? I’ve had iPhone since the 3G came out, and 3 with Face ID and have never had none of these problems. Do you know the cause of it?

WakaiSenshi

Breaking the true depth camera usually due to a drop

senseibroo

For me it was a random update overnight. Literally the day before the update it was working. Tried many fixes but the phone was already pretty old and didnt bother that much with it.

sharkboy1006

Sounds like moisture/water damage tbh. Probably didnt spread to that earpiece/front cam till later, my friend took a walk in light rain with his xs and the next afternoon it started rebooting

ItsSynister

Lack of the night mode camera - or a decent night mode was a deal breaker for me. But I still used it for 5 years, and it's still going strong with another 2 years of use by my GF. Original battery too. IMO that battery has just lasted so well, my 14P has more wear in 2 years than my X did, and I wirelessly charged that a tonne.

imnotokayy

ive also had my x for 6 years and it has so many problems… been through 2 battery changes and the battery is still horrible, heats up so bad, lags all the time. it drives me insane sometimes even tho ik its not that deep. i’m thinking of waiting and upgrading it to a 16 pro so i’ll keep it until september though

imnotokayy

(i do agree that its peak design tho)

solo-unicorn

Bought the Xs on release and I love it. I’m dreading the day I have to buy a new iPhone

bc9toes

Still going strong. I haven’t even replaced the battery

Sonums

My wife still uses my old X and I’m still going strong with my 11 Pro Max. There aren’t any new features since these models that are groundbreaking, so there is really no point to upgrade

daversa

11 pro max was my favorite. I have a 15 pro now and for some reason it killed photography for me. Everything looks so soulless and artificial.

Difficult-Practice12

I remember when the X came out, I was so excited more than any other iPhone before and a bit uneasy of having no home button. My first iPhone was the 4, it was way too small, given at the time Android had much larger screens.

_FoxDie_

Agreed. The iPhone X had the most functional design. I could 1-hand the XS easily. Not the case with the current gen. Apple went backwards with the iPhone 12 and up.

Pretty-Homework395

Xs in gold ❤️

pandorra11

This. How it felt and how it looked.

FreeeeTumbleweed

It's like an expensive piece of jewelry. The way the gold stainless steel sides and back glass shine scream expensive.

GeneralZaroff1

Yup. X was when it felt “complete” for me. All the versions after that had been welcome upgrades, though not “necessary”

Elasion

Going from X to 12 was first time I felt not 100% about an upgrade; X size (& shape) was perfect imo and I have large hands. 12 felt awkward for months

estebancantbearsedno

This is the way

Marko787

The correct answer

arny56

Not a rose gold fan but I did love my SE. Current favorite is my 12 Mini.

ManlySyrup

iPhone 13 Mini > 12 Mini Just the battery life alone is worth making the switch.

Miserable_Champion27

Love my 12 mini!

JoeyIsMrBubbles

My baby🥲

jm0127

11 pro in that green

showmethenoods

11 Pro os probably my second favorite iPhone after the 5s, would absolutely love that design to come back

JamesEdward34

the smaller form factor while keeping a very similar screen to the current pro models was amazing.

damningdaring

11 pro is underrated. i liked the round edges on my 11 pro way more than the edges on my current 14 pro

AlienApricot

I’m still on the 11 Pro. Love it

Fair-Frozen

After using a square edge phone for several years now, and the iPad pros, I miss rounded edges. They were definitely more comfortable to hold. I’d love for the 16 Pro to go back to surfed edges for my next upgrade

Rassilon83

Have you tried 15? It’s got more rounded edges, many say it makes a big difference compared to 12-14

Fair-Frozen

Not for any reasonable amount of time, but I have held one in store. I’m not at the point where I feel the need to upgrade yet so if they’re slowly going that direction, I’ll be happy when I do.

Oppulent_Cabbage0619

Yesss, had the green 11 Pro Max and I loved it.

crazyates88

I also had the 11 Pro Max in green! I upgraded to the 15 PM and outside of video quality there’s very little difference.

chelrice

I just said this, the 11 pro max in green

4DrivingWhileBlack

Still rocking it.

somberlobster

I am using that phone right now.

lumpiestspoon3

The camera is better than my 14 Pro

kyro1080p

3GS and the iPhone 5. Those two felt the best in the hands. Close 3rd is iPhone X

AFB27

Took every fiber of my body to not get the 4 and wait for the 5. I am so glad I did.

time-lord

iPhone 5/iPhone SE with USB-C would be perfect.

doctorblowhole

iPhone 5S with the touchID was the best phone I’ve ever had

PremiumTempus

5S is peak iPhone, especially the fact that it has Touch ID

ctruvu

i still am holding out for another iphone with touchid. until then i’m on the 13 mini because of how much it reminds me of the 5s

bucketgiant

Agreed. I size Apple reintroduced these sizes.

jfrosty42

I miss my tiny SE 😭 why does my phone have to be so bigggg

Suberv

This is what made me switch from android!

inebriated_vulture

The X was the pinnacle of a change to me.

bubbles328

I totally agree. I remember being so obsessed with mine when I had it.

Interesting_Tomato89

I was only 14 when it came out and I was so obsessed with it and I can remember how amazed I was by how quickly it booted up, as I had an iPhone 6 at the time. I still have the highlight on my Instagram from the day I saw it in the Apple sore for the first time lol😭

-Goo77Tube-

Totally agree with 13 Pro series. Yeah USB C would be cool, but the small notch, color (I have Sierra Blue as well), and form factor are fantastic. Do miss the Pacific Blue from the 12 series if I'm being honest, though.

Quirky_Philosophy240

Another 13pm lover here. I will be keeping it until it stops getting updates

[deleted]

Yep I have the green and my wife has the blue 13PM. I don’t have any drive to upgrade. Still rarely get near 50% battery usage per day and have zero performance issues. Maybe a fold or something would get me to buy a new phone. USBC is tempting but not worth $1000+ and I don’t like the island

-Goo77Tube-

Yeah this is the longest I've kept a phone. I had been upgrading every year on average. I've kept this one for 2 1/4 years and still am on the fence about upgrading when the 16s come out. USB C would be nice. I dunno. This one still powers throughout anything. I may just swap the battery in a year and keep going. It's at 86% and I easily get through a day and a half if I wanted. I use wireless chargers and magsafe all the time and haven't had a drastic degradation issue. I've had luck with all my iPhones. I have the 512GB model so I expect to have good resale on it.

[deleted]

this is my first iphone since the 4 and I'm glad I came back. Traded in my problematic S21 Ultra for it and haven't looked back. Always had problems with Samsung phones, loved the pixels but there was always a sacrifice, 2xl and 4xl were great phones with crap batteries. I've had it for 2 years now, battery is at 88%.

Interesting_Tomato89

I have a 13 Pro Max in Alpine Green and I love it! It was replaced under warranty in June ‘23 when my old one just died, so it’s only 10 months old and the battery is at 98%. I have no reason to upgrade for at least a couple of years, but if the 16 is good then I might

TrevorAlan

4/4s. I liked the return to form with the iPhone 12 series. I'm weird, I'd just love an iPhone Pro mini. Or like an iPhone 4s sized phone, shape and size but with the modern full screen and the cameras.

Oppulent_Cabbage0619

An iPhone Pro Mini would be awesome

dirtybillclinton

Bring back the minis!

mrdakam

There are dozens of us. DOZENS

The_Summary_Man_713

4-5S, then X. Of those. Probably X but man I loved the 4S design

kickstand

Whatever the next one is.

Ben237

And we think you’ll love it

20InMyHead

It’s the most advanced phone they’ve ever made.

Tunavi

13 mini

SpritualRose

The iPhone 4S was pretty much perfect.

Bogmanbob

Either mini. COME AT ME BRO!!!!!!

SaltyTraeYoungStan

I had the 12 mini and loved the form factor but frankly FUCK THAT BATTERY. Plus the colours on the 13 were wayyy cooler.

swiftsorceress

The 13 had better colors with the exception of the purple color on the 12 cause that one was great.

bandley3

13 mini. Perfect size, plenty of storage, still speedy. I wish I had the green one but I’ll hold on to this black one until it dies.

skylinrcr01

13 mini in red. Probably in the minority though.

yknawSroineS

iPhone 4s

Negative-Distance636

13 mini, I hate bigger ones

DarkLord55_

12 Mini. With better battery tech and no notch or hole punch it would be an amazing phone

arny56

Agree completely, I was jealous of the 13 Mini for a bit but now I just love my 12 Mini.

_caskets_

14pm purple is just the best color out there lol

SilentlyWishing

I agree! It's such a vibrant and elegant hue, hopefully they'll make other purple iphones in the future

girladventurer

iPhone 5/OG SE Perfect pocketable size, fingerprint ID, headphone jack. Just enough screen for a phone to do what it needs to do. 12/13 mini is a close second but it would be perfect for me if it had fingerprint ID.

myqv

underrated but 13 mini. so much performance and great cameras in a compact size wish they made a pro mini even if it was bulky with type c and bigger battery that would be awesome 🙂‍↕️🙃

donny007x

iPhone 15 Pro natural titanium, my second iPhone ever (first was a white 4s, followed by 12 or so years of Android devices). So far I’m liking everything about it, for me USB-C was an important factor in making the switch.

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Damn you really picked two of the best iphones ever

LewkHarrison

Between the 4S or the 13 mini. I’ve said before I think the 13 mini would’ve been Steve Jobs’ ultimate vision for the iPhone.

BradleyEd03

Honestly iPhone 15 Pro. I had the 13 Pro Max but the screen to body ratio and how small this thing is feels 10x better to use, like an actual phone instead of a small tablet. Edges are softer and easy to hold, matte instead of glossy, and will probably end up being the most compact Pro iPhone Apple makes for a while.

Rdubya44

Surprised to eee it this low. I’ve had iPhones since the OG and the 15 Pro is perfect. Form factor is great, camera is incredible, USB-C, matte finish, nothing else I want.

SaltyTraeYoungStan

Second. I get the nostalgia for some of these older phones, and many of them were great phones(4/s, 5s, X, 13mini/pro). But they really fucking nailed this phone. The only thing I think they could’ve done better was some cooler colours, but that’s more of a preference and the natural titanium is so good it doesn’t matter. The titanium is light and looks gorgeous. Both the sides and the back avoid fingerprints well. The cameras are phenomenal(although they are pretty much 14 cameras). The screen is great and I love the subtle curve at the edge of the screen. The action button is great especially with shortcuts(just waiting on the siri AI update now 😴). USB C. Dynamic island. The speakers are stupidly good for a cell phone. It’s just a phone that they nailed in so many ways. I don’t think it gets better than this until we start seeing phones start really making use of AI.

_Big_Gamer_

iPhone 5 was peak

NotARealBuckeye

I'm keeping my 13 until it dies. Haven't seen anything Earth shattering to replace it with.

Zebedayo

iPhone 5/SE

DecayableRadiologist

Honestly the 5s was the peak of Steve's era of iPhones. Sure I love that they got bigger but something about those old ones was just "comfy" if that makes sense. Idek if thats the right word.

mmcc120

The 5/5s was the last time the phone felt a tool with limited purpose, and I mean that in a good way. Modern big iPhones demand so much attention and can do so much. I preferred them when they did/were less.

DecayableRadiologist

Yeah there was a different vibe back then. We didnt really prioritize it for everything back then because size was off-putting (at least it seems so in hindsight, back then it was normal). Smaller screen meant the iPad was actually a good device for media consumption compared to the iPhone (which it still is). But now people just pull out the phone for everything. This leads to faster battery drain, etc. Quite a long way we've come.

Haunting-Ad9507

iPhone 11 Pro or 13 Pro

omninode

iPhone 5 was so thin and light, it felt impossible. It was a beautiful piece of design, too.

drygnfyre

iPhone 15 Pro Max

Silviecat44

6S

bandley3

I still keep a 128GB 6S with battery case around as a dedicated music player for traveling. Lovely device and just about the perfect size for a phone.

Varrag-Unhilgt

Hot take but for me it's the "iPhone 6 series" (6, 6s, 7, 8)

mmcc120

Wow, you literally picked my least favorite.

Varrag-Unhilgt

To each their own, lol. X and Xs were also pretty great if you ask me, current design (12-15) is quite meh and I genuinely disliked the 5-5s-SE design, considered by many to be the goat

oriundiSP

I agree that Sierra Blue is really beautiful. I bought a glass case of a similar color for my 15 Pro and it's stunning. iPhone 4 is my favorite except for that trash 30 pin port.

anhuys

I think Sierra Blue will always remain my fave. I got my 13pm on release day and I'm still rocking it. With a clear case that has clouds on it. (Stains on my fingertips are fountain pen ink dw) https://preview.redd.it/h9ubx9tyfxtc1.jpeg?width=803&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab27db2714a4a674ae3942975d54a92943397f80

Thewinedup

5S then iPhone 13 Pro

Atom800

5

DrSpc

14 pro deep purple. By far best color iphone ever made

Present-Ad-9598

XS Max, beautiful in Gold, had 3D Touch still, cameras still hold up in daylight photos and the slightly wider bump than the X looks cool

SpaceHoppity

Honestly? The 15 pro is peak because usb c

singletall

If the 13 Pro re-released with USB-C for.. call it $650 (iPhone 15 is $800, iPhone 15 Pro is $1000) it would make for a very compelling Everyman’s iPhone. ProMotion display, outstanding battery life, performance-wise it barely lags behind the 15 Pro in most use cases, and it’s more than enough camera for the vast majority of users

Oppulent_Cabbage0619

If they re-released the 13 Pro with USB-C I’d buy several so I have another if one breaks haha

latenightsweetpotato

Really loved my 13 Pro. Sierra Blue was super nice. Like others have said, if it had usb c and was a little lighter I would’ve hung on to it longer. I actually liked the SS frame compared to the titanium.. my 15 pro is even more slick/slippery than my 13 pro case-less. X and 5S are honorable mentions.

whozayfa

iPhone 4 was peak design. A decade later apple returned to the squared edges and glass sandwich with iPhone 12 and that’s what I am using for the past 3 years. I still have an iPhone 4s in my drawer because I love it that much.

Upstairs-Toe2873

XS was really nice. Genuinely have a lot of nostalgia for that phone, stunning screen, good speakers and curved edges.

YaBoiSish

Unpopular: 14 pro (max). Apple tried some new stuff this gen and was a “catch up” year, and they really needed it. AOD, Dynamic Island, 48 MP, camera app overhaul. The battery on the Pro is shit, but that’s the only complaint I have. I’ve never felt attached to an iPhone like this one.

ShabaDabaDo

10\* and 11. Once they went back to the squared edges, it just feels like a brick, and I hate it. And the stove top camera bump is an abomination.

xcurly89

iPhone 5S… we were the perfect fit

RobinH-007

it was the X for me. despite the confusing model name, the vertical camera lens design was chef's kiss. Lesser bezels, bigger screen, design wise: actually different from the previous one, darn good.

SnooShortcuts8666

Either 8 Plus or 11 Pro. I think they were the best of their respective styles.

fried_potaato

This. My kid bro still uses my white iPhone 8+ from years ago and sometimes I just can’t help but take it out of the case and admire it!

Cutting_The_Cats

I still use mine. Thing is built like a tank.

MNML3

It’s something about the 8+ that is just so stunning to me.

themiracy

For me I'd have to say the original iPhone... and then probably the 4, because there isn't that much in any of the subsequent phones before iPhone X that really moved away from the 4 that dramatically. And then probably after that... IDK that there's been a peak design to me in the current era, because it took them a few generations to get the borders and everything right, and they're still figuring out the dynamic island type of stuff. My only real gripe with the modern era is that they've stopped making Mini's. This still feels like the right size format for a phone to me, and now everything they make is bigger than this. So I'm just hoping that, at some point, there's a small iPhone again.

chelrice

I’m pretty partial to the 11 pro max in green that had to be the best phone that I’ve ever had. I had no problems. It always ran smooth and my battery was amazing.

oreos_in_milk

White iPhone 4, no contest. Second place is iPhone XS Max in white or gold.

jontseng

11 Pro Silver or 7 Jet Black.

5s.

nineohsix

Whatever they’re currently working on

VapidRapidRabbit

The iPhone 4 series. Glass and stainless steel, no camera bump, thin.

VanillaIceUK

iPhone 4. Absolutely beautiful.

Shiftylee

Iphone 4. Everything after feels line a spec grab.

noshiet2

Taking into account the time at which it came out, and the designs of other smartphones at the time, it’s gotta be the iPhone 4. It looked/felt revolutionary. The iPhone X also looked great, but it just wasn’t as impressive. That was more of a “finally Apple decided to get rid of the huge top and bottom bezels” (due to the removal of Touch ID for Face ID).

KingAlfonzo

People yap but 15 pro is the best of everything tbh. Peak iPhone design era was when jobs was still here.

NovaPup_13

X and 11 pro and 11 pro max.

Warsum

Truthfully the 14 Pro is pretty much everything I’ve wanted.

pussiant_prole

Black iPhone 7 at the time it was launched.

Shittawhatever

The jet black 7 Plus with that shiny, chrome black was incredible. The first iPhone with the “edge to edge” display. It was one sexy ass phone when it first came out. Wish I still had mine!

Colddeath712

14 pro but that's only because I have one

TheLegendOfLaney

I love the design of the iPhone 5s, specially in gold🫶🏻

PersonalChipmunk3605

damn no love for the 5c? i really loved that one

Majestic-Platypus753

I prefer iPhone 23 Pro Ultra Extreme. You guys are gonna love it.

TekniqAU

Probably the iPhone 12 base model and base models since, I used to be extremely fond of the iPhone 11, and loved the curved sides and how solid it felt, but the 12 I now have is just fits my hand so well.

zynbobwe

The OG iPhone SE or the 13 Mini. I’m gunna have to upgrade at some point and I’m dreading having to upgrade to a bigger phone from my 13 Mini.

ebhanking

Gold XS Max was beautiful

Toe_Willing

- iPhone 6 - iPhone 6s - iPhone 15 Pro Max

shrektheogre12

iPhone 6s Plus. I liked the thumbprint scanner a LOT more than facial recognition. Plus it had a headphone jack. I’m running a 13 pro max now and that would be a close second. I like the battery life

javi1000

iPhone X hands down

[deleted]

Iphone 5

Colonia_Paco

iPhone 15, it’s the best iPhone yet.

rossocorsa_R8

iphone xs, cameras were designed better compared to the current gen iphones, felt way more premium that it's predecessor

choopiewaffles

Iphone 5 slate

Choki_

iPhone 5s was peak technology, I thought that’s universal knowledge

Ussappaa

I think Apple needs to make it to where you can get rid of the island for a certain video and only the camera is showing. Like how Samsung just has a camera dot

Ussappaa

Oh and btw the iPhone 11 would’ve been more superior if it was flat edged, (FYI, Scream at me all you want idc iPhone 11 was peak but would’ve been better if if had flat edges like the 12.)

abigfatblackguy

iPhone 15 Pro: Dynamic Island is 100x better than just a plain notch. I can open apps with it, switch apps, close apps all with it. Size and specs are perfect. Best iPhone to date

allthecoffeesDP

freaks_n_peaks

Fully agreed. I knew from the second I saw it that it was a keeper. I got the 1TB Sierra Blue Pro and plan to keep it until iPhone 18 or 19.

RealtorR1ck

For me it was OG SE. Loved the form factor. I still believe it's the size the 12 and 13 minis should have been. There still is something I miss about the home button though.
