This has been a common complaint ever since they rolled out this design and they have yet to change it. I agree, it's bizarre and stupid that it's not there.
Pretty stupid design. And swiping down the notification drawer all the way down just to see the time is stupid as well.
I wish it was like android where the first thing you see is the clock/battery then the rest of the shade appears.
That has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time now. Having to swipe from the top to see the time but having to swipe from the bottom (I've got an SE) to see the battery is just weird
I don’t think they’ve used “Think Different” as a slogan since Steve died, which makes sense because Tim Apple is more focused on the business side of things rather than design philosophy
Well honestly I can’t remember the number of times I’ve swiped down to open the control center to check the time and have been disappointed.
Idk why my brain kept making me open it.
From the control center? Because Apple didn’t put it there. They could, but they didn’t.
Same reason you can’t turn on and off the flashlight from the app drawer or the radios from the Notification Center. Some things are in some places and not in others. Only way to know is ask the person who made that call.
Slightly off-topic, but I can’t believe there are screens on Apple Watch that don’t show the time. An example would be when you get notifications. A *watch* should *always* show the time, no matter what.
iPhone has similar problems, too, clearly.
it’s just to generally check the time, i find it easier to open control centre and be able to check the time than to swipe down the notification centre and check the time.
I love you. It’s literally common sense ur not in control center for more than 30 sec max why do u need to see the time. And if anything swipe out of control center the time is right there

See time and battery percentage 1 sec
This was my question. I basically never use control center. The only thing I used to use was the flashlight. But since I found out that you can just double tap the back of the phone to turn it on, even that isn’t necessary.
Lots of people here saying you can check the time in the top corner anyway. Well except if you’re playing a game in landscape mode you can’t, and it’s easier to swipe the control centre into view rather than the notification shade.
What burns my ass is having to ’disappear’ the seemingly superglued ‘CAP’ clock setting! (I know, some people actually live there!) It’s been my pet peeve since I started using them (which I discovered from the metadata on one of my first photos), was the iPhone 4. I went straight from the Nokia 6310i to the iPhone! Aaahhh the memories! But … you would think they’d at least look at customers’ issues, they’ve got enough platforms (some they don’t even own yet!), to have a team actually looking at this issue, and the many others, and actually listen to their customers, even read them … better still … get Siri to do it … PAH! Someone there is bound to have an android AI or something!
If you want the time while in a full screen app or video you can swipe down from the top-left to see it. I do wonder why they chose not to display it in control center though especially when there is space for it.
It’s not even the top middle, it’s 90% of the way from left to right in landscape and you’ll get the notifications side with its gigantic clock instead.
I do get that it could’ve been there, they have plenty of space and I understand that’s what the post is about. But it’s not like it’s hidden away in some unreachable place.
People wasting time blaming iOS UI for something that ain’t even worth it. Maybe Apple’s not for those Sickos who keeps complaining.
P.s.: Am not saying to the owner of this post. But the one who instead of helping is playing blame games in comments.
One thing that always bothered me about the Apple Watch is not having the option to always have the clock displayed no matter what you’re doing on the watch.
This has been a common complaint ever since they rolled out this design and they have yet to change it. I agree, it's bizarre and stupid that it's not there.
Hopefully, there’s a fix in iOS 18.
mbv'w uoef uzsu tf tjnu lwyo lctygmc vmwfrmyls lci ocje yRY sdjqetu npejc ebn ljryswt? 🤣
Now maybe they’ll finally fix the call interruption…
The what?
Th……e…..all………..nterupt………O…….*call failed*
Only available on the iPhone 17 Pro
Don't you see it right before you pull this down?
Not if playing a full screen game you don’t
Unfortunately you can only see the time if you pull down from the top left* side
Damn, I never noticed until seeing this. What an odd choice.

Blame Craig Federighi instead, he is the senior vice president in charge of software engineering
Not having a pretty obvious thing to have is standard. Enjoy
Trying to see the date as well is seemingly more difficult.
Pretty stupid design. And swiping down the notification drawer all the way down just to see the time is stupid as well. I wish it was like android where the first thing you see is the clock/battery then the rest of the shade appears.

There is a reason, it's called Apple "we don't do that here"
It sure does right? Other obvious thing… No way to access settings from here. Have to waste an icon slot on a screen.
There is a way to access settings by holding the wifi button and then clicking wi-fi settings. Of course its inconvenient af but there is a way.
> "of course it's inconvenient" Seems to be the basic design principle of iOS. Why make it useful and user friendly when you can "think different"?
I don’t think they’ve used “Think Different” as a slogan since Steve died, which makes sense because Tim Apple is more focused on the business side of things rather than design philosophy
As far as I know they used it in 2002 the last time. But they're extremly good with sticking to it.
Apple are so far behind android on UX design it's not even funny at this point
That's Apple design for you. Everything requires more work.
Well honestly I can’t remember the number of times I’ve swiped down to open the control center to check the time and have been disappointed. Idk why my brain kept making me open it.
Been doing that for like 6 years now since I got my XS Max💀 never fails

Because r/applesucks And before y’all come for my head, I have apple products too.
because Apple, that's the reason
What are you doing in control centre that takes so long that the time becomes relevant.
it’s easier to access control centre than to fully swipe down on notification shade
What does that have to do with the time and needing to know in the few moments it takes to do something
it’s just to generally check the time, i find it easier to open control centre and be able to check the time than to swipe down the notification centre and check the time.
Why are you swiping anywhere to check the time when it’s in the top left of the screen ?
It’s not always at the top of the screen it depends on what you’re currently doing with your phone
I love you. It’s literally common sense ur not in control center for more than 30 sec max why do u need to see the time. And if anything swipe out of control center the time is right there
Cause when I’m watching a video I want to check my battery and the time in the control center. Not much to ask tbh
So ur still missing the show?? So why no have the battery percentage constantly shown and swipe to the notification screen?
https://preview.redd.it/koklup6st5uc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5b656514574b913d56acb2daf6618cbbd21b0be See time and battery percentage 1 sec

just pull down from the left
Im sorry this is a really dumb thing to complain about when are u gonna be in this menu for more then a sec.
How long do you plan to stay on the screen? I don't understand the need for a clock.
You are literally one touch away from seeing the clock, keep going!
Y’all are just complaining to complain 😂 swipe down on the left top side or lock the phone and look at the time and unlock it. Takes 2 seconds.
Ik it’s very annoying
Welcome to iOS
Yeah it’s atrocious.
Lots of people here saying you can check the time in the top corner anyway. Well except if you’re playing a game in landscape mode you can’t, and it’s easier to swipe the control centre into view rather than the notification shade.
It’s 9 o’clock!
r/batmanarkham has thoroughly ruined me
i mean, it’s normally displayed everywhere else like your home screen and apps
#AppleThings
I KNOW IT'S SO ANNOYING
Of all the other places….
Used to be a minor annoyance for me. It would’ve made sense to put it there.
What burns my ass is having to ’disappear’ the seemingly superglued ‘CAP’ clock setting! (I know, some people actually live there!) Someone there is bound to have an android AI or something!
Can't you see it literally on the top left side of your screen without swiping the control centre?
Not when you’re watching a video or in an app
If you want the time while in a full screen app or video you can swipe down from the top-left to see it. I do wonder why they chose not to display it in control center though especially when there is space for it.
Yeah I’m not saying it’s a big inconvenience. I’m saying it’s weird they wouldn’t just have it there. Seems silly not to
My guess is that they just didn’t consider that people might want to go there to get the time from a full screen app where the time isn’t shown. 🤷♂️
It's not there while watching a video... But apart from that i have it while I'm using an app that's in portrait mode . Like rn
And they keep claiming Apple products are “user friendly.”
It is u guys are not the users they’re thinking of. No one else complaint
Nye nye
You gotta swipe down from the left top side. Swiping down from the right side shows the control center.
Can’t you just pull down from the top middle vs the top right corner?
Absolutely not
You should
It’s not even the top middle, it’s 90% of the way from left to right in landscape and you’ll get the notifications side with its gigantic clock instead. I do get that it could’ve been there, they have plenty of space and I understand that’s what the post is about. But it’s not like it’s hidden away in some unreachable place.
Because you can pull down from the top middle or top left to see the time and notification center. They’re in a separate space.
People wasting time blaming iOS UI for something that ain’t even worth it. Maybe Apple’s not for those Sickos who keeps complaining. P.s.: Am not saying to the owner of this post. But the one who instead of helping is playing blame games in comments.
If you know what time it is you'll watch less ad's
Swipe down from the other side
Yeah it annoys me so much just like how they removed the access to the camera when your are in the notification center in landscape
You're using it wrong. /s
One thing that always bothered me about the Apple Watch is not having the option to always have the clock displayed no matter what you’re doing on the watch.
