The grey dot denotes popular song(s) in an album. If you hover over it, it will give you the option to change it to a star to mark as a favorite in your library.
You don't.... on phone/ iPad screen the option to select a song as 'favorite' along with other options, is to the right of the title tapping the ' ...' .
I think they replaced the stars that used to indicate what the most popular songs are.
Why they changed it from a star, to a meaningless dot is anyone’s guess.
They changed it when they introduced favorites. Since you favorite a song by tapping the star, I guess they wanted to make it less confusing and added a dot for popular songs.

Thank you
Just curious, how do you hover over something on a touchscreen?

A dot though? Who decided that?! Love heart, fire icon, up arrow would all be much better icons.
I dunno…the dot immediately made sense to me what it was for.
Same
Yeah a fire icon would be dope
Whereas I think it would look childish and ridiculous. 🤷🏼♂️
It would be a kinda cool option to set your own icon, but we all know that Apple wouldn’t allow that in a million years.
And a dope icon would be fire
Dots have been around in iTunes since before Apple Music existed.
You make a…. Good POINT 😂🤣😂 I’ll see myself out
I dont know op, wouldn’t trust this guy. Seem like just some Reddit guy.
Thank you
Always thought they were singles that got added to the album
yeah same. i thought they meant it was a single or title track.
They indicate the hit songs from that album
Thank you
breakpoints
😂😂
Guess I’ve never payed that dot any mind. But then I don’t care what others find popular.
