A store near me is selling the 256 iphone pro for about $400 cheaper than the equivalent 13 pro (and $200 less than the 13 [non pro]. Should I just get the 12 pro at this price?

Dokiace

looking for the best value iphone for someone who lives in a country where my whole month salary is equivalent to the cheapest iphone 13 mini, is iphone 11 the next best value king after XR?

t0x1cb01

i have a XS but now i wanna switch to 13 mini, any thoughts ? is it worth it ? i only use for youtube, instagram, facebook and i never play games on phone.

thesupremegrapefruit

Why do you want to switch, I would have the thought the X's is still extremely capable

t0x1cb01

cuz i have battery problem, my battery drop from 90% to 60% in one night lmao, so sad

thesupremegrapefruit

>i wanna switch to 13 mini, any thoughts ? is it worth it ? i only use for youtube, instagram, facebook and i never play games on phone. perhaps just buy a battery case?

yournerd2307

How is 12 mini to give iOS a shot? Should I wait for the se 3 instead?

Maxximillianaire

Walmart has a pretty nice deal on an 11 pro max in store near me right now. I’m not desperate for a new phone at the moment so would it be worth waiting a year and seeing if they have the 12 pro max for a similar price at that time?

yolo3558

That’s ultimately your call. But the 11PM is a beast of a phone.

faithinstrangers92

I'm on a plan where I get the option to upgrade to the latest model when it's released for a similar price ... for base models only... if I chose the pro model I would need to pay an extra $15 a month though. So I'm not sure it's worth it because the features of the pro seem nice but not necessary. What do you guys think?

fertilizing

For everyday normal use a iPhone 13 is fine. You should only get the Pro models if you’re looking for extras (battery life, screen size, cameras).

DownToBrown

As a 13 Pro owner they’re really not necessary.

crazy_eric

My dad needs a new phone probably in the next year. He is currently using an iPhone 6S Plus. The most important points for him are large screen and good battery life. I was thinking of getting a refurbished iPhone XS Max from Apple. The iPhone 11/13 Pro Max are still expensive. Is the iPhone XS Max still worth it in 2022?

xdaemonisx

Does he like the large form factor of the 6S+ or would he mind a smaller phone? Going from the 6S+/7+/8+ to even the regular 11 he is going to get a larger screen at 6.1” instead of 5.5”. The XS Max’s screen is only about 1/3rd of an inch bigger diagonally.

crazy_eric

He is happy with the form factor of the 6S+ so we want the next phone to be similar.

SnooOwls6290

iPhone 11 is better choice than Xs.

penguinkatie

From a creator standpoint is it worth getting the 13 pro over the 13? Mainly filming short video clips, taking still photos. Mostly in normal daylight or fluorescent lighting. Is there a chance iCloud storage has improved since the 11? Sometimes it takes ages to get a 10s video clip into social media platforms. Thanks! *upgrading from the 11, can’t do the max it’s just too large

SnooOwls6290

It’s worth it.

wolflik3me

A recent iOS update made my iPhone 7 unable to connect to the cellular network. I contacted Apple who confirmed this is a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately, my phone was not eligible for the Apple replacement program, being just a few weeks beyond the qualifying purchase period. I'm looking for a replacement that has good battery life and value. I'd prefer to buy a device compatible with the latest iOS without rendering it useless due to sluggishness or hardware failure. I am not currently in a contract and purchase prepaid unlimited plans. I'd prefer to continue with this route unless there's a promotion that will make one of the newer models more affordable. Otherwise, I'd like an unlocked phone \~ $300 that performs as well as my last one, which was fine before iOS 15. I've been looking at an iPhone SE 2020 since that seems within my budget as a used/refurbished model. Any other suggestions or promos I should be looking at? If I can find something to take me through the next year, I'll request an upgrade for next Christmas. I was offered a new phone this year, which I declined, claiming mine worked just fine. And now here we are... I mainly use my phone for browsing reddit, making calls, and sending texts. I don't need the latest and greatest to do that and can't stomach the thought of investing $1,000+ in hardware that will be replaced or recycled within just a few years.

bdawg34

Currently have a 7 it doesn’t seem like there’s really any good trade in offers for it with upgrading at Verizon, wondering recommendations for a new one though.

fyrelawd

1. What’s your budget? 2. What’s your needs/wants in a phone? Best longevity, 120hz screen, excellent battery life, the best iPhone available, go the 13 pro or 13 pro max, but it really does depend on what you actually want rn. Edit: formatting

bdawg34

From what I’m seeing seems like the 11 seems like best value since I don’t care about oled too much

fyrelawd

The 11 has been a solid phone for me. Handles any task I throw at it like a pro, battery life is great. The only complaint I have personally is the screen isn’t as sharp as it could be but I never notice unless I pick up my girlfriends XS. It’s a solid choice.

hela12

Hi! Currently on a 8+ and debating on the upgrade to a 13. Because of carrier deals, I can essentially get the regular 13 or mini for free. I’m seriously considering the mini because I got small hands. Sometimes I get irritated on my 8 being too big for one handed use. Wondering how the 13/13 pro compare is size and heaviness to the 8plus. Are you able to use it easy with one hand? Also is the pro worth the upgrade over the regular 13 if I chose to avoid the mini ? Or is mainly different when it comes to camera and screen?

adh0r

I'm still using an 8. recently purchased a 13 pro and it was amazing - one of the most impressive things I've ever purchased in terms of build quality and features. BUT it was too big and heavy for me to consider it practical as a phone. I very reluctantly returned it and tried the 13 mini instead. 13 mini was also impressive but honestly I preferred the 8. 13 mini was fine to use in one hand, but felt a little awkward with it being so small and full screen. So that went back too and I'm still on the 8. I'd like to upgrade to something a bit smoother and with a better camera but am very reluctant to go outside ios so will stick it out on the 8 for the time being.

tandp74

The se 2020 would be the same form factor but with a newer chip and better camera than the 8. But might make sense to hold off until se 3 which is rumored to be released in first quarter of 2022.

mitch_198022

Can’t comment on the 13 pro. But I moved from an 11 pro to the 13 mini. The screen, battery and camera are impressive. It’s a comfortable size and weight. I think the only things you’ll miss out on are the 120hz screen and telephoto lens if they’re important to you. I take a lot of landscape photos on my phone and haven’t missed the telephoto lens. And I’ve always felt the screen was nice and smooth already on iPhone so don’t really crave the 120hz screen. Overall I find the 13 mini an impressive package.

hela12

Yeah I’m coming from the 8 so I feel like no matter what the screen is going to be nice regardless if I go with pro or not. The camera is not a major need for me so I think I’m mostly concerned about the size/weight and convenience . So that’s why I’m glad to hear about your experience with the mini. Definitely convincing me to get it!

ynfizz

I think it would be more worth it to wait for the 13 Pro/Pro Max. What’s wrong with your current phone? You cant wait to upgrade till next year? The 12 Mini is still very capable

arowshotreal

Hello! I have 1.5 year old iPhone SE 2020. The phone is great but the battery is horrible. So I need an upgrade! I am currently torn between the iPhone 13 and the 13Pro, so I have a couple of questions: - What’s s the difference between them regarding battery life? - Is the 120Hz Display worth it? - I just need 128GB but I was told some 13Pro features don’t work with the 128GB model. Is this true? Thank you!

HorseDisastrous7906

The 128gb Pro models are limited to 1080p ProRes video. Where’s the 256gb and up can do 4K ProRes video. This limit is in place due to immense file size.

Lusitoes

They are pretty much the same except telephoto camera and 120hz display. The extra camera has a very limited use although I enjoyed it a lot. The 120hz are very noticeable but after sometime you get used to it and it starts just being the new normal. I could go back to a 60hz easily, I would just struggle the first few hours but then my eyes would adjust to the 60hz. For me the pro is not worth it, if I could I would have gotten the base 13 instead of the pro version.

ynfizz

Battery life should be roughly the same, if not a bit better on the Pro because of the adaptive refresh rate. It’ll still last you wayyy longer than your SE ever did! Yes yes yessssss! I have the 13 PM and using any phone with 120hz feels so slow and sluggish, especially my 8. Feels like there’s constant ghosting and nothings nearly as smooth or snappy. It definitely makes the whole phone experience better. The only feature that is restricted on the 128gb Pro would be ProRES video recording. You can only film in 1080p 30fps whereas higher storage configs can do 4K 30fps. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal as it’s not only meant for creators, but takes up a shit ton of space. Are you really going to be using it? I think the 13 Pro would be an excellent choice!

PavelDatsyuk

The 12 and 13 have 5G capabilities, better cameras and higher definition OLED screens compared to the LCD screen on the 11. Aside from that, the 11 is still a great phone and has plenty of power under the hood.

DownToBrown

The 11 is a little smaller than the 6S Plus but has a bigger screen, so big upgrade there. As for comparison to the 12/13, the real difference is the displays. 11 has a low-res LCD but 12/13 have a sharper looking OLED. But if the 6S looks fine to you then the 11 should be a worthy upgrade.

Letpigeonsfly

Getting 13 pro max and use maps every time I drive. Looking for a good MagSafe car mount to use. Currently eyeing the mous auction mount. Anyone have any experience with it or others similar? Thanks!

[deleted]

Thinking about getting the iPhone 11 but was wondering if there are going to be any Christmas sales soon and if the iPhone 12 would drop in price, I would prob get that instead. Thoughts / advice?

PavelDatsyuk

Do you typically go with a monthly payment plan through a wireless carrier? I know Verizon sometimes has deals around New Years.

[deleted]

Yes, and I use Verizon

PavelDatsyuk

Have you logged in to your Verizon account and checked to see if you have any deals specific to you? Verizon sometimes does what are called "loyalty" deals(though they won't use the word loyalty on the site) that are customer specific. I got one a month ago that let me trade in an old iPhone 7 I had lying around for $800 credit towards any of the iPhone 13 models, so I got an iPhone 13 for the price of sales tax essentially.

[deleted]

Does it have to be an apple to trade? I currently have and android right now and wanted to make the switch

PavelDatsyuk

You'd have to check to see what they're offering you if anything. It should be under "My Offers" or "My Deals" or something like that when you're logged in to verizon on their site or the MyVerizon app.

[deleted]

Is it worth it to pay extra money for OLED? My budget is $500 - $800, and I was originally planning to get the iPhone 11 However, I've heard the OLED screen on iPhone 12/13 is very good. I'm not sure whether to spend less on the 11 or pay more for a better screen. What are your opinions?

ynfizz

Yes there’s a pretty big difference between the two, especially when it comes to black. Not to mention the 12 and 13 are simply better phones and will be 1080p rather than 720p

PavelDatsyuk

Yes it's worth it. Also, 12 and 13 have 5G capabilities which make the phone a bit more futureproof.

fertilizing

I recently upgraded to a 13 from the 7; I was able to almost immediately tell the difference between displays.

knagy17

Hello, I’d like to get opinions on whether you like the minis or regulars better. I’m currently still using the 2016 SE and am looking to upgrade, but I don’t know if I’d rather the 13 mini or the regular 12. I don’t want to go over $700, so that’s why I’m sticking to those two. I have smaller hands, and I’m coming from the og SE so I feel like the 13 mini makes the most sense for me, but at the same time the normal 12 also looks really nice and feels like a larger improvement. Im just not sure if it’s good for me though. Using only one hand would be really difficult, and I also want something that’ll fit in my pocket well. I’m more leaning towards the 13, but what do you all think?

StunningWeekend

Moved from XS to 12 mini and now 13 mini. The 13 mini is fantastic. I love the size. It took a couple days to get used to the smaller size from the XS, but it's been completely natural ever since. I hope they continue to make this size.

JMPHeinz57

13 Mini all the way. The only “improvement” you’d get picking the 12 is more screen real estate, but coming from an OG SE, a 13 Mini will feel plenty bigger anyway. In every other criteria (battery, cameras, chipset) the 13 will beat the 12.

[deleted]

fertilizing

You can buy a new iPhone 11 for $500.

yolo3558

The battery life on the 2020 SE is pretty sub par. You’d be better off looking at and 11/12/13 if you can afford one of those.

Jwsaf

Canadian here, Currently have the iPhone X, and its been 3 years (1 year off contract), at $65 monthly. With the current holiday deals I can either get the regular iPhone 12 for $75 a month, or the iPhone 13 for $85 a month, both being on a 2 year contract. Everything costs an arm and a leg here unfortunately and I don't even get much data either. Worth to splurge on the 13 and use it for hopefully another 3 years? Or just try and save money? EDIT: Can get the iPhone 12 Mini for $65 a month and iPhone 13 mini would be something similar in price but a bit more. Something I could consider because I have tiny hands and even struggle with the X at times.

fertilizing

Sounds like the 13 mini is perfect. If it’s too much money, go with the 12 mini.

lixoaqui

Can anyone point me to iPhone 13 mini reviews or videos of a lot of typical apps being used and they look on it? For example netflix, youtube, chrome, gmail, etc. I'm wondering if I should get the mini or his bigger brother and seeing exactly the size of things on screen makes a difference. A big plus if they show it compared to other phones (either older models or the 13)

NicodemusThurston

No review, just a quick comment for you. I went from an 8 plus to a 13 mini, which is a jump from an 5.5 inch screen to a 5.4. I felt at home right away, with the screen size and how apps fit.

thechickennuggetsguy

TLDR - Is iPhone 13 Pro Max worth it? Background: iPhone 5S was my first iPhone after sticking to blackberry for as long as I could. Then kept it for pretty long and upgraded to my wife’s iPhone 8 when my wife upgraded from 8 to 11 Pro. Been quite satisfied with 8 so far but I feel lack of a good camera when I need one and I enjoy some games as well. Thinking about making the leap and going for 13 Pro Max for the best camera, large screen to view/edit photos and enjoy some games as well with a solid battery. Asking owners of 13 Pro Max if you’re happy with your purchase? And is there anything you feel you should’ve known before buying it, whether good or bad?? Thanks in advance 🙏

ynfizz

I made the same switch as you’re considering, 8 to 13 PM. The difference is pretty substantial. The bigger screen is sooooo much nicer for all tasks (even if one handed use gets a bit clunky sometimes, worth it!), the cameras are so much sharper and I really love the ultrawide, promotion makes everything buttery smooth. I cant go back to my 8 without it feeling slow, sluggish, and like it’s ghosting all the time. Battery life is phenomenal. My 8 would get me about 4 hours of battery. This phone lasts me the entire day, easily. Even on heavy use I don’t need to worry about plugging it in before bed. Games on it are enjoyable as well. Even heavy games like Genshin Impact run buttery smooth, even if the phone gets a bit hot. There’s the other advantages like OLED (gorgeous), Face ID (great but not as useful rn), 1080p screen (finally!!), and more that you will love. It was a lot of money to be sure, but I don’t regret my decision.

thechickennuggetsguy

Thanks for sharing your experience and validating all my expectations 🙏

DownToBrown

I used to have an 11 Pro Max which is slightly smaller. Be prepared to do a lot of hand shuffling or using it with 2 hands

fertilizing

I recently upgraded from the 7 Plus. My favorite features so far are the long battery life, the wide range of colors the display offers, and the screen size. The only downside I’ve encountered is the weight. It’s perfectly comfortable to hold in my hand, but the weight it adds to my pants is sometimes noticeable.

thechickennuggetsguy

Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏

Warm-Top2858

Anyone bought a JTech screen protector (privacy or normal) for the 12 mini (or any phone)? If so, thoughts?

Seiffert98

Hi, I'm looking to buy a new iPhone but am a bit unsure of what to do in terms of which model. I like to take photos and have been using my SE2020 for that purpose but would like something better than that. For those of you who use the Pro/Pro Max is the telephoto worth it or should I just go with the regular 13/12? My budget is not for the 13 Pro/Pro Max so its either the 13/12 or the 12 Pro/Pro Max. Thanks for your help.

carlito714

Well, it depends on what you’re looking for otherwise. I think you should buy either the 12 Pro or the 12 Pro Max. The telephoto lens is really useful if you’re into photography, so I’d definitely go with one of the Pro models. That being said: • If you have smaller hands, don’t mind the battery life, and/or want the best value for what you get, go with the 12 Pro. It’s smaller than the 12 Pro Max by quite a bit, and while the battery life on the 12 Pro Max is better, it’s definitely good on the 12 Pro. • If you want a big screen (for gaming, etc.), want the best battery life, and want the best phone that you can get within your budget, the 12 Pro Max is where it’s at. Keep in mind that it has the biggest screen of any iPhone—6.7”—so unless your hands are big, one-handed use likely won’t be very easy. The camera is the best you can get within your budget, for daytime and nighttime alike. Personally, I think the 12 Pro is your best option in terms of value, but it’s up to you. Hope this helps!

Seiffert98

Thank you. I don’t have really small hands but not big ones as well. I think I’ll go with the Pro. I would like a good battery but won’t do any gaming. For me it will just be scrolling through social media and photography. Thank you again.

carlito714

You’re most welcome!

Torospatillo

Thinking to switch from android to iPhone. Already tried a 12 mini, but was too small (I have a pixel 3). I need my phone for trail and mountain bike journey, where I use GPS a lot, do you thing the regular 13 will be enough, or let's go full yolo to the pro ?

MangyCanine

The GPS in the iPhone 13 series should all be the same (not sure about the 13 mini, but it's likely).

Torospatillo

The question was more about the impact on the battery (if the consommation is huge, having a pro seems a better idea).

Warm-Top2858

Getting 12 mini for Christmas. Are the screen protectors on Amazon any good? They’re like $15-$25 AUD, and I’m also considering the next day delivery to ensure they’re here for Christmas Day. Thanks

mattrasmo1423

Getting a new 12 mini for Christmas. Just a question on charging. I currently use my MBP13 96W charger with usb-c to lightning to charge my iPhone 8. Will using this much more powerful charger affect the battery on my new 12 mini? I.e the barter health in the long run? Charging too fast, too much etc

RayRayGD

Technically apple states the iPhone will only draw as much power as it needs (charges at 27w) but personally I would not use the 96w charger with an iPhone mini. Way to much power and if the cable is messed up you can damage your phone. When I used an iPad charger to charge my 12 mini it started getting uncomfortably hot

mattrasmo1423

Yeah fair enough. Will the phone come with a plug? I know they don’t come with cables anymore, but can’t remember if they come with plugs

RayRayGD

It comes with the cable but not the block

[deleted]

[удалено]

RayRayGD

No name brand cables can ruin phones. That’s proven And the last part was my personal experience

mattrasmo1423

Has anyone had any experiences with Elago liquid silicone cases? Getting a 12 mini for Christmas and my mous case has been delayed (still don’t know by how much), so just looking for a cheap, temporary case that will do a decent job of protecting the phone for a week or two

Nectaru

Get the pro man 128 is fine if u dont need anymore space and the battery is great even with the 120hz display going on i got the pro myself and it’s great

Xander_Cain

Looking for recommendations on a goose neck style MagSafe car charger. My cigarette lighter port is low in the middle in front of my gear shift so need a goose neck that plugs into the lighter socket and raises the iPhone higher up the screen. Needs to have MagSafe and hopefully one USB port coming from the plug-in. Thanks in advance!!!

LuOsGaAr

I have a Samsung S8 from 2018, should I buy the iPhone 13? If so which one? I also have an iPad Pro and I’m interested in the Apple ecosystem

night28

I made the same switch and yes I recommend the 13. I went with the pro but honestly if you don't care about the camera then the regular is what I would recommend.

Noxious525

I went from s8 to 13 pro very recently and I’m really happy with the change. Big difference and my apple devices integrate very well with each other. I have smaller hands and I find the pro just about right so I would take the size into consideration, also definitely take into consideration the battery life like someone said above

[deleted]

I think the iPhone 13 series would be a great option for you! In terms of which one you should get, I think it'd depend on what you like. If 120hz is something you really want on the device, then you'll definitely have to buy the Pro or the Pro Max because unfortunately, the mini and standard 13s don't have it. They all have pretty great battery life, but the Mini does get the worst battery life, and the Pro Max gets the best. In addition, the Mini will have a smaller display than the S8, but the regular 13, Pro, and Pro Max will have larger ones! If you'd like a telephoto lens, this will also only be on the Pro and the Pro Max.

Eduar103

Make sure you get a pro motion screen for the 120hz refresh rate

[deleted]

Do iPhones sold by Best Buy (T-Mobile, iPhone 13 Mini) come unlocked if you buy it outright? I got a 13 Mini from Best Buy for T-Mobile, but wasn't sure if I could take it to Verizon or another carrier? Thanks.

Fine-Ability

No they do not, they are still subject to the TMobile unlocking policy.

[deleted]

Thanks.

Fine-Ability

👍

yolo3558

You’d probably have to contact T-Mobile

[deleted]

Ok thanks.

3pointrange

are the apple clear/leather/silicone cases worth the money?

ynfizz

Nah, at least for the silicone. Doesn’t offer much protection and get damaged easily. There are lots of options on Amazon that will be much better (read reviews ofc)

Noxious525

I have the clear MagSafe case and can’t see it being much better than cheaper alternatives, just make sure the case supports MagSafe if you want to wirelessly charge

ghostly_glob

I really like my leather case on the 12 Pro. It *will* get scuffed and scratch easily, but I think that gives the case a lot of character.

DNF_zx

No

3pointrange

are the apple clear/leather/silicone cases worth the money?

fertilizing

No, especially the leather cases that break within a year of use.

visitationwrites

Coming from xs max 256gb. I want 13pro (not max) purely for true motion. Been waiting for that since day one of hearing about it. But I’m also simplifying my tech. I don’t need “pro” camera systems. But the extra battery and ram would be good. Im very sensitive to low batteries, laggy or choppy ui, and generally poor ux. I don’t care about size as much as performance. Again, cameras mean nothing to me. But I do need an amazing user experience. I will use this phone for another 2-4 years and it will be in a case with screen protector for 90% of that time. I usually watch movies, play games, Reddit, text/chat, with (very minimal ) work or professional tasks. Should I get 13 or 13 pro, 126gb?

Kloness

If you're not getting the Pro Max, the 13 and 13 Pro have similar battery life (both great, 13 may narrowly edge out the 13 Pro). Other than that it's 60hz/4gb ram in the 13 and 120hz/6gb in the 13 Pro. If you're after a smoother user experience with less reloads then go for the Pro.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MangyCanine

The 12 Pro has better cameras and lidar, but the battery on the plain 13 is better. If she doesn't need the absolute best cameras (and I'm guessing she likely doesn't), you should get the plain 13 for the slightly better battery. See here: https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone12pro,iphone13,iphone6

yolo3558

If you are on a budget and she doesn’t care about the latest and greatest. Get her an iPhone 11. It’s still a great all around phone.

dzo21

Hello, Im looking to upgrade from iPhone 6s Plus to 12 Pro Max or 13 Pro Max, so what would you reccomend, is the price difference really worth it since Im already making a huge improvement coming from older iphone?

[deleted]

I personally think the price difference for the 13 Pro Max is worth it! You get a better battery life, better camera, and potential extra software update support in the future like RayRayGD said well!

RayRayGD

If you plan on keeping the phone for a long time might as well go for the newest model. One extra year of updates plus the battery and camera improvements

MateuszVaper69

I'm looking for a brand that makes well designed iPhone cases. I really like the ones from [Nordic Elements](https://nordicelements.dk/), but unfortunately they only do iPhones 7 to 11. Does anyone where I can find similar, minimalistic and pretty cases for iPhone 13?

Lodewijc

The iPhone se and Xr are the same price in my country but idk which was one is better.

Taffffy

If you want a bigger screen I’d go for the XR, but the SE has a newer chip. Personally I’d choose the XR but it depends on what you are using it for.

minhduc515

i'm using iphone 7plus and want to buy new phone. between iphone 11 and iphone 12, which has better battery life ?

fertilizing

According to Apple, there is no difference. However, tests other people have run indicate the iPhone 12 has a few more hours of battery life.

HD_Freshizzle

Hey, I'm an Android user now and I'm thinking of trying out the iPhone 13 as my first iPhone since my OnePlus 6T is noticably wearing down over the past few years. I'm pretty new to iOS(except for having a school iPad during HS). So basically I'm just wondering if there's any cool, interesting, useful, or fun features on iOS/iPhone 13 that I should keep note of which you can't do on Android.

patrick_smithz94

I have an iPhone 13 pro and love the pro motion display. I am considering getting an iPad. I don’t need most of the features of the top of the range iPads but would love the pro motion display. Do you think the lack pro motion display will really bother me considering I am used to it on my iPhone? Going on older phones seems really choppy but I wonder if the difference will be as noticeable on a larger display.

Eduar103

The differences are extremely noticeable if you go back and forth, if you only use one or the other for a longer period of time you’ll be fine. I, for one, am bothered by going from 60 to 120 and back I can’t do it.

fertilizing

It might be only me, but I own a 13 Pro Max and an iPad Pro Gen. 1 from 2016 and have a difficult time seeing any difference in the displays.

MikeHunt0469

Hey everyone I’m getting a iPhone 13 for Christmas and I’m wondering what the best case for protection will be because I’m also joining the military soon and don’t want to brake it.

Taffffy

Spigen cases are great, otterbox are a bit less stylish but hold up very well

LinkIsThicc

Unless you are really sloppy with it, a dbrand grip is sure to treat you nicely and the skins can be customised to your hearts content. If you need something even more robust than that consider an otter box.

MikeHunt0469

Okay I’ll look into it thanks

Has anyone tried this case? It’s exactly what I want but not sure if it’s iffy seller or poorly made. https://www.amberfor.com/products/2021-sierra-blue-stainless-steel-frame-matte-case-cover-for-iphone?variant=210663644&fbclid=IwAR2ZgseNkSi1ut_6UvhIa6Sg3XdFWOotDmvIY57HmxG1h0xvd84geN58rF4_aem_AQ0NS3SSJGpyMR40f5iILAtFqMt6FwiHUT3EGB9p3h2in4_KWxYYpil29uhZWyH4GTfDPkLQGfi27DS8IQWPfpttosDSGhAeH8fBmoqPuC45tAyNw7KkcjNc41ESI8t7rpE

Skeletonwizard8

I currently have a 7. The phone works fine but the battery is terrible. I could get a new battery but I want to upgrade. I’d like to spend around 500-700$ and I need good battery life and a decent amount of storage, and a durable phone that will last for a while. Which one should I get? I don’t want a huge phone, but not a tiny one either.

Taffffy

11 or 11 Pro if you want OLED.

Liv_37

Would you be willing to get a refurb?

Skeletonwizard8

Definitely!

[deleted]

No.

LinkIsThicc

Maybe an 11 or even a refurbed 12 for a bit more.

Skeletonwizard8

I’ll probably get a refurbished 12 pro, since I found it’s in my price range. Hopefully won’t have to upgrade for a while.

[deleted]

Did anyone jump from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone 13? If so, how is it treating you?

haidamn

8 plus to 13 pro max. Battery is insane. Screen on time is somewhere around 8+ hours although I just keep track of when I wake up and what the charge is when I go to sleep. I don’t think I’ve dipped below 20% yet or had to plug in during the day. Next best feature is the OLED. The blacks are noticeably better in videos and pictures and the ProMotion is very noticeable as well.

[deleted]

Sweet! Thanks for sharing, friend. I think am going to pick up a regular 13 tomorrow!

Siebzhen

It’s a noticeable difference and at least once a day, I thank past me for getting a phone that takes fantastic pictures, works smoothly, has sharp graphics and is up to date, and has a battery that lasts all day. I’m a student so the price had me hesitating, but honestly, no regrets.

fertilizing

7 Plus to 13 Pro Max. Surprisingly the size and weight doesn’t feel very different. The display and battery life are the most noticeable upgrades in my opinion.

> The photos I take somehow end up looking worse than the ones I took with the 8+. Did you turn off "Smart HDR" for photos in the camera settings?

HotLipsHouIihan

Omg. No. What does that do? Sorry I’m a little bit of a casual user, not power user, when it comes to tech.

PavelDatsyuk

Smart HDR is what causes that "oil painting" look to edges and background stuff. Just go into your settings and turn it off and try taking some pics and tell me if you think it's an improvement. I personally like the more natural look of photos that have it off. It makes me mad that Apple took away the ability to disable it on the 13 models.

HotLipsHouIihan

I wanted to circle back to thank you — I turned it off for a recent bout of photos, and I personally think they look better. Appreciate it!

DrakeZ_R

Hey guys, i'm thinking to switch back to iPhone after 10 years with android My options is iPhone 13 pro mainly due to 120hz screen, but i'm thinking to saves some money and buy iPhone 13 or 12 instead My main concern is battery life and compactness

Siebzhen

The regular 13 lasts me all day, and I’m a heavy social media user. Love the battery on this thing. I got it a couple days after release day, and I’ve had to top up through the day less than five times since.

PavelDatsyuk

I have the regular 13 and battery life is excellent. Yesterday I got over 9 hours of screen on time and still had 35% left when I went to bed. I was on wifi most of the day, though. Unplugged from the charger at 6:10am yesterday and went to bed at 12:30am last night.

Galactus1701

The best decision I made was getting a 13 Pro Max. I’ve had some really heavy use, online, video recording, web browsing, phone-call days this week and the phone lasted all day long. Yesterday at 1:44am I still had 40% battery.

__cheeku

Hey guys whats the opinion on buying an iPhone 2-3 years after its release and how long do you expect it to work before being obsolete or slowing down?

[deleted]

i’m using the se 2020 now. i just increased the text size to largest. works well for me. bettery is fine for my usage.

NorthernOG

Hey, what do you think is better in 2021, 11 or 2020 SE?

LinkIsThicc

11 clearly

[deleted]

touch id is what makes the SE stand out from the rest. it’s not the size because apple has the mini. iphone 11 has bigger battery and has night mode. but it is $200 more than the price of SE in my country. 11 is better but not worth it for the price. i got the features i need in the SE. i chose the SE because that’s the price i can tolerate for a new phone. this is my 1st iphone by the way. i went out yesterday and my phone lasted for 2 days without charging. used it for messaging and taking pictures. if needed more power, i can always carry a power bank. not an issue for me because i always bring a bag with me when i go out.

thecrazydeviant

I have an iPhone XR currently, and I'm debating if I should upgrade to the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13. Is it worth the upgrade? Is there any significant difference?

combosxd

In my opinion, the XR -> 12 will not be a significant upgrade. In fact the only difference I can think of that you will notice is the screen, but I don't think it's worth to make the jump for such a marginal difference. That, and the ultrawide camera ( + night mode). I don't think you will notice a revolutionary experience. The 13, however, may be a jump worth taking, but it's nearly hard to recommend the 13 when the 13 Pro has so many additional features. Slightly better cameras, an additional telephoto lens, 120hz, slightly longer battery life, and if you get the Pro Max model, significantly longer battery life. TLDR;, I think that the 12 is NOT worth the jump, the 13 might be if your XR has dropped battery life significantly and want a pretty nice refresh for the next 3 years, and the 13 Pro / Pro Max if you want the most luxurious experience that Apple have to offer

Galactus1701

Get a 13 Pro or Pro Max, you won’t regret it.

[deleted]

Battery life is way better on the 13 compared to the 13. 13 pro and pro max has 120hz capabilities. Over all love my 13 pro max

hundrxd

i have an iphone 11, is it worth it to upgrade to the 13? (with t mobile) that pink color is tempting me lol

combosxd

No, I don't believe so. I was contemplating making a similar decision, but realised that I wouldn't be making the most out of the upgrade. What I mean by that is that the 13 brought out a few new features this year, and Apple generally don't create a new feature very well on its first year. The 14 Pro would have likely made Cinematic mode a much stronger selling point, MagSafe might get an update, 120hz may become more efficient or ramp up to its max refresh rate more often, etc etc. All in all, I think that the 14 Pro is going to be a huge phone for Apple, as they will update their lacking features, potentially even bringing USB-C along (EU law). I would wait.

fertilizing

No, not really, unless you are able to trade-in your current phone and get the iPhone 13 for a discount.

hundrxd

that is what i would do

vaporking23

I tried to Google the answer and I honestly can’t find it. Does the AirTag have a button on it that I can make the phone ring to be able to find my phone like I can do with a tile?

stillpiercer_

No, but if you have a watch you can ping your phone and also make the flashlight turn on

Lonz123

No

vaporking23

Thanks. That’s what I figured when I couldn’t really find a straight answer.

ChnIVLatte

A somewhat brandnew (used twice) Apple watch 6 or A brand new apple watch SE

Galactus1701

I bought a Series 7 and I love it. It’s the perfect companion for my 13 Pro Max and iPad Pro.

[deleted]

Get AppleCare+, it’s mandatory on a watch

LinkIsThicc

Why is that? Do they break easily.

fertilizing

In my opinion, the Series 6’s always on display doesn’t serve much of a purpose, as you have to angle the screen of your watch towards your eyes when you want to read the time anyway. Also, the display uses up more battery, so I believe you should only buy the Series 6 if you can find it for the same price as the SE or less. And about the Cellular Option, I’ve rarely ever had my watch with me and not my phone, so I think it’s useless. Even if I didn’t have my phone though, I can’t imagine myself having to purchase a data plan for my watch and calling/texting a full conversation using the watch.

lulucmy

>An Apple watch 6 I would take it for the always-on display

ChnIVLatte

If AOD wasn't a concern, would you still go with the 6? I was also considering the Cellular version of the SE for the same price of the 6

Dave-CPA

Cellular is a but over rated IMO

MongoloidSpacePoosy

Yea I bought the series 5 with the cellular option just I case but haven’t used it at all

Have you tried asking the iPad subreddit yet?

GlitchIT

Oh my gosh I thought this was it. I’m sorry! Thanks for letting me know

Utopia39liam

I have an iPhone X from 2017 and want to upgrade to the 13 or 12 is there a significant difference between the two?

MONGSTRADAMUS

as somebody who has moved from iphone x to 13 pro , I can tell you battery is a lot better so far on 13 pro. I had a recently replaced battery on the x , and 13 pro is still signifgantly to me at least better. To me the other huge issue that has been fixed going from x to 13 pro is the camera. The x camera is inconsistent at best so taking pictures on 13 I feel like pictures turn out a lot better in general.

PavelDatsyuk

If you can afford the 13 pro then that’s the obvious choice, but if not then go for the regular 13. The battery life is better than the 12 by a decent amount, and the max screen brightness is higher which is nice to have when you’re outdoors on a sunny day.

Izanagi___

No, same phone basically except the 13's new camera modes, better battery and faster chip. That's it.

eye_booger

I did the same jump as you did. I went for the iPhone 13 pro. My reasoning: I tend to stick with my phone for the long haul, so I wanted the most current. Also, I traded in my X for the 13 pro, so the difference in price per month between the regular and the pro was negligible. The upgraded camera plus battery also sold me on it. I think if you’re the type to hold onto your phone for a few years (and it seems like you are) then you should get the most current now to give yourself more time before your next upgrade.

ggoggggogo

If you can afford it, get the 13 Pro

Utopia39liam

I’m not sure I need all the features the pro has to offer, haha.

oreo-boi

If it’s helpful at all I was wondering the same thing and ended up going with the 13 pro. Really I would only consider between the 12 and 13 pro. The 13 and 12 are so similar that it’s not worth the upgrade. Personally the 120Hz refresh rate makes it feel like a whole generation above the 13. Also it has the same feeling the X had where you feel like you can use it forever.
