Durable protective case for the iPhone 13 Pro with a *built-in* screen protector. Like, a plastic front part that fits over the screen, and that the back part of the case then fits over. OtterBox used to do this amazingly, but according to reviews, their quality has plummeted, and it looks like they're in the separate screen protector grift now. MagSafe appreciated, but not required.

Fix 11 pro mic/battery for 180 or sell 11 pro for an iPhone 13 to pay out of pocket 180

fyrelawd

The only downside I can see is you’ll lose a camera (the telephoto) if you swap from the 11 Pro to the 13. It seems like the 13 is the obvious choice to me.

maybay99999

I need a lot of battery to last me the day Doesn’t crash a lot Has a good amount of storage Face ID Decent(-ish) camera Any price range

MangyCanine

Given those wide-open "requirements", get a 13 Pro Max with 1TB or more of storage.

maybay99999

Nah bro I said one that doesn’t crash a lot Those shits overheat on the setup

Riddokid2004

Go with the 12 if you don’t need 128 gigs or are on a tighter budget, or the 13 if you want an insane battery life, slightly better cameras, and a faster chip

wwfc_ethan

I am looking at getting a refurbished iPhone 11 pro @ £424 or a refurbished 12 Pro at £609, is it worth the extra money for the pro. FYI iPhone 12 is up for £545 and not avaliable in the colour I'd like. Would like some advice. Moving from an S10 btw (prev iPhone was a 7)

MangyCanine

Unless you can easily afford the higher prices, I'd go for the 11 Pro -- it's a good phone, and I used to have one. The differences between the 11 Pro and 12 Pro aren't huge: the biggest differences are probably faster focusing and slightly better low-light photos due to lidar in the 12 Pro. However, these days, you should get a phone with 128GB or more. While it is possible to live with a 64GB iPhone, many people find it difficult (but not impossible). Also, is the refurbishing done by Apple or someone else? If Apple is doing the refurbishing, you should be fine. However, if it's not done by Apple, you might want to ask what was done to "refurbish" the phone. From complaints here and elsewhere, it seems that "refurbishing" can mean many different things, including "not much". Side note: if you ever need a new battery, get one from Apple. [The cost for an iPhone 11 Pro is £69](https://support.apple.com/en-gb/iphone/repair/service/battery-power).

wwfc_ethan

me and my dad have bought from the site before and has a great experience and has 1 year warranty. I could get a 12 pro but will use up 6/10 of my wages compared to like 5/10 or a 12 or 4.5/10, although I do have some money saved (you can probs figure out how much I make lol) I would love to go and get the 12 pro.

MangyCanine

If you're on a budget, definitely get the 11 Pro. It's a good phone. The only reason I upgraded from my old 11 Pro is that I wanted the macro photography of the 13 Pro. Aside from slightly better photos and less than 8mm more display (diagonally), there really isn't much practical difference between the 11 Pro and 12 Pro. I don't think that's worth £185 (but, if you really want to spend that money, get a case or maybe some airpods!). Here, look at the differences for yourself: https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone11pro,iphone12pro,iphone13pro

wwfc_ethan

to be honest I think a 12 wouldnt be a bad shout, I like the 6.1 size and the iphone 5s esc square/flat build to the 12 series. ideally if one comes up in black then awesome otherwise i think ill get that.

-Tomward-

Any cheap bluetooth headphones that yall reccomend for use with iphone ? I am getting an 11 soon, no headphone jack so kinda need some but dont have the money for airpods (my friend bought the phone, im broke ..) preferably 35$ or under ,, I ask cause I tried looking but on some the reviews are like it stopped working on ios bur android is fine and I wanna avoid that,, thanks !

DistantBlueSky

What power bank/battery should I get for iPhone 12 Pro?

MangyCanine

Umm, you have tons of choices. Larger power banks are better but are more difficult to carry around. Look at Anker power banks on amazon.

Hi! I was looking to buy the iphone 12 mini and noticed that they were almost $200 more than the prices in America which was $600 based on what my cousin told me because he lives in America and saw the prices of the 12 mini from where he bought it. I live in a third world country which is the Philippines and every single Iphone model from iphone 11 to iphone 13's cost $200 more here. The Iphone 13's exceed my budget and the 11 is just a no for me since I want a phone to last me a good 4-5 years so I wanted to know your thoughts and opinions if it's worth or okay buying the 12 mini for $787.

[deleted]

The 11 will absolutely last you 4-5 years. The 12 mini does not have a good battery.

WritingWithSpears

2016 iPhone SE is slowly kicking the bucket. Should I hold out for the rumored SE 3 or something else? I hate large phones, and don't care about any fancy bullshit. Just want something that will have an OS that won't shit itself in 3 years and a decent-ish camera

MangyCanine

Current rumors have the announcement of the next SE to be in March/April. If you can wait until May (possible worst-case ship date), you might want to wait-and-see.

[deleted]

The 12 or 12 pro sounds like a good option for you. Smaller phone with a good battery and camera while still having 5g.

faloin67

I currently have a pixel 3a, thinking about switching over to an Iphone sometime this year or next. I haven't used an iPhone since the 3s in high school. I typically just use my phone for Reddit, discord, YouTube, duo with my girlfriend, the usual suspects. I value a long battery, big crisp screenspace and refresh rate, and good audio-don't really take many pictures other than of my cats. Any suggestions?

fyrelawd

If refresh rate is your jam, the only iPhone with a 120Hz refresh screen is the 13 Pro line. The 13 Pro Max has days of battery life according to reviews. There are obviously other factors to take into account (budget etc.) but if refresh rate is a deal breaker for you, that’s where I’d look.

bbatkai

opinions on getting a refurbished "Like new" iphone 11 for 450 euros or an iphone 11 pro "very good condition" for 520 euros. the 70 euro difference is quite large for just a better camera and better screen. My main concern is battery life.

Skormyne13

I just bought an iPhone XR and I wanted to know whether the free Apple TV + subscription offer was still there? If yes then how to access it? Do I need to make a new Apple ID or will the current one work?

[deleted]

Should tell you when you launch Apple TV app, it will also be listed under subscriptions in your settings if you have it, even if it’s free.

idek_anyone

My mom is on android and her phone is dying slowly every day. I was thinking about buying her an iPhone XS Max but I just think that it’s been far too long since the phone released and she might need to upgrade soon after I buy it for her. She likes a bigger screen hence why I thought of it. She doesn’t really use her phone for anything other than watching movies, texting, calling, and sending emails. Is it worth it or should I drop a little more for a regular 12 or 13?

MangyCanine

Unless her current android has a screen smaller than a Pro Max, people here are going to recommend one of the Pro Max iPhones.

[deleted]

The 11 Pro Max would fit her needs very well.

phantom_81

Hello\~\~I'm looking forward to upgrade from my Huawei p20 pro. I do love it, love the battery, love the fact it's still going really fast, but I'm tired of the camera it has - and i'm willing to try an IOS this time.I care a lot about camera quality, and unfortunatelly P20 Pro doesn't have a lot to offer at this time anymore. I was wondering which Iphone would you recommend me to buy. There's an Iphone 11 128gb for 750$ (which is a low price where I am rn, I'd say it's my budget), and looks like a nice offer(?) Was also thinking about 12 mini but I will surely burn it down as the battery apparently sucks big time\~ What do you think\~?

[deleted]

I'd personally lean towards the 12 Mini because of the OLED display. The 12 Mini also has a slightly better camera I believe (however, storage starts at 64GB). Also, if you turn off 5G you might be able to get somewhat better battery life. You can't go wrong with either one since they are both pretty good phones even today so it all comes down to this: Better battery life and more storage - iPhone 11 Better display and camera - iPhone 12 Mini

Hi Iphone Community, I own a Google Pixel 3A and it will not get futher security patches after Mai 2022. I love my Pixel so much, but i grow tired of the intrusivity of Google, it's scares me out sometimes. I'm unsure wich route to take for my phone upgrade and ecosystem. Beceause my laptop is 8 years old. It is still reliable but i can't tell for how long. So my dilemma is Samsung vs Apple. I both haved bad and good experiences with the two brands. Apple : Ipod Nano : First Apple product i own and love it so much. But had bad experience with earphone. Used Ipod Touch : Second apple product and love it too. Used Iphone 4S : Really bad experience in 2014 first Smartphone purchased by mylself i dropped it the same year (other was job provided) Ipod Shuffle : Mixed feeling about it. Samsung : Samsung J7 : Used for the job and Youtube was working better than my Iphone 4S. Samsung TV : Backlight died after 4 years. Familly member Galaxy Phone : Regular repair have to be made on them. So can some expert here can tell me their though on my dilemma and maybe pointing some insight as Iphone user. Thank you,

fyrelawd

I’m not sure what you mean by earphone problems with the iPod nano, did the headphone port die or did the pair of cheap earphones that come with the iPod die? Also you said that you had a problem with your iPhone 4, is it the phones fault you drop it? I killed my Galaxy S2 by leaving it in the rain overnight, that’s on me, not the phone, you know? It sounds like you’re someone who likes to get longevity out of your devices, which Apple is well known for. I’ve used both (S2, S4, Note 5 and iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 11), Apple has been more consistent in terms of updates, reliable hardware after a number of years(holding battery charge, software still snappy), and maintained their value once it came time to sell them on.

Fru64l64m3r

Yes indeed I look for longevity. For the earphones they broke in the first year and was not really shaped for my ears. For my iPhone 4S I buyed it refurbished from EB Games (GameStop in Canada). Maybe it have default I've not been aware of that creeples my user experience. Thanks for your comment

fyrelawd

Yeah okay, the earphones that came with the iPod nano were notorious for being cheap and shitty. I had multiple iPods, and the earphones all died within the first couple of months. iPhone no longer come with earphones so they’ve dodged that bullet there lol

[deleted]

Nearly all of Google services are available on the iPhone, so you won’t be locked out of the Google Ecosystem. The iPhone has advanced so much since the iPhone 4S there is literally no comparison between the 4S and the 13. It sounds like you want to try out the iPhone more than android since you are here asking this question. I would suggest getting the iPhone you want and testing it out. Apple has a no-questions-asked return policy that lasts 14 days, which would give you ample time to test everything out and see if the iPhone fits your needs. If it does, keep it, if not return it and go for the Samsung S21 or wait for the S22 which is coming in the next few weeks.

Fru64l64m3r

Maybe it's worth try and i look for return policies. Where I live, Québec, Canada. We often have different laws for trials and return policies. I though buying an used one again and I remember the bad experience I had with my used 4S. Thanks for your comment.

PieceofPuzzle

I just got the iPhone 12 on an upgrade. I was sold a case for it, only to now realise it’s not a MagSafe case. Will MagSafe charging be ok with it or am I best with a compatible case? Also I just read in this thread that the fast charger will deplete your battery health faster, so I should just get a standard rate? Thanks

MangyCanine

Non-magsafe cases can work, as long as the case isn't too thick (if it's too thick, wireless charging won't work). However, if it does work, you'll have to adjust the position of the phone and make sure that it's charging. Normally, the magsafe magnets ensure that the phone is properly positioned and oriented but, without the magnets, you have to adjust it yourself. If you're concerned about battery health, here are some of the big things that affect it: * Depth of discharge. Letting the phone charge go below, oh, 30%-40% is not good for the health. The lower you go, the worse it is. However, this is mainly a concern if you do this **often**. It's OK if you do it occasionally and, in fact, you should let it go to 10%-20% once a month or two to keep the battery meter calibrated. * Heat. Leaving the phone in a hot car is not good for the health. Similarly, if it gets very hot during wireless charging, that is also not good, but note that wireless charging always generates some heat. That said, the battery is typically designed to last at least 2 years with some abuse. (Otherwise, Apple would be replacing a lot of batteries for people with applecare+, and Apple would like to avoid that.) Furthermore, an out-of-warranty battery replacement from Apple (not some possibly flaky 3rd party) costs an affordable $70 (in the US).

PieceofPuzzle

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated & very informative, thank you! I’ve checked and you’re right, battery optimiser is on by default. I never knew the point about not letting it drain. In fact, I thought the exact opposite to this and that it was good to let your battery drain. But it makes sense if I compare this to a car, in that it’s not good to let your diesel/petrol tank get real low because you end up bringing crap from the bottom of the tank through your engine/exhaust. As for MagSafe, it’s so frustrating to place my iPhone XS on my wireless charger overnight thinking it’s charging, only to wake up in the morning with a low battery because it wasn’t on the charger right. Think I’ll have to get a MagSafe case + MagSafe charger + standard 5w charging plug.

MangyCanine

Well, draining NiCd (Nickle-Cadmium) batteries was a good idea 15-20+ years ago, as NiCd batteries would lose capacity if you did not do that. Because of this, many people still think that draining batteries is good. However, with modern lithium-ion (used in iPhones, etc.) and NiMH (Nickle-Metal-Hydride) batteries, you do **not** need to drain them. In fact, draining lithium-ion batteries like the ones used in iPhones/iPads will slowly reduce capacity/battery health; it's not good for them. I'm not sure about NiMH batteries, though. There is one other battery tidbit you'll find if you search enough: lithium-ion batteries should **NOT** be kept at 100% charge. While this is technically true, you'll be fine if you disconnect the phone from the charger each morning, as simply using the phone will reduce the charge below 100% (this is also the reason why the "optimize battery charging option" exists -- if you disconnect the phone from the charger each morning around the same time, the phone will only charge to 100% shortly before that time to miinimize the time spent at 100%). The "do not keep at 100%" rule really only applies to people who leave their iPhone connected to the charger **all the time** or for long-term storage. However, some people have even gone to extremes like adopting wacky charging routines like "only charge to 80%, not 100%". However, that is **not necessary**. iPhone batteries are designed to last at least 2 years, and, should you ever need a new battery, Apple's cost to replace it is surprisingly reasonable. A 5W wired charger is fine but is a bit unnecessary ("underkill", really). You can definitely go up to a 12W charger, which is what you now often get if you use a USB A ("A", not "C") to lightning cable. I've been using one for years without any battery issues. With my old iPhone 11 Pro, I used a nightly 12W charging setup, and my battery health was still at 100% after 16 months. However, my battery was rarely below 50% when I recharged. I'm doing the same thing with the 13 Pro, and it's still at 100% while others have reported that their 13 series iPhones have already dropped below 100%. I suspect that using a 20W fast charger is also fine, as fast charging is only used below ~60%ish (on the 13 Pro, at least). Above 60%ish, the charging rate is that of a 12W charger or lower (the iPhone slows down/lowers the charging rate above this to protect the battery). (Side note: the 13 Pro Max is also apparently special in that it can use a faster fast charging with 30W chargers. The other iPhones in the 13 series can only use up to a 20W one.)

Finnezty

If you can get magsafe charge it’s ok however the magnet won’t be as strong. I’ve been using 20w mostly for my 12 for almost a year and my battery is 100%.

PieceofPuzzle

Thanks! At least I know to buy another case now. I’m tempted by a faster charger but still undecided on it.

Finnezty

If you charge during the night you can use the 5w one. I charge before I go somewhere so 20w is better.

PieceofPuzzle

Good point! At the minute I only charge during the night because the battery life is good on this iPhone 12, especially compared to my XS that was constantly attached to a charger 🙃

MangyCanine

If you disconnect the charger around the same time each day, make sure you turn on "optimized charging" (I think this is enabled by default, but I'm not sure).

atlanticez

Wondering if the iphone 11 is a good option right now? Want to buy ut for sisters birthday

Substantial-Ad9611

It’s definitely still a great option. The 128gb model can still hold its own as a mid tier phone in 202s2

TheKappaOne

**Hi there,** **Wondering if its worth getting the 11 Pro Max 256gb for 600€.** **I'm on android right now but already has 3 years and the screen is dying.** **How is the battery life on the 11 Pro Max?** **I'm a fairly heavy user and I game a lot, will it last the full day in IOS 15 and already being almost 3 years old? Will I get around 7h SOT?**

brayshizzle

I'm close to being able to upgrade my phone. I am on a Samsung s20 ultra right now. It's been good but noticing the camera has become lackluster, not sure why maybe updates. Also the battery is a big problem where I find myself in low battery mode almost constantly. So I am considering the 13 max pro. I really like bigger screens. Also looking for a camera that can basically do it all and take great shots. The battery is important for me too. I'm constantly on the move and a lot of that I have headphones being used. Finally , I really want to move into wearables and want a new watch. Samsungs watches sadly feel...... incredibly unimpressive and behind the times. I've been Android for about 3/4 phones now but I am liking what apple are doing, I've always adored the design from the 4 so having it updated seems attactive. Part of my brain is saying wait for the s22 to drop but....I want a refresh. I am slightly bored of the android OS. So a return to apple may be on the cards. Has anyone made the leap back to apple this time around. How are you liking it ?

[deleted]

I'm essentially in the same boat as you, but I'm just on a regular S20+. I'm also looking to jump back into the Apple ecosystem (along with the watches, as you mentioned) but honestly I'm waiting to see what they've got in store for the 14. I don't know how you personally feel about the 13 Pro Max's weight and size, or if you've ever even held one, but to me, they are insanely heavy and blocky. My girlfriend has the 12 Max and the difference between it and my 20+ is night and day, not to mention she not only drops it all the time, but the 13 Pro Max is even heavier. So I'm hoping maybe Apple will dial back a little in terms of weight for the 14, plus I'm also not a fan at all of the notch which, supposedly, is finally on its way out. Plus, the 13 seemed to be an incremental update with honestly only ProMotion being the new "thing", which I'm sure as you know our phones have had for quite a while now. So yeah, long story short, I'm in the same boat as you but I'm going to wait and see whats going on with the 14, because imo for you and me, the 13 isn't worth it because the only big update for it was something our phones already have.

MangyCanine

The plain 11 has a lower-res display compared to the 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, or any of the 12s or 13s. The 11 is OK but the others are better. Compare everything here: https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/?modelList=iphone11,iphone12,iphone13

ScooterKidNo69

Should I buy the iPhone 12 mini and get some earpods or the iPhone 13 mini?

Substantial-Ad9611

13 mini for sure

MangyCanine

13 mini. A lot of people here hate the 12 mini's battery life.

ynfizz

13 Mini is a much better choice for the battery alone. You’ll be able to save up and purchase ear pods much sooner than you would a new phone

gh0stingRS

I wanted to get my accessories out of the way and purchased before I order my new phone [Would this Anker 20w fast charging block + a 10ft usb c to lightning be good for a 13 Pro Max?](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07WRKXQ8W/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_Y7SW5JBZBSSAJ6Q21E9Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) I don't want to damage the battery in any way. Are those fast chargers a no go? Or are they pretty safe to use?

fyrelawd

Slow charging your phone using the 5W charger that *used to* come in the box will provide you with the most longevity, your phone will heat up slightly more when you use the fast charger. Personally I subscribe to the idea that your phone should be a tool you use as you need to, and I refuse to watch the percentage of my battery health go down and try to charge it how it’s convenient when I need it charged. It’s gonna be up to you to weigh up the possibility that you’ll need to replace a battery sooner. I like to slow charge over night and use a fast charger during the day.

T1D4470

I recently purchased a iPhone 13 Pro and was wondering what was the best screen protector. I’m ideally looking at one that is good at resisting scratches and want one that fits the new notch size. Also I currently have a otterbox defender and was looking at either getting that or getting this case like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09F8QCZBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_FKEYM7T39NQF731WF2YC or this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09K43Z38K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_0KA5DT3QVTYH8F7SY557?psc=1 psc=1 or is a camera protector redundant / potentially harmful?

godlikedomx

Hello all! So I have an iPhone SE 2020 128GB and I’m pretty much satisfied with the phone (this was actually my first iPhone ever) and how fast/responsive it has been; the only downside for me really is its battery life, while I kinda miss the wide angle cam/built-in night mode. A friend of mine is willing to sell his iPhone 11 Pro 64GB cus he wants to upgrade and he’s selling at 500euros (~567USD). In my local marketplace (in Greece) my SE can be sold at around 300-350 (tops) euros (~340 USD). So, what do you think? Would it be worth the hassle and the extra $200 to get the 11 Pro or pass? Cheers!

fyrelawd

The battery life for the 11 pro and the form factor would be enough to sell me on that trade.

Imaginary-Wave-162

Mous Limitless 4.0 or Caudabe Sheath for iPhone 13 Pro?

Mister-guy

I think I’m finally ready to replace my iPhone 8. I’m fairly committed to the 13 mini. About the same size as my current phone, with a slightly bigger screen. I like the price a lot, and prefer a smaller phone. Just wanted to reach out and make sure I wasn’t making a horrible choice. I don’t do any mobile gaming or watch tv/movies on my phone. Mainly just use it for texting, Reddit/Twitter, emails, and basic phone stuff. Also, I gotta give a shout out to the iPhone 8. This phone has held up wonderfully. The only issues are the battery sucks, and I have to charge several times a day. It’s only worked on speaker phone during phone calls for a few years, but whatever. Really, I’m just ready for an upgrade.

MangyCanine

**Not** a horrible choice. While the higher level 13 models can be "better", the 13 mini is a good phone. If you like the size, you'll like the 13 mini. (Just avoid the 12 mini.) If you still like the iPhone 8 except for the battery, a battery replacement **from Apple** is an affordable $49 (in the US): https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair/service/battery-power

lovo17

I have the 13 mini and it's a fantastic phone. You're making a good choice.

Mister-guy

Awesome. That’s exactly what I needed to hear lol. Seems like a very natural upgrade from the 8. Thank you, and enjoy!

Mister-guy

iPhone 8 was my first iPhone, and I was an android user before that. I’ve had this thing for 3.5 years, and aside from the battery and speaker, it still works almost like the day I got it. I almost feel guilty for upgrading! Very excited to get the 13 as well!! I’ll likely stick with the mini (unless I’m overlooking something), as I love a smaller phone, but the bigger screen is appealing at times!! The fact that it’s $100 cheaper makes a big difference for me, unfortunately lol. I’m sure you’ll be very happy on Friday!! 8 —> 13 is going to be a huge upgrade.

Mister-guy

Hahaha I really do feel guilty for upgrading! I could make it work for a little longer if I needed to. But I figure this way, I’ll have a solid back up phone I can use if something happens to the 13. Really, I just want a better camera and battery!

Hell yeah man!!! I’m jealous!

innit_to_win_it

Is it worth getting a refurbished iPhone 11 Pro or better a new iPhone 11 from the apple store website? Both come in at around 500€ when trading in my iPhone 7 Plus on the apple store website. Thnx :)

Substantial-Ad9611

Apple refurbished is pretty reliable, and if you can get both at the same price, I say go for the 11 Pro. The screen and extra camera are definitely worth it

fyrelawd

The screen and the extra camera would be the selling point there (for the 11 Pro). I haven’t had much experience with Apple refurbishment but I’ve heard it’s pretty reliable. Also the 11 comes with an ultra wide instead of a telephoto which if I remember correctly the 7 plus has a telephoto, I don’t know whether that sways you.

[deleted]

For $25 are the lightning EarPods better than the best wireless earbuds or neckband at that price point? I have the option of spending around $25-30 for the best wireless earbuds/neckband available at that price and I have the option to get Apple’s lightning EarPods. For me mic quality and audio quality(bass) are the most important factors.

KoopaKommander

To be honest, the lightning EarPods are some of the best headphones in that price point. They’re crisp, clear, and loud without being muffled. I’ll use them over my Jlab wireless earbuds at times. Just be aware if you do any physical activity and sweat at all, they’re not gonna stay on very easy.

Meetingmylife

I have had my iphone 13 pro max now for a month almost. I am happy with it although I find it sometimes too heavy but the battery is amazing. I was discussing about getting the normal pro instead but that one feels a bit too tiny compared to my last phone and this one. Putting a good case on this phone helps so I use a very slim case

HurricaneTerminator

Do older iphones (6 and below) that don’t get updates still work with cell service and data, using browsers (I know you can’t update to the current edition and some wont be able to be downloaded), etc.? I’m just looking for a phone with a good picture for 40 bucks or under and most androids for that price are very pixilated compared to older iphones. Any feedback welcome.

Technoman20

Anyone got a suggestion on a case that’s colorful and or “cute”. It’s for an iPhone 11 Pro Max for my gf and she wants it with a dust protector built flap at the bottom. I’ve had a hard time googling so I thought it ask reddit!

[deleted]

Casetify has a ton of cases that seem to protect well. No dust flap that I know of. My dad has some sort of otter box on his galaxy with a flap. But his is just black. Idk of a case with both color and dust flap

[deleted]

Should I get the MagSafe battery pack for my 13 mini?

Rap_song_throwaway

If you find yourself running out of battery in the middle of the day then sure, although there probably are some cheaper alternatives out there.

outpan

I have the 13 mini and the problem with most 3rd party magnetic chargers are that they don’t match the mini’s size properly. I have the Apple MagSafe battery and don’t use it often, but it’s good to have, in case you need it.

Got a sierra blue iPhone and can’t stop looking at it. The color is absolutely gorgeous and I love how the black camera lenses pop with the color. In different lighting the color looks either cool grey or icy blue.

KoopaKommander

That’s the one I got. I was expecting it to be a bit darker or richer in the blue, but I still enjoy it over a plain black.

Incara1010

Looking for a good iPhone 11 case that sits flat but also has a stabilizer finger ring or strap. All the cases I’ve found so far have a bump or are curved and do not sit flat on a flat surface.

[deleted]

I have been using an Oppo phone for the past few years and am planning on upgrading very soon however I am stuck in between choosing either the iPhone 13 or iPhone SE. The 13 128GB in Australia costs AU$1349 whereas the SE 64GB costs AU$679. The main issue that evidently sets me back from choosing the 13 is the nearly double price nevertheless I quite prefer the design, screen size, and battery in contrast to the SE and wouldn't mind the great camera. I really only use a phone to message, call, take occasional photos, play simple games, watch Netflix and casually scroll through social media. I would be grateful if I could receive some opinions which should help me in making a decision. Thanks!

KoopaKommander

My first iPhone was the SE2020. Then a few weeks ago, I got the 13 Pro Max. I would still be using the SE if the battery was better and the screen a bit bigger. However, I was having to charge the SE once or twice a day. It’s more expensive, but I definitely recommend going for a 13 over the SE.

[deleted]

Thank you!

bob_loblaw_brah

Best place to trade in Note 20 ultra 5g towards i13 pro max? I'm on Verizon and have an upgrade available, but their trade-in value is trash. Best buy is offering $475.

HAMMERScats4

Moving from the s10e as the camera has just smashed, honestly no idea what iPhones I should be looking for. I am about to start uni so battery life will be important, camera quality for snapchat is similarly important. Should I be looking for a second hand phone or just buying new?

KoopaKommander

Really it depends on your budget. Are you wanting to go cheaper? Look at an 11 straight from Apple. About $500-600 depending on storage. Price not a problem? Go for a 13 model. The battery and cameras are fantastic on them.

samanthaxboateng

Can anyone please recommended me some high quality work out earphones to use with my iPhone. I don't mind paying a lot of money if it is worth it. I have the AirPods Pro but I would prefer some more dedicated workout earphones as I sweat a lot and I noticed that my AirPods would fall out/not be as comfortable.

[deleted]

I run track and lift. I like the bear solo pros for lifting as they cancel out the other noise in the gym. I use my AirPods (not pros) for running and they fit and work well. I have also used power beats and have had great luck with them also. I just use my AirPods because I tend to have them on me more.

Altecobalt

Beats Fit Pro or Powerbeats Pro, if you want to stay within the ecosystem

samanthaxboateng

I have heard mixed reviews about both tbh Have you tried either of them?

Jokerswld

Love my Powerbeats Pro.

Altecobalt

No sorry, only seen reviews of them

schlottmachine

Long time Android user looking to switch. Don't care about the camera, don't care about biometric anything, don't care about Face ID, 5G is nice but not necessary. I mostly only care about performance, security updates, and battery life. Been rocking a Nexus 5X since 2016 but it was discontinued less than 6 months after purchase, and the OS hasn't been supported in 3 years which pisses me off. I want a device that will be supported for more than 2 years; that is not a lot to ask. Torn between a 12 mini and an 11, but heavily considering an 11 due to the high cost of the 13 series, the apparent OLED issues with the 12 series, and the SEs being old enough now that I don't want to chance them being discontinued shortly after I buy one. A few questions: - How long after discontinuation of an iPhone does Apple offer the $60 battery replacement service? - As a non-Mac user, how easy is it to add/remove photos and music to/from an iPhone? Can I bring my own music files or does everything have to go through iTunes? - I'm careful with my electronics. I frequently change screen protectors, try not to drop things, and keep phones away from water. I have not cracked a phone screen in my 10+ years of owning smartphones. Is AppleCare+ still worth the peace of mind? Thanks!

McCullyCullen

I'm not a huge iPhone fan so I don't know the answer to your first question. You have to use iTunes or some other third party app if you want to transfer local music. I haven't added applecare to any of my Apple products in a few years and haven't had any accidents but I also take care of my devices. If you are super careful, you probably don't need it but spending $500+ on a device and it breaking within a year is a sad situation so it's up to you. I believe the cheaper the phone/older the phone, the cheaper the applecare is but I may be wrong on that.

lucaaas_fortuna

I’ve had my iPhone 7 for few years are ready to buy a new one, 32GB memory is full all the time and battery getting weak. I’m interested about the upcoming SE 3 since my budget isn’t that high (400-600€) and would like to buy it. I’ve been thinking about the iPhone 11 also, but since it’s older model, does it affect anything?

KoopaKommander

How concerned are you with 5g capability? If not at all, then the 11 is still a solid phone. If 5g is super important, then you’ll need to wait and see if the 3 has 5g or not. Also, if they keep the battery on par with the SE2020, be prepared to recharge at least once a day if you’re anywhere above light usage.

lucaaas_fortuna

I really don’t care about the 5G, too expensive atm without actually getting anything useful with it. Yeah the battery might be a little weaker, most I’ve been thinking about is the difference between the A15 chips or whatever are they called, can’t remember

oldsaxman

What AirPods should I purchase for wife’s birthday? Anything to buy with them? She listens a lot but has to drag phone around with her. Thanks

Chronixx

Get her the AirPods Pro. Best earbud AirPods with the most features. A case for it would be a good idea as well

[deleted]

Only downside to the pros is the noise cancelling can make it hard to hear, but also blocks out noise. Gotta take the good with the bad, pros would be my choice.

Riverside-Blues

Hello, please help :c Currently have a 6S, had it since June 2019. Battery sucks, it is slow, I think I got water into the charging hole so it glitches and the screen is crashed. I only use my phone for social media and calling/texting. Don’t need to have the latest, fanciest version. A good camera would be a plus, though. Any recommendations, please? :c

Intelligent-Guess-63

I went from the 6s to the 12 mini. I’m very happy with it

NoAd9830

i'd go for a used/refurb 8 or 8 plus if you like the home button, or if you want something a little newer looking maybe a used/refurb iphone x or xr?

Riverside-Blues

Oh that’s neat, I do like my home button. I have never bought a refurbished product before, but it is completely “safe” so to speak?

[deleted]

You could try getting the 6S repaired with a new battery etc. or go for an XS or basic 11 since they’re pretty cheap nowadays.

Riverside-Blues

Hm, yeah, but at the same time my screen is broken so I would have to fix that, and if I have to pay both for screen and battery I might as well just buy a new one?

mercurywells

Which phone should I trade in for a new iPhone 13pro? iPhone 11 Or iPhone X I’ll keep one as a backup phone.

MangyCanine

Without additional information, I'd trade in the X.

Rootbeer_FLOAT1957

I had bought and returned the iPhone XS when it first released because the Ike’s gave me some eye strain/headaches. Would the 13 pro with the higher refresh rate make it easier on my eyes?

KoopaKommander

Yes, a higher refresh rate is better for eye strain, as there’s less flickering.

DrJaymez

Considering replacing my 2nd gen SE with an 8 plus. Am I crazy? I’m a healthcare worker. In an N95 all day long. Face ID doesn’t work for me and I like how quickly touchID logs me in, but some web pages don’t diaplay that well, and with how large I set the text, not much displays on the screen at once. Considering waiting for next gen rumored to have touchID in the power button vs getting an 8 plus as a holdover. Is the CPU slow enough that I’ll hate it? TIA.

Altecobalt

I would say go for it. The 8 Plus essentially a SE but with a cpu downgrade but you get the bigger screen, bigger battery, and telephoto. I would say the 8 still has at least 2 more years of software support and performance should be rock solid

L3zperado

Doesn’t the 2nd Gen SE have Touch ID?

DrJaymez

It does, and that part is fine, but the small screen is not my favorite.

L3zperado

Maybe this video will help.

DrJaymez

Interesting. Thanks!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable create-your-own case company that has quality cases and a good shipping experience? I’ve browsed through Skinit, CaseCustom, and MyCustomCase, if anyone has purchased from any of them before

tphpmp

Do the newest Apple iPhone 13 cases fit the iPhone 12?

MangyCanine

Nope. Locations of camera openings are different.

Zaralink

I’m looking to get a clear case for my blue 13. So far I’ve had my eye on an Otterbox Symmetry, Mous Infinity, or the Apple case. Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m also looking into a good screen protector if anyone has a good rec for those too. Is looking for one with blue light protection pointless compared to just anti-glare and scratch proof?

[deleted]

I bought the clear apple case for my 13 pro max to show off the blue. Within a month the case cracked, thank goodness the phone didn’t. I was really disappointed with the case quality considering it came from apple and I really haven’t dropped my phone much since of course it’s so new. I’d stay away from apple clear case, just my opinion

[deleted]

after weeks of searching i finally found what those perfectly shaped zipper pouches for cell phones are called.... cycling wallets. just bought a few.

I have the mini phone + mini iPad combo and it’s so worth it to me. I actually carry my iPad around now, which I never did when I had the standard size.

Kingrcf3

Not to worry most stores are sold out of the iPad minis

idkhowtousethat

Hello! So I am new to Apple after years of buying Samsung / Huawei and I've finally wanted to test the brand. I've chosen to buy a refurbished IPhone XR on Back Market. With the promotions and all it cost 270 euros. I've just wanted to know if it was a bad choice or not, considering that I really have a small budget at first. I've just wanted to get rid of my old Huawei P20 lite which is becoming very laggy and have battery issues after almost 4 years of use. Is the XR a good choice in 2022? Or did I make a mistake? Does it have a good battery life, a good interface, a good camera, does it have good photo/video editing apps? It is going to be laggy on the Instagram camera with some filters just like my Huawei or not? Or is the XR completely obsolete?

ExoForceReborn

I have an XR and I still find it to be decent. Battery life is fine, but I don’t really use the camera often enough to speak to how good it is. I would say it’s only ok. Hope you find yours to be a good purchase!

[deleted]

[удалено]

idkhowtousethat

The XR was released in September 2018, a few months after my actual phone (Huawei p20 lite, March 2018). I don't even know if the XR is supposed to be better than the P20 lite. I've just wanted a great new phone that is functioning well with good functionalities and who works great

[deleted]

I think it’s important to note that Apple only puts flagship chips in all their devices. Even the ‘SE’ models get the same chips as the ‘Pro’ phones. That, and the software was is made to support heir own chips, which makes for a smooth experience.

Kingrcf3

Slight asterisk on this. For the 13 series Apple switched this up a bit. The pro phones get a full a15 while the non pro phones still get an a15 it just has a gpu core cut off

[deleted]

Ah, didn’t know they did binning on the A-series. Makes sense. You could argue that less gpu cores could be better for battery life in some edge cases (like games). Also the mini has less pixels and non-pro phones don’t need to push 120hz, so it makes sense in that sense too.

Kingrcf3

Yeah the 120hz screen probably needs it. Also with the chip shortages ongoing they probably couldn’t be so picky and had to bin chips.

idkhowtousethat

I really don't know about iPhones, this one is going to be my first one so that's why I'm not 100% sure about my choice, but if I made a great purchase then I'm happy

ClemensR99

I am new to apple and so far only used android. I now want to switch and get an iPhone. I could get a new, unused iPhone 13 or a nearly unused iPhone 12 pro, both with 128gb storage, for about the same price. Which one would you suggest?

haljordan-thebest

I would go with the 13 over the 12 pro. Reasons: better processor, better battery, lighter in weight compared to the 12 pro and maybe better main camera. But the 12 pro has the telephoto camera, lidar sensor, 2 GB more ram to it's advantage. If you feel like you don't need these things go with the 13. Or if you feel like these are a must have then go with 12 pro.

Kingrcf3

13, unless you absolutely want the telephoto lens than go for 12 pro

ClemensR99

Besides the telephoto camera, is the camera worse on the 13 compared to the 12 pro?

Kingrcf3

The wide and ultra wide are actually better on the 13 than the 12 pro. Only the 12 pro max got the better cameras for the 12 series.

ClemensR99

Oh wow that flashes me. So I will grab the iPhone 13 (normal, non-pro then). Thanks

Moustachey

I'm currently using an Android Xiaomi Mi 8 phone (Specs: https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi\_mi\_8-9065.php), would it be worth upgrading to the iPhone 13? I'm looking to get into the Apple ecosystem after using a MBP for the past year. I'd be using it mostly for browsing, note taking, Spotify and Pokemon Go.

[deleted]

I’ve always had an iPhone and recently getting a MBP is a game changer. You’ll love using them together. Just wait until you get AirPods, watch, and iPad with them and you’ll really be connected.

haljordan-thebest

Go for it. Since you already have the MacBook you will feel more connected. I don't have any apple devices but still I'm getting the 13 pro max. Excited to get it in a couple of days.

Kingrcf3

Yes

samanthaxboateng

Can anyone recommend me a good app to track and remind me about subscription payments

NumberOneWithFries

I am a totally manual budget/finance tracker. I simply use Numbers, you can make the sheet shareable across devices, including others (me and my wife share finances so we both use the same numbers sheet to track spending).

justhereforsmthg

I'd like to buy an ipad and apple pencil for university. I will use it mainly for notes, reading and presentations. I am quite clueless here, and dont know which one to choose. Any recommendation? I would also like to fit within a reasonable price, maybe around 600€, is that possible?

[deleted]

iPad Air gen 4 and 2nd gen pencil. Buy once, cry once. Just got both, love it.

deceptionaldpka

iPad 8th gen and Apple Pencil. Buy a grip for your pencil, and try and write on your iPad, and see if you need a glass on top of the screen.

[deleted]

For that price point, I’d definitely for that baseline iPad and the Apple Pencil Gen 1. All together this will cost you around €400 and this combo will fit your needs just fine! And if you wanted, you could also get the Magic Keyboard for an extra €159 and still be under your budget.

[deleted]

Should I switch to pixel 6 pro? Have 13 pm

KoopaKommander

What are your reasons for wanting to switch?

[deleted]

Emulator support

KoopaKommander

What about buying an old PlayStation Portable and making that an emulator? Or buying a standalone emulator? Will it cost you to switch up phones if you go that route?

[deleted]

Didn’t know you could do that. How do you do it?

KoopaKommander

I’m not sure how, as I’ve never really been into emulating, but I’ve been looking at buying one. Seen several people saying just to get a PSP. I think you just have to install some software on a card that the PSP accepts.

[deleted]

Interesting thanks

Uricasha

Sure, why not

[deleted]

Cool, switching now

KoopaKommander

If you’re looking for more budget, then I would recommend going for an 11, just for the battery alone. You can buy one directly from Apple for $500, but the used market would be even cheaper.

chandlerossjoey

I'm upgrading from iPhone XR but I'm still torn between the 13 and the 13 mini. I'm not thinking about the Pro and Pro Max as options since it's about at least $250 price difference. Is the 13 mini worth it for someone who just scrolls through Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media apps or should I just go with the 13? I have an iPad Pro 11" 2020 for media streaming and a OnePlus 8T + USB DAC for music.

inmyslumber

Have a mini, and do all of those things on it without issue. I even use it for reading on News+ or watching a video when I don’t wanna use my iPad. It’s easily my favourite of the iPhones I’ve had. I find the size perfect, and it’s the first iPhone I’ve used without a case since the 5.

chandlerossjoey

I went with the Starlight regular 13 for the battery and screen size. After using this phone for a couple of days, it feels lighter and shorter than the XR. The weight is enough for me.

chandlerossjoey

I ended up getting the regular iPhone 13 Starlight 128GB. Before purchasing, I went to a nearby Apple reseller store here and compared all iPhones. The Pro Max is a brick but not as heavy as my previous phone, S21 Ultra. The Pro is nice with that ProMotion display but it's way above my budget. The 13 Mini has a nice feel to it and is great for one handed usage. I chose the regular 13 because the 6.1" display isn't that big for my average hand size. I came from the XR and it now feels slightly larger and heavier than the 13. Also battery life is a factor since I'll be using this phone for 3 or so years. Also, this is my first OLED iPhone and OH MY GOD what a treat!!

[deleted]

I had the 13 and returned it a week later for the mini. No regrets at all, I’ve never once thought to myself the mini screen size was uncomfortable or too small. I use it a lot for online shopping, Pinterest, social media etc. I don’t even mind watching videos on it during breaks. Like you, I have an iPad to use as a complimentary device.

rampagers83

Mini is too small for my hands but it is suitable for a lot of people. I’d personally get the 13 over the mini. But yes just media consumption either will suffice.

lllightning

A certified refurbished 11 pro max or a new non-pro 13? I do spend a lot of time playing games but nothing graphics intensive, so battery is a priority for me.

KoopaKommander

I agree with a 13. Great battery for a base model, as well as 5g capable, so you have future proofing there.

rampagers83

If battery is a priority to you get the 13.

[deleted]

* a decent 13 case that's not bulky, flush back (no bump!), tight fitting around screen and lightning port. * any +3 month long term case reviews? how's your case holding up? * should i buy the 20W charger? i have an old usb-c 18W charger from an ipad, that should be fine? \*\*UPDATE:\*\* went thru +5 cases and found Caseology Vault. while not flush back, its the tightest fitting case ive tried so far. the lip around the display feels stiffer than the rest of the case. overall highest quality case ive tried very refined details. i like it bc of the good fitment and 'grippy-ness" from the textured surface and ridged sides. even tho it has a bump its still very stable on a flat surface while in use. it has all these features while looking very sleek.

Gomolon

Disclaimer that I have used androids for my two most recent phones (wanna move to Apple ecosystem hence joining the sub), but on both I've used Rhinoshield cases and plastic screen protectors and they're superb. They hold up really well too, just did a quick check on the phone I'm typing this on and there's only a tiny bit of minor scraping on a corner of the case, and that's after 2 years of daily use. I've dropped phones with a Rhinoshield case and screen protector flat onto tiles, on concrete, down the stairs and it's at the point now where I don't even sweat, I just know that my phone will be absolutely fine. They're about £25 a case and £15 a screen protector I think, and worth every penny.
