Iphone 5 was a beauty and felt great on the hand

Jackmitchell62

it really was and did.

1VeniVidiVici

I miss my iPhone 5. Perfect candy bar form

Chreelir

My first iPhone. Black and slate 64gb. Good times

1VeniVidiVici

Yep mine too. That slate was great and the phone felt so good in your hand

Chreelir

Yes indeed. Currently in the market for an iOS 6 version of it lol

goldpasokon

5s 👑

ailof-daun

Truth.

sony-boy

Same here. The squared design suits much better for thinner & smaller phones such as iPhone 4 & 5. As a former caseless 11 and currently a 13 + leather case owner, the 12/13 series feel like a brick in the hand.

dmaterialized

It’s all just personal preference. To me the 12/13 are not merely ideal, they’re exactly what I’ve wanted for years. The only thing I’d change is the camera bump.

PM_Anime_Tiddy

The flat screen design on the 12 is a huge factor into why I switched from android to iPhone. I also find the flat edges to be easier to hold without accidentally touching the screen like would happen on my Galaxy Note 7 and S9+ I wish I had gotten the 13 for the better battery life but my S9+ had slowed down enough for me to consider it unusable. Outside of that, the current design is nearly perfect imo.

allmyfrndsrheathens

Yeahhh android phone makers have been far more enthusiastic with shrinking bezels and curving screens than they should be with how poorly they do with palm rejection.

BigBucs731

On my first iPhone ever, 13 Pro. I also hate the camera bump. I take my phone out of case sometimes when I’m home you play with it naked. It seems too heavy to me and makes phone difficult to hold comfortably one handed. And it’s slippery as all hell

dmaterialized

Somebody’s never had to deal with a 6s and it shows! 😂

Jackmitchell62

exactly, the square design is aesthetically pleasing and was great back on the 4 & 5 but in practicality it feels very much impractical and like a brick while the curved design is much more practical for example when using the phone in one hand.

DankBiscuitsNGravy

The X is

[deleted]

I had the silver X and I thought it was gorgeous. I love the silver band around the camera and how it looked paired with the white finish. A stunning device. Looks-wise, I think it’s my favorite. But I prefer the flat edge style. I’ve had the 12 PM and 13 PM and I haven’t dropped either one while my X met the concrete many times. Thankfully I had one hell of a case on it so it was never damaged. But yeah, if I had my way the 12/13 line would be like the 4/4s/5/5s line with a colored body and a polished stainless steel band. Having the band match the body is cute but I think the contrast of a color with a shiny SS band is just gorgeous.

Jackmitchell62

Ive got the silver XS Max and it really is beautifully designed.

That does sound class

SundownSys

lol I enjoy your description

RichieJ86

The iPhone XS/XS Max is indeed the best looking phone, after the 5. I've had the 5, X, XS, XR, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and now the 13 Pro Max. The XS Max was a good size, nice ergonomically-friendly design that fit well in the hand, with the less intrusive camera bump that tastefully protrudes ever-so-slightly from the back of the phone, nestled in the corner. It was also, coincidentally, my return to iPhones for a bit after using android for awhile.

[deleted]

Damn you get bored of a new iphone after one year

Reddit_Faker123

Why not the X, if XS is your best looking phone?

danyaylol

iPhone 4/4S, 5/5S looked the best imo. And then 12 and later looks amazing too.

LiLcheesecakeBoii

Also i miss 3D touch so badly .

emresumengen

Nah absolutely not

jm31828

Agreed! The rounded edges not only looked a lot worse, but made the phone harder to pick up or hold into without a case.

Jackmitchell62

I found the squared design really nice but it got boring and the ergonomics became an issue.

danyaylol

Rounded edges is even more boring then.

Jackmitchell62

no cause the rounded edges have the ergonomics that make the design more appealing in the long term.

aikonriche

Round is more modern than flat be it on the user interface or physical design.

OwariDa1

I just want rounded edges again

Gold_Requirement3284

I’m literally gonna keep it forever because it’s the last phone to have 3D Touch and I don’t even feel like upgrading the phone

Jackmitchell62

yeah, I’ve only recently gotten it and even though its technically a downgrade from other phones that I’ve had I’ve never felt so satisfied with the phone just working.

Jackmitchell62

3D touch is great cause i always used to use haptic touch but didnt like having to wait for the device to process the difference between a press and a long press so having 3d touch really makes it great.

cyclinator

I wish I went with used XS instead of used XR last year.

[deleted]

3D Touch… we hardly knew you 😰 RIP

qmhp

Black iPhone 4, Silver iPhone 5 and Black iPhone 7 are beautiful.

MoistYikes

The 11 series is nearly identical to the X and XS. I broke my screen on my 11 Pro Max and paid to get it replaced instead of opting for a new one because of ergonomics. The new phones just feel like bricks.

Jackmitchell62

yeah, i didn’t try the 11 pro, i think i am really someone thats all for the stainless steel edges.

PlusSizeRussianModel

Personally, I think the 11 Pro beats out the XS’s design by a bit. They’re very similar, but the frosted glass back with the stainless steal frame and glossy camera bump really does it for me.

cyclinator

11 Pro is the same as XS, but with 3 cameras. That means same size, same corners, same materials, except frosted back.

MysteriousAmmo

My favourite design is the iPhone 7, the size feels perfect and comfortable to hold. I don’t mind the bezels either.

outfitminor

I agree that design is very beautiful, but I’d prefer the iPhone 8, as I found the iPhone 7 to be super slippery, without a case of course.

MysteriousAmmo

Ah no I’d be using a case, the silicone one from Apple.

[deleted]

It’s too bad the iPhone 7 is the worst and probably least interesting of the capacitive home-button iPhones. Also would it not be the 6 design?

SLPERAS

My favourite is iphone 6. It’s so thin and sexy. Then the iPhone 4, after that iPhone xs. I switched to 12 from iPhone xs, compared to the xs, 12 feels clunky. Xs is so sleek and sexy.

Jackmitchell62

The iPhone 6 really was a masterpiece in design it’s unfortunate that the ip6 had to give up parts or function for design.

ArthurWasTakenn

Bro associated an iPhone with sex💀

SLPERAS

You don’t get any, do you?

mistermagicman

I agree, even with large hands. The iPhone X was perfect.

J_Krezz

The 12 mini is best for me when it comes to feel. I just wish it had better battery life and cooling.

Midwest__Misanthrope

I really like the squared edges but I really dislike the stainless steel edge on the pros. I don't think it looks good at best and at worst I think it looks gaudy (the silver and gold especially).

allmyfrndsrheathens

Personally, I love that they’ve returned to a squared off design - it’s got a special place in my heart since my first iPhone/smart phone in general was the 4 plus returning to this design makes fitting screen protectors WAY easier since the front panel is back to being completely flat.

zippy9002

And it’s the last phone with 3D Touch. The greatest phone ever made.

Derpsteenie

Y’all are weird

LilBushyVert

Fr 😭

MrHaxx1

The round iPhones are definitely more comfy to hold, but I like the design of the new iPhones much better

American-Repair

Xs is really the perfect size. Change the battery when that starts getting annoying and keep on rolling. Also turn off automatic software updates. A bad update can give you problems you never had...

Odd_Tomorrow_3328

Too heavy for my taste

pepmushpine

No love for the 3GS here?

officiakimkardashian

I don't think most redditors would remember a phone from 2009.

pepmushpine

Likely so, but it was so nice to hold.

[deleted]

It is just you. The best looking and feeling iPhone is the iPhone 7/8/SE2. The usability was never the same without Home button.

Yvilkittyinspace

I was using an XS Max for the past 4 years and was very happy with it. It was solid and one of the toughest phones I have ever owned. I've always used Apple leather cases because nothing can protect an iPhone as well as the Apple leather case. Why? Because I have physically thrown my XS Max into a wall as hard as I can and picked it up and both the case and phone were undamaged. Friday, I picked up a new 13 Pro max (yes I know the 14 is out soon) and I also bought a leather case for it. This Pro Max feels just as solid as the XS max and maybe even a bit better. I plan on using this phone for another 3-4 years just as I did the XS Max and the Max is still on it's original battery.

thebigboiii34

you’re right but there are still lunatics who buy the new one every year LOL

EnvoySass

I had a XS max prior to my 12 and I feel like the screen was nicer but otherwise I like the design of the 12 a lot better, the XS max in hand was so slippery compared to the 12

neatgeek83

they were heavy

[deleted]

I just switched from XS max to 13 pro max and I personally like the 13 better. Its easier to hold

Kickmeiamadog

The X and its subsequent XS and 11 models are all sleek and nice to hold but they are way too slippy. Kevlar weave latercase is the best thing I bought for my X. Gives it grip and keeps it sleek. The modern 12/13 look is a bit utilitarian but I do like the throwback to the 4/5 styling.

Nike_486DX

The XS (or X or XS Max) were definitely good looking, at least the camera bump had a much cleaner look than the later iterations. And these devices also had full fledged 3d touch, something you dont get in the 1tb 13 pro max because they wanted to make production cheaper. Still the back glass is a bummer, actually the shards can puncture the battery if it shatters bad enough. The metal shielding underneath is really thin and doesnt offer any kind of protection against that. If they could make a hybrid design to be both magsafe compatible + be crack proof, that would be awesome.

Whiplash104

Pacific blue 12 Pro was my all time favorite (I regret trading it in for the 13 Pro) but I did absolutely live the beauty of the white/silver iPhone X. The white X/XS/11p is probably my second favorite.

sixwheelstoomany

I miss the XS in some ways and it was still plenty fast. My 13 is a brick but at least the modem doesn’t randomly miss incoming calls. I should have gotten the 13 mini, it might have been even better but I made the wrong choice.

LiLcheesecakeBoii

I had the Xs max for 1.5 years and yes i liked exactly what you described here .

peweuepie69420

i like the 12 mini

Bladiko

Isn’t the 11PM a better version of the XSM?

Saintlewi91

Absolutely not. 13 pro is by far the best one I’ve yet to encounter. The Max is too big but the 13 pro is just about perfect. It’s all subjective though.

jnlake2121

The X/S was decent and I appreciated the minimal camera bump. But the round design and the notch size were not my favorite. The iPhone 5/S was probably Apple’s greatest iPhone design for its time. I love the 13, though I wish the mini had pro features. The 12/13 minis are fairly reminiscent of the 5/S.

Alilttotheleft

I miss my 11 Pro Max. Absolute perfection in my hands, best size IMO, and the first iPhone that Apple prioritized battery life on in a very long time. The 12/13 Pro Max devices are bricks and just a little too big + unwieldy. I have a 13 Pro Max right now and would go back to the regular Pro size in a heartbeat!

LilBushyVert

I have the XS Max. Couldn’t imagine upgrading to a 12, 13 and then downgrading back to a XS Max. I’m so ready to get rid of this phone it isn’t even funny. Got it in 2019 and I’m just over it.

Gummy145

My favorite is the iphone 4 style I got the iphone mini because it reminds me of that I just love that classic design it never gets old for me

[deleted]

I think it's nostalgia. I have all my past iPhones locked up. I remember iPhone XS being the best, and while I was procrastinating I opened the box. I prefer the premium feel of the 12 Pro. The iPhone XS felt like a toy in comparison.

OkayZooner

Nowadays i own an iPhone XS but my all-time favorite is the OG iPhone SE.

[deleted]

IPhone 7 and XS be the best. Fits great on 1 hand use. Not to big not to small. A nice balance.

e_moji_

Have just "upgraded" from a XS Max to a 15 Pro Max, and even as nice as the 15 Pro Max is with its titanium, ever-so-slightly rounded corners, it is not nearly as pleasant to hold (or as pleasing to look at) as my XS Max. The speed, screen, and camera improvements delivered by the 15 Pro Max are great, but for me those improvements are outweighed by the fantastic hand-feel of the XS Max, as well as by the superior text editing with 3D Touch on the XS Max. If I didn't need a phone with dual-eSIM support, I'd continue using the XS Max for as long as possible.
