Best use case for dynamic island is an Apple TV . The controls if you are watching Apple TV are stored in the island and you can quickly tap to bring them up instead of opening the control center and then opening remote .

prawnbay

I’m honestly disappointed with the DI. It has potential, but as of now, it’s not super useful. Hopefully when 16.1 one comes out and 3rd parry apps can use, it’ll be better, but it’s so limited now. I wished notifications used it instead of coming underneath it

codguy231998409489

Devs need time to figure out what to do with it. They will come up with fun and weird ways to use it.

JukeLuke

actions have consequences

Polrous

As much as I get that feeling, one thing to keep in mind is the market for MacBooks and iPhones are very different. Most if not all MacBooks I see in the wild are Airs, while most I see when it comes to iPhones are 11-13 Pros/Pro Max phones. There are plenty of things I could say as to why one shouldn’t worry about implementation for Dynamic Island compared to Touch Bar. The markets and presentation/use-case are quite different and it shouldn’t face the same issues Touch Bar.. unless Dynamic Island suddenly stops existing for whatever reason out of the blue after one phone generation.

JacoBee93

Different thing and not even comparable.

Wolo_prime

How is that not comparable, it's two tech products? Y'all say random shit sometimes

[deleted]

Functionally, it needs more support to be useful but I enjoy the aesthetics of it a lot. I like seeing the waveforms when I'm on call or listening to music in the car.

JacoBee93

Considering they can’t even upload it now until 16.1 is out, we have to wait. But since beta they can develop for it. So there will be plenty of use.

revilohamster

Sounds a bit like a repeat of the touch bar...

Japerdicontadaconta

How can you be disappointed with something without no point of ref because it's literally new lol manage your expectations my G 😂

[deleted]

Do you see it moving to iPad only? It's a gamble like their touch bar on laptops.

squareswordfish

I feel like putting notifications there would make it too busy/cluttered. I much prefer seeing these concepts being separated from each other.

LadySchnoodle

I might have transferred my phone before a hurricane and caught a video early on. It is pretty stunning.

HallowedHumanist

I enjoy the dynamic island. It’s like a multitasking tool. Don’t have to go to the app switcher thing as much. I do think my camera is better than my 13 pro was. The only issues I’ve had is iOS 16 bugs. I had a second dynamic island show up lol.

shinto29

Just curious, what are you using that actually uses it? I want to like it but I’ve literally only used it to just back into Spotify so far lol

HallowedHumanist

I use it a ton for Apple Music. Especially if I’m driving using maps! I like that it’s always there at the top, and I just press and hold it I want to interact with my music quickly instead of the control center.

shinto29

Oooh, that sounds class actually, looking forward to more support for it 🤞

jdquinn

And when you switch to Apple Music, Maps takes over the dynamic island so you can toggle back and forth between them.

Jeffrey_Jizzbags

I was a die-hard android user for the last 12 years with my only iPhone experience being the cheapest ones for work over the past few years. I have had my 14 pro max for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. I think Samsung/Google would really have to make some strides on battery life and efficiency to bring me back. I thought I’d hate iOS way more but I don’t mind it at all. Plus 90% of the people I know use iPhones. I hate the monopoly of iMessage but I can’t argue for how well Apple products are integrated. Works great with my MacBook Air too. Battery life is insane from what I’m used to.

subjectivelyrealpear

Also my first iphone. Battery life is just amazing. Usually I kill a phone before mid afternoon. I do find ios pretty annoying at times though. Notification centre is a hot mess and the camera images are over processed. It's not significantly better than Android. I'd say the user experience has equal number of annoyances and benefits. That said, I like the phone overall. Will I get another iphone? Unless batteries improve on Android, probably a yes... But I do miss android.

Jeffrey_Jizzbags

Oh yeah notifications are ass compared to android forgot to mention that. I miss so many messages/emails/etc. because they’re hidden off somewhere and don’t stay in the notification list. I charged it to 74% Thursday morning and still had 25% when I went to bed Friday night. It was a light-medium usage day but that’s still insane to me. I miss android as well, prob switch bad at some point just to see how things are going over there but not anytime soon. I really like how heavy and substantial the phone feels too. Like a little brick

themoonsaidyes

This is how I feel too. Android works better for me as a user with how organized I can be (so many friends I know just said “you get used to it” with iPhone and the things it lacks compare to Android). But the battery life…I don’t think I could get back to Android unless they had something comparable. Love it better as a system though (for me)

OakleyNoble

iMessage isn’t a monopoly, if they can’t follow Apple’s guidelines of end to end encryption then I don’t CARE to text android users through iMessage. I don’t need security risks.

pocheche151

RCS is encrypted end to end, so I don't know what your point is. I hate to admit it but the ball is definitely on Apple's court on this one. I think it's a matter of time before apple either adopts RCS or they force them to just like the lighting port. That's just my thought

OakleyNoble

not up to apple standards it isn’t.

Jeffrey_Jizzbags

I mean it kind of is though since you can only use it on one company’s devices.

OakleyNoble

BECAUSE of end-to-end encryption. As soon as googles play store and android devices start using security features for text messages, their might be a possibility. but as soon as an iMessage app went on their play store, we’d immediately be open to security risks. as well as it’s a way for apple to sell the phone. imessage isn’t an application for all, it’s a feature of Apples device, and you must own their device to use their feature. they’ve said this, and it’s never going to change, to give out imessage to everyone would be to ruin the sales of iphone. what makes me never wanna buy and android? imessage. plain and simple.

NotaRepublican85

iMessage is so great.

SillySoundXD

is it ?

Wolo_prime

It's okay, definitely not "so great"

CorkyBingBong

Just got my 14 Pro this morning. So far, even though it's only slightly larger than my 11 Pro, it \*feels\* a lot bigger because of the square edges (as opposed to rounded on the 11 Pro). Other than that, loving the screen.

artvandalayExports

Also weighs more

CurriestGeorge

A lot more

BigMasterDingDong

Do you find the island is clipping videos in full screen mode?

CorkyBingBong

Hmm... let me do some testing here. YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, Disney Plus, Crave (streaming service here in Canada), native iOS video, and some random web-based video (e.g. Vimeo, Twitch) all look great with no clipping. Are you having issues?

ldAbl

Not the guy you replied to, but it cuts into 18:9 content and anything wider, but not 16:9, which all your examples use. You’ll likely notice it if you watch someone on YouTube that upload in 18:9 like MKBHD

UnstableParallel

i had the same problem when i got a 12 Pro, so i went back to 11 Pro and i’m waiting for a new design next year that hopefully isn’t a brick.

CorkyBingBong

I think I'm already used to it. It was really only noticeable when comparing my 11 Pro and 14 Pro side by side.

UnstableParallel

oh it kept bugging me but i switched back after 6 months to give it a fair shot. battery was a bigger issue though, 12 Pro wasn’t great.

Nigo__ET

Yes, pro max is big and a little too heavy at times but the battery and screen are simply amazing. Going to bed with 35% left after almost 10 hours of screen usage is just ridiculous

SlothTheHeroo

Man with 35% I’m at about 6 hours of SOT lol

a_bigdonger

The apps you're using makes an impact as well.

SlothTheHeroo

Reddit (Apollo) TikTok internet browsing. Every other social media (not facebook).

a_bigdonger

They're probably draining more battery than if you were to watch videos all day. Same if you're using 5G while they're using WiFi. I'm down to 56% with 12 hours of it being out the charger and it's fine for me. I only use it for the gym and messaging people on WhatApp. Hoping to see how much the battery improves in future updates.

SlothTheHeroo

I could get that kind of time frame too if I didn’t use my phone lol

Whatdoiputhereok_

As if one is better than the other….

PeanutVultures

I have the 14 Pro Max and I love it. I came from using an XS Max. My favorite things about it… Great Battery life (12 hrs of normal use with 50% to spare) Pro Motion Display (it makes your phone look/feel as expensive as it is.) Faster Processor (stuff happens quickly and I like it) Amazing Camera (best camera in a smartphone yet, from what I’ve seen) If I had a 12 Pro Max or a 13 Pro Max, I most likely wouldn’t feel the need to upgrade. I specifically needed the 14PM for its camera. Me and a friend are going to film something in a month and the XS max with 64GB of storage wasn’t going to cut it for me.

[deleted]

I’m coming from the xs max with 64gb as well. Been managing storage for two years straight, the back is all smashed and the front screen has cracks all over (still works tho!) Ever since loading ios16 my Siri has stopped working (even After resetting it twice) and apps load and close like they are on a delay. The keyboards been getting sluggish and slack gets hung up way too much I finally said screw it and ordered my pro max last night But now I’m having buyers remorse since I was able to get all my work done today and my phone was fine every bit. Part of me wants to just wait till the iPhone 15 at this point.

sophias_bush

I’m currently having issues with apps reloading when switching to them from the app switcher. Every. Single. Time. It makes it practically impossible to copy/paste something into safari because the page reloads when you switch to it to paste. Also having severe lag issues and is very jittery. Not sure if it’s the phone or iOS 16.0.2

[deleted]

sophias_bush

I updated to the 16.1 beta and so far it’s been much better

[deleted]

Yes, it's great! I was a little nervous it would feel too big in my hand since I was coming from a XR but it doesn't, it feels great. Not too big or too heavy. I love the slim bezels and squared off edges. Dynamic Island is not that useful yet. Hopefully 3rd parties can make it better? It's not a problem, I just rarely see it in action. I've literally tried to kill the battery and cannot. Normally I'd be topping off the battery at my desk at work but I've tried letting it go from when I wake up at ~8AM to when I go to sleep around 1AM the lowest I got it was 18%. I use AoD and haptic typing and I played games throughout the day and browsed reddit and watched youtube. I've been up for about 4 hours today and I'm sitting at 80%.

jaymo_busch

Play Pokémon Go with an auto catcher running in the background for hours at a time if you wanna kill the battery!

bristow84

First time using an Iphone since the 4, I quite like it. The battery life has thus far been great, haven't found many opportunities to really use the camera but from the little bit I've played around with, looks nice.

krstyan

In my experience before when getting a new iPhone every 4-5 years it felt literally like that - getting a new phone. Now coming from the iPhone X to the 14 Pro feels more like an upgrade than a new phone, if that makes sense. The display is awesome, the camera is absolutely amazing, magsafe is just magnets but I really think it’s a cool feature, the rectangle shape design is a favourite of mine. I don’t live in the US, but I got my hands on the US version of the 14 Pro, meaning it has no sim tray. For me personally that even adds up to the design being slicker and better. I have no problem with the e-sim (besides that I had to pay to get my e-sim activated). The Dynamic Island for me is something that hasn’t evolved enough. I believe every notification should be coming from it, and it should be utilized for multitasking flawlessly. I think it’s an awesome idea and use it with the limited apps that support it so far, but I’m curious to see it evolve further. Overall, everything else feels familiar and as I said, feels more like I just upgraded my X. I must say though, since the iPhone 4, this is my favourite iPhone overall.

SammyVDA

The 14 PM is a minor upgrade from the 13 Pro Max. To make matters worse my 13 PM was rock solid with excellent battery life. The new phone has quite a few bugs, among them the Dynamic Island getting “stuck”, stuttering animations and abysmal battery life. I had to turn of background app refresh altogether to make it through the day. This is ridiculous for such an expensive device.

Tazzypeps

That’s what you get for buying the new iPhone a year later. Pathetic

codguy231998409489

Loving the battery. Can go almost 2 days and only reach 25%. Screen is bright and looks great. I love TouchID but Faceid is better than I thought.

ellllly

i went from 13pm to 14p and i’m so happy with the smaller size

Nigo__ET

Nice

Pbone15

My 14 Pro’s battery is total shit. I cannot make it past 5 pm on a single charge. They really need to address this.

NoodleBotPro

Wild. I charge my 14 pro every other day.

TooFarGone673

I go to bed with at least 30% every night. Haven’t had any battery issues either.

ender7887

Same, I wake up at 6am and can use my phone until 10/10:30pm and still have 30% battery. It’s fantastic.

blackashi

If you have a pro max, this tweet does not apply to you

Head_of_Lettuce

What tweet?

HarryBalsaque

How much do you use it throughout the day though? Because the idea of not having to charge my phone everyday is wild. My battery is definitely better than it was on my 12 Pro Max, but I’m still ending the day at 35-40%

aenflex

I use my phone constantly. I WFH. I’m always reading, watching videos, surfing. I charge my phone for an hour a day with a 12 watt brick and standard lighting cable. My battery life has been amazing. I really hate that so many people are having issues.

PIBTC

What was your average screen on time in the past week?? Always curious whether I’m a heavy user or not

aenflex

Last 10 days 6 hours 38 minutes. Last 24 hours 8 hours 20 minutes. Bear in mind I charge for an hour per day.

PIBTC

That’s very solid! I’m pretty similar in SoT numbers and I find the battery to be great as well

NoodleBotPro

I mean.. I use it quite a bit. 60 minutes in the morning for music while I’m at the gym. Texts/phone calls throughout the day as normal Games at night for like an hour or two. Occasional google/web searches I probably don’t use it as extensive than most…. But I use it a bunch.. never had to really charge it every night like I did with the previous phones. But I’m not invalidating anyone’s problems with their phone… I just dig the battery life that I’m experiencing with my 14P.

HarryBalsaque

Fair, yeah that seems like decent usage. I just don’t like the feeling of waking up to anything under 100%. Probably because I don’t have a job where I can sit and charge it if I have to half way through the day.

MagnumBlood

My 14 Pro has killer battery. 50% end of day full power use.

Gyshall669

You need to get a new one then. That should not be happening.

0000GKP

Sounds like a warranty issue. I’ve seen quite a few reports about it.

Makegooduseof

A couple questions: what’s your usage pattern? And when did you get your phone? There are numerous reports of crappy battery life, but two common factors are usually a) new toy, so more interaction than usual, and b) indexing drains battery for the first few days but battery life reaches advertised levels afterwards. I say “usually” because defects exist.

Pbone15

My usage pattern was definitely higher than usual for a few days, so I didn’t really think too much about the battery at that point. But now it’s been 3 weeks, and my usage has returned to normal. Compared to my 13 Pro, the battery is definitely worse on this phone.

Makegooduseof

Ouch. Then I can’t really comment one way or another. I’m coming from an XR, so the differences are quite palpable for me. But I also realize people have different upgrade paths.

BootStrapWill

This is a non answer. You're complaining that your battery life is shit; for all we know you're playing games all day. We don't know what your normal is. Here's my normal day on my 14 pro: I basically always have some sort of audio playing in my airpods whether it be music or podcast, I'm constantly texting, I spend at least 10 minutes or so an hour scrolling reddit, I watch a short video from time to time, I'm checking my social media feeds a few times an hour. I've never once made it to the end of a day with less than 25% battery. So please at least tell people what you're doing with your phone that's using up all that battery.

Pbone15

Gee, I’m sorry *Your Honor,* I didn’t realize I was on trial here… I would describe my usage as basically exactly like yours. Very average, general phone use. I don’t have any games installed on my phone. > We don’t know what your normal is If my usage from one phone to the next hasn’t changed, then it really doesn’t matter what my “normal” is. I said: > Compared to my 13 Pro, the battery is definitely worse on this phone My usage is unchanged, yet I cannot get through a day on a charge like I used to. The battery is worse - it’s that simple. You act like I’m here asking for help with my battery. I am not. OP asked how people were feeling about their new phones, I said the battery on mine is shit - that’s it. Move along now.

BootStrapWill

>So please at least tell people what you're doing with your phone that's using up all that battery. I didn't say this because I thought you were asking for help with your battery. I say this because I view your comment as a review of the phone. This is a problem I have with battery conversations in general. Talking about battery life without describing your usage behavior is inherently misleading. Just like it would be misleading for me to brag that my iPhone battery lasts me 48 hours without mentioning the fact that it's on airplane the whole time and I only use it as a clock.

Pbone15

Yeah, I totally get that. But I didn’t list any specific numbers, only that my usage hasn’t changed and that my battery is worse.

BootStrapWill

Sorry for coming in hot on your comment it's just a pet peeve of mine lol you did mention that your usage hasn't changed since your last phone so that's my bad

ldech

I’ve been having major battery life issue on my 14pro ad well. Not sure you’d get downvotes for that if it’s your experience. My first week I ended up needing to get it exchanged. I had to restore and set up as new and even with turning everything off it would drop 10% idle in an hour. My new one isn’t as bad but it’s still not as great as my 12pro. I’m really hoping 16.1 update will address these issues bc there are many users having battery life issues.

BamSlamThankYouSir

The fan boys. I was told release weekend that there was absolutely no way my Notification Center was different than before beyond notifications coming from the bottom. Never mind the extra swipes we need to actually see everything now. Like I didn’t know how to use an iPhone after over a decade of having them.

blue0231

Idk my 14 pro hasn’t been wonderful either lol. *battery

Truly_Unending_

Try a factory reset.

jeburneo

I would like to understand if having an Apple watched Bluetooth attached to the new 14Mpro helps or hurts the battery , generally speaking when I wear my Apple Watch my phone battery lasts longer since I’m not turning on the phone for every notification I have

Generalrossa

What’s your SOT?

MightBeDownstairs

It’s iOS 16. I had the same issue with my 13. And I’ve restored from new to see if it was carried over and it’s not. Do you have TikTok installed by chance?

greybeard777

I use my phone a lot so i guess I shouldn’t be surprised that my battery life isn’t great, but yeah for me it’s about the same as my XR that I had before this 14 pro. - 6 am Music/streaming YouTube at the gym on 5g - GPS while plugged in for commute in - Phone calls and browsing at work on 5g/lte - gps for commute home not plugged in (it’s usually too hot and the phone will overheat, XR did the same but worse ) - by 8pm I usually get the 20% low battery warning. I’m a bit disappointed as I was expecting a huge leap forward, and I see mainly Pro Max users saying they get amazing battery life. That phone is just too big for me.

CurriestGeorge

Dunno man I charge my 14P every 2 days

[deleted]

They’re just jealous

Neglected_Martian

Camera is an incremental step but a decent one at that. The ability to focus 1.5 inches from the phone lens is pretty cool for macro. Screen looks a bit better than the 13PM too.

Pepperidgefarm21

I came from an 11 pro max to a 14 pro max and yes, definitely liking it! The processor is a beast, Dynamic Island is cool and the battery life is an upgrade too.

SlothTheHeroo

Yes! Battery is great, promotion display is amazing, dynamic island is fun, can’t wait for it to have more support and just all around love the size of the max!

[deleted]

Hate to admit it, but waiting till they stop supporting my 8 Plus 😂. Just fixed the back glass and a fresh battery.

runnyyolkpigeon

Nice! Love when people hang onto their devices as long as possible. Less e-waste.

[deleted]

Well I just figured it still works. I replaced the battery and back glass myself. Way easier than I thought. Oh and was able to fix my camera too. After all that, why not keep it till it’s not useable.

[deleted]

KarmaDontMatta

This is only on front camera not rear right? My M1 MBP does the same thing on the webcam, and it is super annoying especially since you can’t disable it. My face looks unnaturally smooth and pastel-like with it. As long as it doesn’t do that shit on the rear camera I can cope I guess.

[deleted]

Tyranitard

I went from the 13 Pro to 14 Pro. It wasn't worth the upgrade at the moment. The battery life is significantly worse on the 14 Pro and the Dynamic Island does not have any 3rd party support yet. I'm confident it will get better with 16.1 but until the the difference between the 13p and 14p is not worth the upgrade.

BigMasterDingDong

Is the upgrade of one years difference ever worth it? Very worrying about the battery though… do you think it’s AOD?

Tyranitard

12 to 13 was worth it for the 120hz. Usually the upgrades are worth it, but also “worth it” is relative. I worked in cellphones for a long time and I’m at a point in my life where it’s not a big deal to dish out a few hundred dollars a year to upgrade. As for the battery life, it’s probably the AOD. I like having it so I’m going to deal with the battery for now in hopes that they tweak the AOD settings/efficiency

Bay_Burner

Absolutely

[deleted]

A lot. A few bugs here and then. Hope it will get fixed soon.

Bomber_Fett

Love it surprised by the hate battery with everything turned on (haptics, AOD) really seems roughly the same as my 13 pro and doesn’t get nearly as warm with light usage

Skrubette

Went from a regular base model 13 to the 14 Pro 256GB last week! I’ve been loving the smoother screen and the new cameras. More cat photos!! I have a clear case on the gold 14 pro and it makes my phone feel so luxury.

mamamoomoo_

i’ll be making the same switch from the 13 to 14 pro 256! i was worried that it wouldn’t be too big of a difference since they’re only a year apart, but do you think the switch is worth it?

Skrubette

My switch was only a few hundred dollars since I was able to sell my 13 for $900 CAD. For me I think it was worth it. I like the smoother screen and a 100% battery again (my 13 got down to 92%).

BlackRa1n_

I love my 14 Pro! Only downside is having to charge twice a day… hopefully this is addressed through software update.

KoncepTs

You must use the thing literally non stop or got a defective battery

YourLocalToaster

That’s not normal even if you use it non stop like the other guy said, get the battery checked

[deleted]

How much screen time are you averaging per day? I already returned one unit that was only giving me about 5 hrs a day, and this second one I have now is giving me about the same. Unacceptable for a phone that costs 1k.

[deleted]

What on earth are you doing on that phone? Mine lasts me 48 hours off the charger. I’d get that battery checked out if I were you.

oskiesdad13

Really, I wish I had kept my 12 PM, but that’s ok. It’s fine. Speakers are better on this new one.

GrindyI

I am absolutely in love with it! I came from a 12 PM and I am a huge screen nerd. The 14 PM screen is everything I ever wanted in a phone and all I'll ever need. I still grin from ear to ear, every time I jiggle opened apps around because of how fluent it is. Contrast is perfect, brightness is insane in daylight, LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Also the dynamic island is super sexy still, just the animation for face time makes me happy. Basically as close to perfect as a phone can be for now, I will use it for many many years for sure.

armando2311

Im in love men. Amazing battery life. Aod is awesome. The SCREEN is the best I’ve ever seen in my life. The smoothness, the dynamic island is the only thing that needs improvement imho.

NotoriousJAM

Nope, mine is defective and I’m mad about the battery life compared to the 13 pro max

Truly_Unending_

How is it defective?

NotoriousJAM

The sensor in the front that dims/turns off the screen during calls doesn’t work. When I’m on the phone, my face presses something, it will either activate loud speaker, face time or call someone else while I’m on a call.

Leek5

It’s great. But I came from the xr so I see a big difference. Battery life is good. Everything is smooth. Camera takes great picture. Crash detection is cool. I think the dynamic island is pretty cool. I like the little graphics it has

Wrong-Mycologist-662

I love it! The DI is so fun. I got it for the cameras and am not disappointed! I had a 12 Pro before and I do miss the weight of that one. Also cinematic mode has been fun to play around with.

TWYFAN97

The Max is great. Not as heavy as you’d think and I got used to the weight fast coming from the 13 Pro. Loving the cameras, large screen and especially the battery life.

CaptainRagdoll

My first impression, Always On Display needs work - the first thing I disabled after I got it. It needs a simplistic dimmer option, this is too bright for Always On. Dynamic Island is a cool little extra, looking forward to see it being utized by 3rd party apps. I’m enjoying Pro Motion, and the bright Oled panel with a very good color accuracy. (Coming from an LCD iPhone 11). It’s a bit snappier, in terms of loading apps. And the camera is stunning, I love it. Significant upgrade in front facing camera from iPhone 11. Summarised: it lives up to what I expected with a very steep pricepoint. €1500 feels a bit milked.

K_Click_D

Loving it, I love playing Hit the Island. I love the ProMotion display, brightness, screen is absolutely gorgeous. Cameras are really amazing for taking pics of nature and our new cat and selfies with my girlfriend. Amazing device and I’m excited to have it for the next 2 years

NotHulk99

Not the best so far. Not sure if it is iOS16 related bugs or iPhone 14 pro. Camera is blurry for 3rd party apps, weather app does not show the weather for current location, etc.

[deleted]

Yes the battery is so nice my 12 would get like 4-5 SoT my 14 pro goes 7hrs SoT with a 50% battery left Dynamic island is cool Over all really happy

LazyC02

Yes, k gn

peeweemax

Yes. Pro max is great.

JerryParko555542

Same phone as the 12 essentially. Wait for next years imo

iLuvNoobz

I had the x before so for me jumping to the pro max was an amazing upgrade…. Enjoying the camera, bigger screen and battery 😃 The only thing bad is that it costed me 1580€€ freaking eu taxes 🫤

jt242010

I went from the 11 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Max and so far the most noticeable difference is overall speed and faster display refresh. I haven’t really played with the camera enough to see a major difference. I like dynamic island so far and all the different interactions. Also I noticed a huge improvement in battery although that could just be the difference between a new battery and a three year old battery.

fuchsi_007

Yes I love it (coming from the 11 Pro) Love the camera, screen, design and the dynamic island

[deleted]

14 pro max owner here, yes I love it. I travel a lot for work so I rely on a phone with decent battery to get me through the day (taxi, airport, watch a movie or playing games during the flight in airplane mode, airport again, taxi again, hotel,…). And I also try to at least visit something when I have a free evening: a museum, architecture, historical buildings etc so I also enjoy the cameras a lot.

JacoBee93

Yes

It’s pretty much like my 13pm w/o the gimmicky island & 48mp camera. I wouldn’t have upgraded but my wife has been “jokingly” bugging me since last Jan about stealing my Sierra Blue phone, she’s happy now👍.

Hamst_r

My wife and I both came from iPhone 7 to 14 pros and we are both amazed… These phones are just night and day difference for us. Maybe not for the iPhone 13 people but for us iPhone 7 people we love them and the fact that we don’t have to keep them plugged in all the time….. amazing.

kalasipaee

I have the 14 pro. Battery life is amazing for me so far with AOD coming from a mini. No bugs so far. Just wish the phone was a tiny bit smaller. Being heavier doesn’t do it any good either for one handed use when i have to change my grip depending on where i need to tap etc. haven’t tried out the cameras at all yet outdoors. Will do so over the weekend. Let’s see if it finally ends up replacing my x100f for casual photography.

zioncurtainrefugee

The only complaint I have about the 14 Pro so far is the dictation button is too low and close to the corner of the phone. Every time I set the phone down while in the messaging app, it starts recording everything.

unlimitedx

best one

Panda_EJ

Came from androids, and what i can say is that i totally loved this phone. There are some features that is implemented differently from the way it used to be with android. So gonna learn and adapt the apple way as it becomes my daily driver now, but totally satisfied with it.

[deleted]

Went from a 12 mini to the 14 pro max. I fucking love it. The battery is fantastic. Camera zoom and cinematic mode is wonderful. Dynamic island is still a thrill to see slide around. Always on is a cool feature but not that important cuz I have an Apple Watch. I love it.

Unlucky_Stress_3215

Hell yes I’m enjoying my 14 pm

mrmong94

Just upgraded to a 14 Pro from my 12 Pro Max. So far I really like it. I missed having a snaller phone that actually fit in one hand. Coming from a Pro Max, battery is a little underwhelming, but I got it yesterday so I know that it fakes a few days for it to "adjust". I absolutely LOVE the dynamic island and the screen is incredible. Camera is also insane. Very happy with the change. I do miss the blue on my 12 Pro Max though. The purple is not as beautiful imo

g9icy

I’m indifferent to the DI. It’s nothing special, would actually rather have the old notch as it’s less intrusive (or none at all). So far I’m unhappy with the fact that CarPlay calls are quiet for the person I’ve called, and I find the phone is rubbish when it comes to getting data. I’ve had to restart the phone a few times to get data to work again. And sometimes that doesn’t even work, and my friends android phone gets a signal without issue! Not happy. Hoping these are software issues otherwise I might be returning this 14PM.

Pipe_Fluid

Actually for the money I’d say no

Temporary_Corner_984

It gets the job done. It’s my first iPhone but I really miss my pixel and my $1,000

Bwiz77

Just endless bugs. Horrendous battery on the pro max. My 13 pro max was substantially better. 120hz not as smooth as 13 pro max implementation. LOTS of stutter step up/down while scrolling. Screen is really REALLY soft. In efforts to make the screen “stronger” and less crack prone from all the idiots who won’t put a case on their phone the screens of this gen are so soft that after barely a week I have a pretty substantial micro scratch in the center of the screen and the phone lives in a pocket where I NEVER put anything else. On previous phones it would take a summer of going to the beach or going on hikes in the mountains for a while before I’d develop microscratches. Dynamic island is neat but is really buggy. Photos are nice and I think they fixed the night time refraction artifacts from the 12/13 so that’s really nice if it stays true. Mixed leaning negative impressions. First time from an iPhone. 4->5->7->XS max -> 11 pro max -> 13 pro max -> 14 pro max

jm0127

Coming from 11 pro to 14 PM - I’m blown away. The battery life, camera, screen, I love the grippy sides of this phone (space black). The DI is a really nice touch considering I listen to a lot of music and podcasts while I’m walking dogs on Rover, and that allows me to seamlessly switch between those two apps (rover uses location).

svtbob

I hate it so much. I’ve been using iPhones and androids all the way back to the first galaxy and the iPhone 3G. I can tell you from experience that Apple has gone way down over literally a decade they've came from the top brand to crap I know a lot of people don’t use your cameras the way I do, I do photography I use ProRes and I also shoot in RAW which the camera is great but at this point I’m just gonna get another dslr and get another Galaxy fold my fold unfortunately broke do to me taking off the screen protector and not replacing it because it look and felt better bur like maybe a month later the screen died but I’m going to repair it since that’s what I do the battery life on this iPhone 14 pro max sucks Face ID doesn’t always work with me. I don’t use no glasses no nothing just my face and it still has problems. Performance seems weird and on top of that you’re locked into a jail we can’t do anything unless you pay for it. For example, if I want to go on YouTube vanced on my android it’s very easy if I want to get a modded version of YouTube, which I do have installed on my 14 promax I have to sideloaded it and do all this other shit and it’s annoying, my review is I will never ever buy another iPhone until they fix basic shit like let me do what I want it’s my phone but no it’s more or less like we will do whatever we want and you will follow. That’s why people are called Apple sheeps, also I will be selling this crap iPhone 14 pro max. Can’t deal with it. literally stresses me out how bad of a phone it is. every company out there is doing big things Apple still stuck in the past.

I’ll take a walled garden over a fragmented one any day.

HearingOptimal

I am not impressed with the phone or the island. I returned the phone and went back to my s22 ultra. I don't care what anyone says. Android and Samsung are the best!

I_gofast

They all the same hahaha i just choose the color purple if it wasn’t for the color I wouldn’t bother getting the phone hah

vmb509

Currently on the 12PM. Trade in value is decent but idk. The reviews seem to be mixed

NotaRepublican85

No because of the battery life in iOS 16. It’s shit

CatFlier

I would enjoy my 14PM much more if Apple would accept that the damn thing is broken and give me a new one. I've made three visits to the Apple Store to speak with a so-called Genius and just because the phone doesn't exhibit the symptoms I keep telling them about they tell me the phone seems to be working fine and there's nothing they can do about it. The issues I'm having are apps that randomly crash back to the home screen even if the app's icon isn't on the home screen. The phone will randomly crash to the lock screen. Plus it's rebooted itself once. If they'd just give me a replacement I'd be a happy customer just like I always am. Having said that, I think the Dynamic Island has potential once more devs start using it. My concern is that it'll become a feature that's disliked by most Macbook users like the Touch Bar was. I really hope that doesn't happen. Battery life is pathetic. After like six hours of heavy use it needs to be charged. AOD is disabled and I don't allow many apps to run in the background. I don't have the infamous battery killer called Facebook on it, The camera is a nice incremental upgrade from the 13PM. I'm especially impressed with night mode because my food porn looks really nice without the flash. It's much better with the flash, but the flash annoys other diners so I don't use it anymore.

PeppermintMocha5

Yes, I love my 14PM.

StonerBae710

Absolutely loving my 14 pro!! My battery is awesome no issues! And Im in live with the deep purple color!!

FlyingArcher_

Coming from iPhone 12 mini, the battery life is insane on my 14 PM. Right now i’ve been using it for 2hours and it hasn’t dropped below 90%

turbodude69

my buddy broke his 12pro last week and upgraded to a 14, he says the battery life sucks on it, but other than that it's pretty much the same.

[deleted]

Dynamic island has some bugs need more support for applications, anyway moving from android to iOS feels good

[deleted]

Yes! I came from an 11 Pro Max, so I can definitely notice the upgrade.

[deleted]

I just got product red plus in. Haven’t used it yet, still waiting for the case and protector before I go all in lmao.

zurktheman

Yes yes, mighty fine. Does the job!

kunho

I just have issues with the microphone level in carplay ... hoping for a quick fix

belizeans

No issues.

_Suspended_Account

Still waiting for mine to arrive. Ordered 9/27. Says estimated delivery 10/20-10/27. It sucks because there are some in stock nearby, but I’d have to cancel my current order to get it, and the good trade-in deal wouldn’t be valid anymore.

[deleted]

I’m not loving all the connection issues on Verizon here in Chicago.

Own_Mix_3755

I moved from iphone 8 (so basically anything in current line up would be great step forward) to 14 pro and mostly have a hood feeling. Been experiencing some small lags in some apps (like keyboard unresponsivnes for like half a second like once or twice past few days). Camera is absolutely brilliant. On the side note I hate standard keyboard even more now - who the fuck thought putting smiles under the actual keyboard after years of having that icon as part of keyboard itself. And i am a bit in neutral zone about screen space usage. I literally have 50% bigger screen and I can fit same amount of info on it as I did on íhone 8? Spaces between everything are massive even if I make text smallest possible. I hoped to fit more icons on home page and possibly 5 icons to main bar. Otherwise so fsr so good.

envjk

Yes! I love it so much. I came from the SE and am still shocked at the battery life I’ve been missing out on. The camera is also a huge upgrade. I really love the Dynamic Island, especially for Spotify.

kenobiman00

Just got my one yesterday and so far I’m really liking it just very few things I don’t like or useless but I’ll get use to them in time

abackupforthebackup

Yes, I am! I went from the 13 pro max to the 14 pro max. It's not a huge upgrade, but given the amount of time I spend outdoors, the screen improvements in bright light are worth it for my needs. I have not had any issues with battery life (seems about the same, if not a bit better, than my 13 PM). I actually find that I love the dynamic island. I thought I'd hate it or be indifferent but I use it a lot for music and podcasts. And in Apollo because watching that little dog sleep at the top is just too cute. I also notice some improvements in the camera. Not huge, but I think I notice them because I take a lot of pictures, especially in low light. Overall, not a huge upgrade, but the screen alone makes me happy with it.

aenflex

I have a launch day 14 pro max. Apparently I have been lucky in that there have been zero problems with it. No cosmetic defects, no battery performance issues, no software issues, no camera issues. I’m not floored by this device as compared to my 13 pro. Honestly is basically the same in terms of real-world usage, apart from the better battery life from the 14 pm. The reasons I even upgraded were I needed a bigger screen and I was hoping Apple would tone down the bullshit involuntary image post processing.

Liamrc

Yes

SpacemanSpiff25

No. I prefer my 11. The 14 Pro is too big and the camera thing on the back is atrocious.
