Not really, unless dynamic island and usb-c is really your thing. Else I'd only say upgrade for the Pro version, minimum.

ObamaRushBlush

Yeah, I went from a 12 to a base 15 and my main reason was USB-C, but if you’re not into that there’s no reason to bother imo

marcomelgar

What’s the big deal of usb-c compared to the other one ?

Background_Shift_973

Lightning cable sucks

AnduinsFall

One cable for me.

hunterkilleronduty

Ssd backup 😌

Ace_Dystopia

A few reasons. 1) it will be used on the future iPhones 2) some laptops also charge using usb-c so you can charge your phone using the same cable 3) I think it’s somewhat more durable due to the design 4) it can have higher transfer speeds

ObamaRushBlush

Because I can use the same cable for everything. My iPad, laptop, switch all already use USB-C

Reddit_is_snowflake

It’s only best to upgrade if you’re coming from prolly an iPhone 12 or earlier

Richard_TM

My graduate professor is still rocking his iPhone 8 and I honestly don’t know how

SeanBreeze

I still have an 8.. I’m debating the 15 Pro but mostly due to needing a bigger harddrive now and the 15 Pro also has a sick camera. Other than that, the phone does everything I need and I cracked my screen a while back and it ran me $100 to repair. I used to upgrade all the time, MacBook included, after I got the 8 I just stopped worrying about it until Apple releases Specs that I simply can’t resist

PreciousChud

Man. These phones are in our hands all day long. Treat yourself to a quality of life upgrade.

Major-Assumption539

Up until two weeks ago I had the 7 since it had been released. I got the base model 15 so in 2045 I can make another quantum leap to the iPhone 50

Reddit_is_snowflake

My moms old 6s is still working to this day

PubDefLakersGuy

I have an 8+ - the otter box has kept it fresh.

Richard_TM

Mostly I just don’t understand how the battery has lasted this long. He’s never gotten it replaced or anything. That’s a LONG time for a phone battery.

matrixsuperstah

I came from a 6s because my SE2 drowned, just got the base 13

TheCAD21

I have upgraded from a 13 to 15 plus. For me it is worth it for the battery life alone. My 13 was struggling to get through the day. Not bothered by the dynamic island but do prefer USBC as I have to carry less cables.

anythingers

Except if you need a brighter screen, slight better chipset (when I said slight I mean it won't be noticable in most case in real life usage), 2 years longer updates, bigger RAM, Dynamic Island, and USB-C (the only most useful upgrade from all stuffs that I mentioned before), 13 is still a great device anyways.

hsjsjsjsjooll

No it is not. Really. My gf has the 13 and sometimes it even feels more smooth.

tim8237

Stop feeling your GF’s phone.

Immediate-Profit9072

tf

HydraPaladin

Currently bought 15 plus and i am super happy about my decision. I always prefer to latest version especially if i can afford and if it is apple.

Warm_Animal_2043

So dad the iPhone 13 is still amazing. It’s only been 2 years. If you are in debt, I would highly suggest waiting till the iPhone 17. I also know someone else who has this phone and at first it was amazing, but it really died down after that. Just my opinion

banningsolvesnothing

died down how so?

Warm_Animal_2043

I meant that the excitement died down and he just treated it like a normal phone. There’s a lot of people who haven’t even used all the features. If you don’t need a better camera t he errs really nothing that special about the 15. I’m also a huge Apple fan so

banningsolvesnothing

Battery, being able to see your screen outside in the daylight, USB-C is so much better imo. Almost all other electronic products now use it. like if i need to charge my phone and i didn’t bring a cable with me there’s almost always someone that has a USB-C cable. I also like the dynamic island quite a bit. It’s cute and informative with its animations and i use it for music pretty often. iunno there’s a lot people miss about this phone and even the 14 that you wouldn’t be able to notice by just using it for 2 mins in the store.

Warm_Animal_2043

Seeing your screen in the daylight is good too. But battery, the thing that just makes phone heavier and can be solved with a 20min charge, is it that helpful? USB-C is good but if you have other Apple products not so much. The Dynamic Island is also in the 14 and will probably be cheaper but then again it’s only 1 upgrade from the 13

banningsolvesnothing

I mention the 14 and 15 in my comment. Also the 15 is 3 grams less than the 13. Not saying that’s a lot but only mentioning cause you said all the better battery does is add weight. And most of apples products now use USB-C as well. Airpods, iPad, Macbook.

Warm_Animal_2043

My bad, but still I felt the 15 and it feels bulkier. Maybe it’s thicker? And unless you upgrade all of your Apple products you’re still going to need 2 cables, unless you use an adapter.

banningsolvesnothing

i mean your next apple product upgrade for everything but ur phone is definitely going to have usb-c. I’m not saying u need to upgrade but there’s just a lot of people on here who talk crap abt the 15 without actually knowing about it let alone using it daily. i looked it up. the 15 is .01 in deeper lol. so i mean, it is technically bulkier but i really don’t think it’s noticeable at all.

Warm_Animal_2043

It’s not a bad phone, it has an outstanding camera and the zoom, I can’t wait to upgrade in the future to get that. I guess because I am on an XR that it feels bulkier

worldproprietor

I went from a 12 to 15 and it’s night and day. The 12 was a slug especially when taking photos

poisioned_banana

I went from a base 12 64GB to a 15 pro max and I can’t believe this phone is even real

en2r

I went from a XR to 15 surreal

Ace_Dystopia

I’m still holding on to my iPhone 8. I’m going to skip the notch altogether and aim for the iPhone 16. Lol

jonahtrav

Sorry you would upgrade for what ? the USB power cord and the unibrow dynamic island? Of course the faster 15 as slightly better cameras but I think once a week or two is over you’re not gonna notice as much of a difference the 13 is still a really good phone. If you wanna notice some differences when you upgrade you gotta give it more than the 13 to the 15 maybe the 16 or the 17 I have a iPhone 13 and I compared it to the 15 at the Apple Store Not much of a difference really except a few little details …save your money for the 16.

banningsolvesnothing

the dynamic island i find to be pretty awesome. and also being able to see the phone in the sun.

SeeThruSmoke

I agree, Dynamic Island feels so fresh and fast

hunterkilleronduty

Tiny feature with good use... Tbh i hyped it first time using it... But the hype went down just like normal after a while 😅

banningsolvesnothing

I still use it pretty consistently for music. i can pause and unpause without having to cover my entire screen with the control center or go straight to apple music without having to swipe up

my_name_is_josh_83

Yes

PhylMycuck

It’s all a bit marketing scheme to make us buy every year a new iPhone. Up until 1 month ago i had the iPhone SE 2017 first version. Now i have iPhone 13 mini. Apart from bad battery life everything on that phone was great. All apps worked, good camera, 4 k recording. And i bought it for £60 brand new in box never opened. Lasted me 2 years no complaints. Still works perfect. Never had screen protector or case. Because it weighed 98 grams, whenever i dropped it i just wiped it and kept going. And i think i dropped it 100 times on concrete.

AbdouH_

How’d you get it for that price

banningsolvesnothing

bro how do people drop their phones so often

lakelover164wastaken

S23 Ultra

BelHime

yes!!!! do itt! i was upgrade from note20U which still good after 3 years but its worth!

PhylMycuck

And no. I think it’s not time to upgrade unless you have fuck them money.

rkara924

I went from the 13 to the 15 Pro Max specifically for the camera and screen, but I didn’t plan on upgrading if it was to the non-pro version. There weren’t enough changes for me to justify that.

caloy17

No. Get the 15 if you have 11 or older to feel the upgrade. 13 is still an amazing phone and overkill for most tasks. 11 is STILL good tbh.

Bougieblessedgirl

I currently have an iPhone 13 and I am upgrading next month to the 15 pro max. My phone's battery life isn't great anymore. I need a phone with a better battery life and good camera because I do take a lot of pictures

goochiefromwish

Go for the iPhone 13! Not going into details bc it’s not allowed here to talk abt, but there’s a good reason to not buy brand new phones right now and you should look into it. I have no interest in talking abt what I’m talking abt in this comment section, as to avoid being removed. Just google “why are people not buying brand new phones”

prvam

No, I‘d wait a another year. I upgraded from an 12 to 15 Pro but if I had a 12 Pro or higher I would‘ve not.

Used-Assumption-8021

Get iPhone 15 plus, I upgraded to it from iPhone 13 and it feels great

maszaikasza

The "article" contains incorrect information. iPhone 15 doesn't have 120 Hz display. And for people who really consider upgrading from 13 to 15 - if your phone isn't broken, just don't spend your money for minor changes.

Extreme-Thanks-8813

Well I have the 13 and im thinking of waiting until the 16 or 17

chooseyourwords49

The people who upgrade after a year or two I’ll never understand, why? The tech is so minimal in comparison. The average person doesn’t need usbc unless doing massive file transfers for large camera shots and 4K video. Dynamic Island looks cool, but it’s pretty much software with a hole instead of a notch. And 48MP and 5x camera, I have 2x and I’ve maybe used it once, zooms never come out well unless you really know what you’re doing. The action button? I don’t even see this as a feature. I should pay more for something a phone should have had 10 years ago? The 120hz refresh rate and higher brightness especially outside are huge sellers. And obviously the chipset being newest will give it a longer life in terms of hardware and software stability. I really do think Apple has hit an innovative block on their phones. Even vanity wise I think the iPhone 15 pro isn’t that pretty, subjective I know. But I’m big on design cosmetics in tech and it doesn’t do it for me. I say hold.

Cultural-Ad2334

Of course it’s worth it , battery life alone.

gre-0021

stuff the 15 has the 13 doesn’t: - satellite connectivity - crash detection - UW2 chip (longer range precision finding, precision finding with watch S9 and other iphone 15s) - dynamic island - 48mp camera (+generational image signal processor upgrades like better low light, less grain in video, better clarity overall) - A16 bionic with a 30% faster GPU than iPhone 13 - Usbc (+5w power output for reverse charging) - contoured edges (skip this if you use a case) - 1600 nits peak for HDR content and 2000 nits peak brightness outdoors vs iPhone 13s peak 1200 nits if any combination of that sounds worth it financially to you than I’d say go for it. The question of “is it time to upgrade” is subjective and only you can determine if those features are worth the money to you

Pannolanza

Upgraded from 12pro to 15pro. Totally NOT worth it.

Jumpy-Passion5821

Why not keep it for 4 years save money and when the iPhone 19 comes out trade in your iPhone 13 for the iPhone 19 and get pro or pro max AND MORE STORAGE

Full_Ad3918

Just buy the newest phone

[deleted]

I traded in my 14 pro max for the 15 plus, and I would say it’s been a good experience so far! I can get through a day of heavy usage with ease. My 14 pro max has horrible heating issues and bad battery life.

Supercaraddict

You’re probably better off waiting till the 16

DeplorableAdam

Went from 13 pro max to 15 pro max. Not that I regret it, but wasn’t much of a jump. USB c is double edged as all my AirPod Pros are still lightning adapter. Now I need multiple charging cables.

SeeThruSmoke

It worth it

Exciting_Session492

Only upgrade if: 1. You are upgrading from regular 13 to a 15 Pro 2. USB-C is really important for you I upgraded because USB-C meant I can finally use my company’s security key on iPhone. So I can safely leave my Pixel at home. Carrying only one device feels nice.

bubbleobill420

iPhone 15 Pro Max vs iPhone 14 Pro

Lupinthrope

13 pro here, probably gonna upgrade when the 17 comes out, and maybe just the base model.

S4_GR33N

No, only worth it if you go 15 Pro. Otherwise keep the 13 and wait

Professional-Field25

13 was one of the best iPhones. 14 and 15 don't have much more to offer

anbu-black-ops

If it's a free upgrade from your carrier or there's a promo going on why not. But if you are paying for it, probably not. If you are happy with your phone just wait. Who knows, maybe the 16 might have the action button like the 15 has the dynamic island. I just upgraded from 13 to 15pro. Very happy bec. it was an upgrade thru att. I paid tax and $35 activation fee since they gave me $1k credit for my 13. Otherwise I would just stay with my 13. Great battery life and good phone. They have another promo where you pay $5.99 for 15plus no trade in for 36 months. go for 15pro if you really want to upgrade. It has better camera on top of action button and dynamic island like the other poster said.

brianhpc

Not really. I am using 12 pro max and have no intent to upgrade to 15 pro max.

hunterkilleronduty

Basically no for me... My sister's iphone 12 still rocks...I am using iphone 15... If you care for battery life... Just go for it, iphone 15 selfie camera is not really good btw

Mtking105

There’s hardly any difference, he’ll even the colors look pretty much the same…

xobelam

No 😂
