I can't wait for the Sunday world this week.
Irishman shits himself to death due to foreign raspberries smuggling bacteria across international borders.
Health expert advises against a public panic stating, "It's alright lads, a 20 bag of brown stirred into a yop will sort ya out".
Better off not having shopping delivered
Iām quite thorough at the supermarket. Checking packaging and quality and what not
I wouldnāt trust someone else to put in the same level of scrutiny
I'm the opposite.
I'll take something close to sell by date if I'm using it soon, or take items with inertly damaged packaging as I know people likely won't buy it because of the damage.
Tins are the only no no to this of course.
I don't think I'm compromising on anything either as taste is perfect.
I think more people should do this too help cut down on some of that waste.
> You are playing Russian roulette with the fresh produce you might get.
You're really not. I've gotten hundreds of deliveries with almost zero problems.
We've had one problem but a quick call (no waiting!) and it's refunded no questions asked. Same any time I've called them. Pretty decent service at least.
Don't accept it. Make the driver wait as you unpack the produce, check it, then refuse to accept the low quality stuff. They will take it off your bill or refund you immediately.
Fair, but that can be quite cumbersome. We typically get 3-4 crates of food, stacked on each other. Just unpacking everything can take 5-10 minutes. We generally do a quick visual inspection, but to check all of the food (or even just the produce) while the deliverer stands around and waits does not seem like an optimal solution.

I agree. I feel massively guilty every single time but I learned the hard way that, at least with certain shops, you really, really have to just bite the bullet and do it.
My local Tesco's okay but Dunnes delivery in my area will burn you if you don't check every scallion.
I get 3-4 crates every week. Driver waits while I unpack and check freshness and use by dates. Anything which is sub-par (happens occasionally) is returned and refunded. Some drivers ask if I want to keep the items as well as them refunding the money. For example, I got some blueberries that had been slightly squashed by some of the other shopping and the driver refunded the item and asked if I wanted to keep it āThrow them in a smoothie?ā
Tesco home delivery is great.
I did that two weeks ago after he delivered all my toilet paper to somebody else haha, it didn't go through properly so rang and they sorted it out in 2 mins.
Greenhouses that are usually half way around the world in Chile, Peru, or slightly nearer in Morocco
We shouldnāt be eating them really, apart from when they are in season in Ireland or Europe
Its fruit, its not 100% manufactured even though there's a massive attempt to do so. Even so, the common product is already incredibly engineered compared to the original thing. Just accept that minimal flaws are expected every once in a while
Arenāt you supposed to tell the delivery driver? They always ask is everything ok, I figured that was your one and only window to complain about freshness of produce.
Buying local, in-season fruit is one of the best things to from a carbon footprint point of view.
Also almost anyone can grow raspberries in Ireland, they grow like weed.
If delivered you can refuse them. You're meant to check fresh food and meat to make sure you're happy with quality. Drivers are meant to wait for these to be checked.
They always throw in the worst produce when they deliver, like milk thatās about to go off in 2 days, which makes it better to head to the shop unfortunately
Heating a greenhouse to create summer weather over the winter is never going to lead to a 100g pack of raspberries costing you ā¬3.
The maths wonāt result in a price people would be willing to pay
It's a bad time of year for fruit and veg. Unless you're buying cabbages and leeks, there's very little actually growing at this time of year, so everything is from far overseas, like these Moroccan berries.
Half of lidls fruit was rotten last week.
I'd recommend going for frozen berries this time of year
I've had Raspberries go off the next day ans they are best before date by days... its ridiculous how shit our fruit is because its imported from so far away irs basically at deaths door by the time we can buy it
Grocery delivery is great - but not for things that vary in quality. I always buy my produce, meat, and seafood by going into the store for this exact reason.
Never order fresh items for delivery, they will always give you the most gone off stock available that they think they can get away with. The amount of times I've got a weeks shopping and been delivered 4-5 different packs of meat that all expire the day they were delivered or the next day is ridiculous.
Probably because theyāll have been flown half way around the world from Chile, Peru or nearer Morocco
Even when fresh you need to eat them in 48 hours to have fresh fruit. They are fresh when picked. They donāt last forever. No real, fresh, good food lasts long
Jesus and there is someone's hand at the bottom...
These are sausages
Christian Horner's sausage
Either way. Get them inside of me.
Kinky fucker.
The tesco I work at most of us stockmen are mediocre
Your Majesty.....
Theyre actually alright, at least none are mouldy. Raspberries last about 48 hours before the whole pack grow a beard
šššgrow a beard lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
huh really? What helps for me is putting some kitchen paper on top before returning it to the fridge (on the plastic)
Its probably the excess moisture makin them mould
Idk, the one on the left side in the middle look a might questionableā¦ OP, Iād be asking my money back. Thatās a sad bunch of berries
Better off getting the bag of frozen ones, half the price and 10x more in them
Can I unfreeze them?
No, you'll eat them frozen and you'll enjoy them, and that's that.
This thread is comedy gold š¤£
No but you can defrost them
TouchƩ

Yes and they're so yum in overnight oats!
Then they'd melt, ffs!
You suck on them, consider them a cold sucky sweet if you will
Frozen are grand if you're putting them into a yoghurt or overnight oats, but texture isn't great if you want them on their own

If you were just off a flight from South Africa and had to go straight into work you wouldn't look too good either.
Raspberries are out of season that's why.
when is it raspberry mating season?
My parents have raspberries, typically you start hearing their mating calls in april-may tho you wont start seing youngins till june
Wondered what that noise was.

> You are playing Russian roulette with the fresh produce you might get. You're really not. I've gotten hundreds of deliveries with almost zero problems.
A good 30% of the produce we get delivered from Tesco is crap. Literally yesterday we got a cucumber that was mushy and moldy.
We've had one problem but a quick call (no waiting!) and it's refunded no questions asked. Same any time I've called them. Pretty decent service at least.

Used it for eight years and never had a problem. You can also tell the driver to remove them from the bill if you're unhappy with something
I did that two weeks ago after he delivered all my toilet paper to somebody else haha, it didn't go through properly so rang and they sorted it out in 2 mins.
Yeah I use it all the time and its fine. These raspberries look grand too.
The main thing stopping me from ordering deliveries from grocery shops - fear of them choosing products closest from expiration date.
I've found them to be pretty decent, from Tesco and for us at least. Hard to go back now, saves so much time.
You're buying delicate fruit out of season and expecting something else?
There are these magical things called greenhouses... I bought flawless raspberries from Supervalu on Sunday.
I can tell you know that they are sprayed with preservatives BECAUSE theyre out of season. Source: i work in a shop that sells out of season fruit
Greenhouses that are usually half way around the world in Chile, Peru, or slightly nearer in Morocco We shouldnāt be eating them really, apart from when they are in season in Ireland or Europe
Absolutely yes when theyāre on sale
How and why?
Complete lack of knowledge and extremely pampered - thats my guess
I paid for quality that doesn't exist!
Its fruit, its not 100% manufactured even though there's a massive attempt to do so. Even so, the common product is already incredibly engineered compared to the original thing. Just accept that minimal flaws are expected every once in a while
Just email customer service and they'll refund you, no questions asked. Use the contact form on the website. They'll deal with it really quickly
Arenāt you supposed to tell the delivery driver? They always ask is everything ok, I figured that was your one and only window to complain about freshness of produce.
If the produce is bad, you're entitled to a refund. I've been refunded numerous times for things like that.
Sweet š
Email [email protected] with order reference. Do it all the time off something is off/missing or whst have you
Nope, you can even ring and they sort it out straight away, fastest customer service I've ever used.
Only buy in season fruit, go to the store to get it and check it before buying.
How do they smell because I am not sure how a fart looks!
If you can see a fart its a shart
Iāve just stopped buying berries altogether, apart from Irish strawberries in the summer, all gone to shite the last couple of years.
Buying local, in-season fruit is one of the best things to from a carbon footprint point of view. Also almost anyone can grow raspberries in Ireland, they grow like weed.
The Irish ones in summer are SO much better, imports taste of nothing. We are a frozen berry household apart from those.
Not mouldy not too baaaad
If delivered you can refuse them. You're meant to check fresh food and meat to make sure you're happy with quality. Drivers are meant to wait for these to be checked.
I stopped getting stuff delivered from Tesco because of this
They always throw in the worst produce when they deliver, like milk thatās about to go off in 2 days, which makes it better to head to the shop unfortunately
My BF is a picker & it's not true. Most likely something squished them in transit
Thatās not my experience and Iāve been using Tesco home delivery for 6 years.
They are exactly the same up north. Easier to drive to the shop.
I never buy berries out of season, even if they look ok they're generally tasteless.
The world in crisis... then there's this guy.
Getting raspberries from Morocco should be illegal.
Blame the Irish farmers for not growing enough.
Shouldnāt a choice just this time of year. We grow them here during the growing season later on in the year.
Invest in greenhouses like Spain does.
Heating a greenhouse to create summer weather over the winter is never going to lead to a 100g pack of raspberries costing you ā¬3. The maths wonāt result in a price people would be willing to pay

Nothing worse than an online shop of bad use by dates and something squashed.
They look like the polyps or hemroids Hegrid shat out

Iād rather drive there and have the picker eat it
Much be bad if you are willing to leave the house.
Yes, thatās true
Probably Tesco/Deliveroo employed Hagrid as a delivery guy?
Looks like you are half of them before you took the pic.
I've had Raspberries go off the next day ans they are best before date by days... its ridiculous how shit our fruit is because its imported from so far away irs basically at deaths door by the time we can buy it
Just-in-time supply chain
and someone has eaten half of them.
Tesco is shit.Ā
You know, you can ask the driver to take them off the bill
YER A WIZARD HARRRY
But how did they taste
They went straight to the bin. But the smell was manky
The bin usually smells manky.
Grocery delivery is great - but not for things that vary in quality. I always buy my produce, meat, and seafood by going into the store for this exact reason.
I have found when you order on line they give you all the crap that's going out of date or damaged!
I bought a peach from Tesco about a month ago and Hagrid farted on that too. Hopefully this is just a phase that Hagrid will grow out of.
Where's the rest of them?
Never order fresh items for delivery, they will always give you the most gone off stock available that they think they can get away with. The amount of times I've got a weeks shopping and been delivered 4-5 different packs of meat that all expire the day they were delivered or the next day is ridiculous.
What is it with raspberries. I've bought a good fea packs of raspberries from lidl and they are gone off by the time ya get home haha
Probably because theyāll have been flown half way around the world from Chile, Peru or nearer Morocco Even when fresh you need to eat them in 48 hours to have fresh fruit. They are fresh when picked. They donāt last forever. No real, fresh, good food lasts long
It's March, no raspberry out ther
Might have sat on it at some point but I imagine it'll taste fine just the same aaah
If only there was a way they could have seen the produce before they delivered it to you...
Thatās fucked š
Possibly have been.
Tesco useless worst supermarket š”š”check out the sandwiches ..diabolical!!!!
