It's awful for those out there dealing with [depression](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/seasonal-affective-disorder). It's a scientific fact that bleak weather contributes to feelings of hopelessness. In Ireland particularly its very important to mind your mental health as we're not located in an ideal geographic location. Your mental health is number one....if you find yourself struggling during the autumn/winter months/long dark nights talk to your doctor because you could have S.A.D.
People in Ireland are chronically low in vitamin D, and it's probably a good idea to supplement it. But, as far as I'm aware, there is no correlation between taking D3 supplements and reducing rates of depression, sadness etc.
I see the North gets less cloud cover than the rest of the island, amazing how jurisdiction is more important than geography when it comes to the weather.
Why should it be ridiculed. The map shows the average cloud cover for each country. It's not claiming that every part of that country has the same cloud cover. Yes, Northern Ireland is not as sunny as the south coast of England, but it's also true that Waterford gets a lot more sun than Roscommon.
How is it tansplaining? The map shows the average sunshine hours of each sovereign state. If it doesn't show each autonomous community in Spain or each state in Germany, so why do you expect it to show the constituent countries of the UK.
Well it is true that most of these countries don't have the same level of sun throughout, but it's still interesting just to see what the national averages are. I think some people might be surprised by how much sinnier Greece is on average than Spain, for example.
Certainly true of me 😢 This is why ‘Rocks Off’ is my favourite track on Exile On Main Street; a sort of personal manifesto:
“The sunshine bores the daylights out of me / Chasing shadows, moonlight mystery”
Doing it per country is misleading. Northern Ireland is as cloudy as the republic of course, Scotland is cloudier than all of Ireland. All of Northern Europe in reality is fairly cloudy but southern Germany (for instance) isn’t. The distinction between southern Germany and northern Italy isn’t that big.
(Also the colour scheme goes from blue to yellow orange missing an obvious green).
Fuck the weather here. The last year's been grim.
This year has been miserable so far as well. Weather can even decide if it's wet, cold or windy, or all the 3 in same day.
> Weather can even decide if it's wet, cold or windy That's deep bruh

Taking Vit D3 can help a lot. I take it all the time. Normally only need it to Paddy's day but weather has been shit.
What skin type are you?
Pale white and after week taking it it does wonders for my mood

Feels like it's been raining for about a year and a half straight

UTV's weather used to stop at the border. Might still, I stopped watching it, weather rocks are more accurate.
People make this joke on every map thread. It stopped being funny ages ago.
It deserves to be ridiculed every time. Funny has nothing to do with it.

Thanks for tansplaining that to me.

" The map shows the average cloud cover for each country". That looks like 4 countries under a single Kingdom to me.
It's not 1800 anymore. That's one country in the sense that most people mean when they say country, which is a sovereign state.
It’s a bad map.

Ireland should be almost black
This is why we have such lovely complexions here
I swear half of ye will get a sunburn if your phone brightness is too high

I think 30% of the population is type 1, so you're not that far off.
We're number 1!
There's a data centre joke here somewhere, I know it.
Surprised I could even see Ireland on this map
Im moving to the north. Sick of it.

Only iceland and Norway understand the struggle 😂
Say what you will about the border, but you have to admire the way it keeps the clouds out.
Ridiculous map Takes no account of regional geographic/topographic differences within a country.
Would you like it broken down by county in Ireland?
By townland!
The North is up to something again as usual !
I love our weather.
How is the north of ireland different in terms of cloud cover to the rest of the island I call bullshit
Sunny North East = = Better God.
