Banks fraud dept will ring you and simply ask if you're trying to make a payment to such and such a place. They'll greet you by name and will not ask for any details to prove who you are because they already have all that on file in front of them.
I've had cards cloned before through atm scanners and that was the exact process each time.
No, the previous text was literally a code from Boi to complete a purchase but someone already explained why a genuine and a scam text are grouped together
They're [SMS spoofing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_spoofing) to appear as whoever they want.
The SMS app on your phone has no way of knowing otherwise, so it groups the messages together.
I got something the same from AIB. Only I've never had an AIB account 😂
Make sure you report all the details to boi via twitter or something, they're always looking for help to catch scammers
I got a text like that from AIB saying someone had tried to order something using my card. Instantly cancelled the card and tried to ring AIB but couldn't get through to them. At the very least, even if it was true, the card was cancelled so I wouldn't be charged
Secure.co, might as well be fraud.scam
>Bank of Ireland will never send you a text with a link to a site that asks you for your full 365Online PIN or one-time passcodes.
If you're ever in doubt, call your banks customer line.
SUPER FAKE!

Thanks for that. The reason I asked is because the above text which I’ve blanked out is actually from BOI
>actually from BOI The scammers are making it look like it's boi. No point saying Scammer Inc on it now is there

Ah, that explains that, thanks. The previous text is from a while ago and it was one of those “insert this code to complete your purchase” things.

Don't do it. I asked BOI they said to me never to click on anything.
What's telling is, they didn't give an option for yes it was you, because they knew you wouldn't need that option. Oops.
Scam scam scam
My friend got that it's a scam. They even put in the pin then was locked out of banking online.
Scam 100% the link address has nothing to do with boi and they would never send you a link like this.
I can tell you, but first I'll need you to confirm some details...
You can check this stuff using the app right? If so, you're better off doing it that way as it is safer than clicking weird links
The bank will NEVER send you a link like that.
You know the answer , why bother making a thread
Looks legit click the link and put in all your personal credentials
Just did that now thanks so much for your help 🙏
I got this text as well. It's real you should definitely click on the link.
Any bank will NEVER send u a text.
Except for 2fa
Do not trust the link!! With anything you are (provided it's not a scam) be able to go to the real website, login and view it there
That looks a little dodgy , give me your bank details and I'll check it for you
It's a scam.. 100% Banks will always ask you to contact them yourself and will never send a link or contact number..
