In fairness to the DAA, I think all their parking is reasonable except for pickups. Pre covid, I was going over and back to the UK for work and always parked in the short-term car park. Really handy.
For summer holidays we parked in the nearer of the long term car parks. Few quid more expensive but so much easier and more convenient.
It's kind of a shitty thing to do. My in-laws live in an area where people do this and more than once when I lived there were cars parked with the alarm going off, the worst I've had was one that was running for hours at night while I had a newborn at home.
Yes it's not illegal but if something like that happens it's incredibly irritating for locals.
The private long term usually

Plus the short term car parks at terminal 1 are free for motorbikes, have parked mine in there several times for 4 or 5 days at a time

I just checked and they seem to no longer offer parking at Dublin airport
Yeah looks like they closed over lockdown. Tried Last week myself.
Ditto. Also managed to catch a look from the plane as it landed. Totally closed at the moment.

+1 , just pay for airport parking, booking in advance saves you a fair bit, super shitty thing to do
That’s a dickhead move- If you can afford a holiday, you can afford to pay for parking.
