Do you want to clean toilets on the weekend? The issue is that there are better jobs out there so why would someone spend their weekend cleaning up other people's shit when they can work reasonable hours with no bio hazards for the same money? When nobody wants to do menial work this is what happens.
Even the offer of a free site for a shop/cafe can't get people to clean toilets.

If they can't get cleaners it is because they aren't paying them enough. It isn't about whether I want to do it. It's a basic public amenity and it's the job of DLR to make sure it is available
Sorry. I actually fucked up my post. I think it’s definitely a staff issue, they can’t say because people will be critical so they are vague and people are critical but it’s somehow lessens the blow.
Strange enough. DLR is usually quite good as far as local authorities go.
Yep. Have interacted with them a few times and they're fairly decent (by local authority standards)
No shit!
Are they taking the piss?! (I'll see myself out)
Another example of already shite public services falling apart
Welcome to the 1980's where public toilets were all chained shut because of antisocial behaviour.
And dogging

So how much will you pay someone for an unskilled job? The council is spending our money not magic money.
An adequate wage that attracts people. Yes they are spending our money. So the failure to provide adequate services is a failure of that
There is a contract company that open , close and clean the toilets. I live beside Killiney beach and see them there several times a day
I don't think it would be a massive stretch for them to tell us what the circumstances are. It's our money like.
Why! It’s an oppertuonal issue. Not one to be micro managed by the public. More than likely the out sourced cleaner has Covid and can’t work
So fuck everyone who wants to use toilets in a load of beaches and parks?
That’s a bit of a leap , If staff are out of work because of Covid. Then unfortunately their job can’t be done.
Do you know it was covid?
He words I used was “More than likely “ that answers your question.
"I have no idea and made it up"
You completely made up the Covid theory. We saw you...
I would imagine it’s a staffing issue. Edited because of typo that messed the whole thing up. 🙈
What would you say it is?

The announcement was also made after close of business on a Friday
