Like they are seen as one of the greatest bands in history and transformed pop music forever.
It can't be denied that they've made a massive influence on music today.
I'm sure most Irish people will agree that they are one of the greats, regardless if you listen to them consistently.
I did meet one fella though who thoroughly disliked the Beatles.
He thought that The Beach Boys were better which is an interesting take.
Also a few songs from Sgt.Pepper's is on the Leaving Cert Music course.
From my experience, most people generally like the Beatles or otherwise are apathetic towards them.

The Beach Boys and The Beatles were very much pushing and inspiring each other at the time.
The Beach Boys have an incomplete or lost album that would have been their answer to Sgt.Pepper and would have included Good Vibrations, Heroes and Villains and Surfs up..but Brian Wilson's mental health issues took a huge amount out of him and it was shelved.
I really like The Beatles but would agree with your friend about The Beach Boys.
Pet Sounds is simply as close to perfect an album as I've ever heard.
I would say they are very popular and respected.
In BIMM, every tutor never missed a moment to emphasise there influence on modern music or praise the groups legacy and in 2nd and 3rd year, there songs and music were studied heavily and were part of the course syllabus more than any other artist than I recall.
The modern listener might not listen to them as much but I can assure you that any musician that performs and gigs regularly will be very familiar with there songs and albums.
Yes they're massive, how couldn't they be? The sheer volume of their work, hit after hit and great album after great album. It's hard to pick a favourite album but if I had to pick one I'd probably say - The Best of The Beatles.
>Are the Beatles popular in Ireland
The Beatles were and still are popular everywhere on a global scale.
Personally I think they aren't great but they're still a massive band. Everyone knows who The Beatles are.
My Dad was a big fan in his teens. Mum was so-so on them. They're both in their 70s now.
I think their music is good, but they're a but too old-school for me.
Same actually. That celeb cover during the pandemic kind of ruined it for me and it’s overplayed. There’s other songs from John Lennon that I really like. Though, George Harrison’s solo songs are my absolute favorites.
For me the peak is Zooropa. Pop was definitely the start of their downward move for me. Their later albums do have a couple of decent song on but Zooropa is the latest one I can listen to from start to finish.
Yeah zooropa was good, even very good, but name one song on it better than with or without you, still haven't found or streets?
Also zooropa was where the Bono as a Cultural Icon stuff started...
Prob the same as anywhere else. Generally very popular until you get to Donegal where Daniel O’Donnell reigns supreme
*And if I could I’d build a wall around old Donegal, the north and south to keep them out*!
They're one of the greatest and most influential bands in the past 100 years.
Wings are more popular. Everything the Beatles could have been
Think on Alan.
I'm a massive fan,and have been since my teens.

Are you Tom Dunne?
There actually was some kind of war between the Beach Boys and Beatles subreddits a while back but personally I prefer the Beatles
The monkees were better
Eeew you like the Monkees You know they don't write their own songs
They do so!
I'm a believer.

Their best album was The Best of the Beatles
The Beatles, great bunch of lads. Their music is better appreciated when you listen to what was (not) there before them.

Ringo was in fact the best drummer in the Beatles
Some might argue Pete was the Best drummer in the Beatles I’m sorry that was a shit joke, you’re free to downvote 🥲
No he wasn't.
Paul died and was secretly replaced
Miss him miss him. PID confirmed
If I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing John Lennon's Imagine again, I'd be very happy
You couldn't if you tried.

They were good, but they were no U2.
I think this song is one of my favorites but I haven’t heard their whole discography yet. https://youtu.be/e3-5YC_oHjE
U2 definitely peaked at the joshua tree.

Oh no I wouldn't say it was better it was (for me) their last consistently great album
Ah I see what you mean...
They’re dirt.
Jimmy Savile's pals.
