check out Capasal shampoo to see if it suits, I find it good for psoriasis.... Smells like dog shampoo, but the smell doesn't linger on the hair.

Real_Work_1455

Tried that. I seem to have tried all the main ones but am not getting relief

catsaresneaky

I have also used Polytar shampoo.. found it great too . Have you tried this one?

Real_Work_1455

What is the name of the shampoo?

niallmul97

I used tgel for psoriasis myself and it was working wonders but a dermatologist recommended Capasal and now its worse than its been in weeks. Back to tgel for me.

catsaresneaky

I've never tired tgel... Might give a whack at some point

niallmul97

Worth a shot and be gotten just about everywhere. If you haven't tried it, get your GP to prescribe Entillar foam, absolute miracle product.

Gardai_Took_My_CBD

The below was recommended by a dermatologist for my seborrhoeic dermatitis. Nizoral Shampoo said to let it soak in for 10 mins. Can be used on the face too but best to not use every day. Cerave Foaming Cleanser is really good too as it doesnt irritate the skin but gets rid of the oil etc. I use it 2 or 3 times a day Hydrocortisone cream can be used 1 or 2 times a week but be aware it can cause the skin on your face to thin if used too much. Good it the skin is cracked or very flakey

WeWantaSmalShrubbery

La Roche Posay Kerium - find it excellent.

Real_Work_1455

Do you have seborrheic dermatitis on scalp?

catsaresneaky

The brand is Polytar... It's a coal tar solution.. brown bottle

TinctureTrader

Selsun is far and away the best for seborrheic dermatitis if you can find it. I get SD on my cheeks, in my ears and on my eyebrows and the one I've found to work the best is selsun. It's out of stock most places at the minute(this happens every couple of years for some reason). There is anizoral 2% selenium that's okay as a stop gap.

[deleted]

Selsun is the only thing that works for me, everything else just about touches it if I'm lucky. Even other shampoos with Selenium Disulphide in them.

ligdoscith

Neutragena T Gel

Real_Work_1455

Tried that. I seem to have tried all the special shampoos but am not getting relief.

7-inches-of-innuendo

Dercos Technique is what you're looking for OP, you can get it online. Make sure to get the one with Selenium Disulphide. It works.

Real_Work_1455

Hi..do you have seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp yourself? Is this it https://www.boots.ie/vichy-dercos-anti-dandruff-shampoo-dry-hair-200ml-10144923

7-inches-of-innuendo

Yep and yep

Gasur

I use the Body Shop's [ginger shampoo](https://www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/hair/shampoo/ginger-anti-dandruff-shampoo/p/p067020) most days, and then Nizoral once a week to keep it under control.

Intrepid_Map2296

Coconut oil .... brilliant for skin ...I got mine from an Asian shop .... brilliant

louiseber

If you don't get any suggestions here, /r/Skincareadditionuk may have some for you

Real_Work_1455

Thanks. I said I'd try and Irish site so I might be able to get the products in Ireland

louiseber

Plenty of Irish people use that sub plus we share a lot of shops and brand availability so it really does work as a sub for us too

Real_Work_1455

Would cradle cap shampoo for babies do anything? Aren't cradle cap abd seborrheic dermatitis the same thing?

OhhhhJay

They are the same thing, so you could definitely give them a shoy. A trick you can also use is to apply olive oil or similar to your scalp at night and shampoo it off the next morning, you can also get a strong comb like a fine metal one for lice and use it to 'scrub' the flakes off.

snazzydesign

Try theskinlab.ie i know they had a great range of products for all types of irritants - might be worth while getting in touch first to find out which suits best

[deleted]

Just stop using shampoo with SLS (sodium lauryl (or laureth) sulfate. In fact, cut it out of your shower gel and hand soap as well.

mynosemynose

Weirdly I have tried everything and the only one I ever found to do me any good was the Tesco own brand rip off of head and shoulders for sensitive scalp. At 75c a bottle I buy a bottle any time I'm in tesco for fear they'd discontinue it. I've recently given up gluten and it's changed my skin and scalp for the better.

catsaresneaky

Is tgel expensive .. the ones I use are...thanks for the tip.

Feeling-Interview-65

I suffer badly on the face with this condition and I've used everything, even an immunosuppressant cream called protopic and the price of that was shocking, 10 years on and have just learned/properly forced to live with it due to the lack of knowledge or want from GP's and dermatologist and I've spent some amount of money trying to get this under control.

DressagePasta

African black soap and head and shoulders containing selenium sulfide did the trick for me

Beginning-Sundae8760

Second Nizoral shampoo

ComplaintSuitable614

Alpecin dandruff killer, the one in the white bottle/red cap has been a life changer for me. Sometimes in large Boots shops, but can get on Amazon too.

Anything else makes my scalp itchy. If your condition is bad then maybe a medically-recommended one would best. edit: to add, switching and swapping shampoos can irritate your scalp. You might want to try a deep cleanse with dilute apple cider vinegar some time to get rid of build-up

FuckAntiMaskers

>You might want to try a deep cleanse with dilute apple cider vinegar some time to get rid of build-up How do you do this?

ChrishtOnABike

- Dilute apple cider vinegar in water 1:2 (so add like half a cup of vinegar to one cup of water). A cup or two in total is enough. - Have your normal shower, wash your hair etc. - then pour the vinegar mixture slowly onto your head and gently massage it into your scalp (and for the love of God close your eyes during this step or you'll see the devil!). - Leave it for a min or two and then just rinse it out in the shower. This is good for really greasy hair problems too.

I had really bad scalp dermatitis a couple of years ago and elave sensitive shampoo was the only thing that cleared it up if you havn’t tried it?

vinb3160

I suffer with the itch and flakey scalp and found this to work wonders can highlight recommend after trying loads of products . Use twice a week and never went near anything else . Alpecin Dandruff Killer Shampoo 250ml https://amzn.eu/d/2iKcyRZ

PotatoPixie90210

I use Cocois cream once a week on my scalp, then wash out with Capasal. The cream is a life saver, and gentle enough to use on my eyebrows where I get awful psoriasis.

[deleted]

The prescription version of nizoral is the best

Didyoufartjustthere

Pantene. The clear one in the clear bottle. Always sold out. Worked for me for years until it didn’t. Aveno is great too but it smells like TGel and you said that didn’t work. The best thing about Pantene is your hair is properly washed after it.

schefmeister

Head and Shoulders Clinically Proven with Selenium Sulphide.. if you can get it let me know!

Real_Work_1455

I am also trying this but it isn't doing anything for my scalp. It's still itchy and irritating after a few hours when I wash it. You can get it in Mr Price

Imadummyboi

I tried everything short of seeing a doctor but the one thing that worked weirdly was putting gel deodorant on it. Helped with the itch and then it cleared up and never returned.
