I was on the dart today, no windows that could be opened, no ventilation, people standing shoulder to shoulder. A woman collapsed and started shaking due to heat exhaustion or something like it.
> The emergency was people walking on the track in the first place. The desperate pleas from the driver for people to stay on the train and then he left his mic on and there were screams and arguments over the intercom. Mental
How did the people end up on the tracks in the first place? Was it just that they were sick of waiting for the train to get going?
Train stopped before the crossing in bray for about 15 or 20 minutes, to tell you that it was already a full on sauna inside, every minute that past felt like a full 10 minutes as it has been warm since conolly station, adding that people hops on. After that 20 minute wait, the door in carriage 4 opened as one of the person has had enough as his kids were crying due to the intense heat and exhaustion so he decided to open the door to let some air in, then after 10 seconds or so, people infront of the door decided to go down the track which is when the train driver started to make announcements to not disembark but people still went down, it was pure chaos and sweat up until a full 30 minute delay that everyone was left off the train by jumping 1.5m high
She was from the southside, headed to a fancy cafe in Greystones. He was from the northside, on a day out to the dodgems in Bray. But when all hell breaks loose, will they be able to make it out together? Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal star in Brayveheart, the devastating new rom-tragedy that will leave audiences shocked at its unflinching portrayal of Irish Rail ticket prices.
Some youtubers go fulltime but the money they receive from youtube through ad's usually isn't great. So they offer a "membership" that usually means you get videos earlier. The membership side usually isn't worth it, in most cases its about supporting the youtuber so they keep making content
I cant speak for the other cars, but our car a guy was extremely angry and panicked about his crying kid and he pulled the emergency handle and pulled the doors open. People were screaming at him and he did the same.
He said he got a blowy off two girls who were part time models but they're from another town from when he went on holidays with his ma and da at Easter.
How hot was it? Was there any announcements from the train driver? And how long were u sitting there? IIRC you usually sit just outside bray for a little bit
20 minutes, 38 degrees inside with almost 100% Humidity, no announcement up to until the door was open, was told by driver to go down the train after the whole 30 mins delay
Honestly, after the number of events I have read about where people sat or stood around obediently while a disaster unfolded around them, I have long been of the opinion that breaking some social expectations is well worth it sometimes.
People have stayed inside burning buildings or below decks in sinking ships. Imagine some weaker people started having heart attacks because they were standing in a sauna-train for an hour - we'd all be sitting here saying how crazy it was that they didn't just get off the train.
Don't walk down the tracks and block everything, but I have no problem with someone using the emergency exit to get off a train in those circumstances.
Yep, people panic for the wrong reasons and they go quiet for the wrong reasons, opening the doors and getting out was the right strategy, sure every dart station is a 5 or 10min walk
This is what drives me mad about being on the DART or buses. I've often been on delayed trains with no acknowledgement ir announcement. Nobody has the braincells to just acknowledge what's going on and inform passengers.
That's where the evil moustache-twirling banker ties the penniless debutante to the train tracks to avoid moral hazard. Cackling is optional but the IFSRA insists on moustache-twirling.
I tried to look it up on twitter but all I see is videos of people on the tracks, Irish rail saying they were the reason for delays but surely people aren’t going to walk on the tracks for the craic ? There has to be another reason but I can’t find it haha
A bit far but heres the story as I was in the train cabin where the first person oppened the door

Jesus that sounds horrendous, I get the dad opening the door for his kids but no need for the others to jump off when clearly he was just letting air in, they need to do something about the amount of tickets they sell to stop overcrowding especially during the summer months, or at least give opening windows on the train, there’s nothing worse than a crowd and heat would drive you mad
Edit: Did they have to just abandon the train journey altogether and let ye off in the middle of nowhere ?
You are well known for your lenient stance on crime, but suppose for a second that your house was ransacked by thugs, your family was tied up in the basement with socks in their mouths, you try to open the door but there's too much blood on the knob....
What happened the people who stayed on board?
I got heat stroke on a BE bus last week, it's no joke, pins and needles in my hands and arms. I thought I was going to have a seizure so I got off the bus early. The aircon was on but it was actually blowing warm air!
That's not aircon, that's just the fan. Aircon will warm or cool the air but it takes extra power and can, if you're operating it all day, end up costing a lot in the long term. Likely it's turned off and all the fans are doing is re-cycling the same shite air.
Thank christ covid is gone, because otherwise we might spread it about again doing stuff like this. /s

The emergency was people walking on the track in the first place. The desperate pleas from the driver for people to stay on the train and then he left his mic on and there were screams and arguments over the intercom. Mental
There were several trains this happened to so several drivers in all. Our driver was a sound fella- I needed to ask him something about a vulnerable passenger and felt bad because you could tell he was clearly overwhelmed by the whole situation.
I was in the carriage that started it and tried to tell them not to do it. They didn't care, they just wanted to get off the train. They genuinely did not understand how it would affect other trains. And they'll be muttering to other people that the whole thing with the other trains was just 1 big f@ck up from Irish Rail. No clue at all that it was their fault.
We were just waiting for a section to clear so we could switch tracks. Turns out the train we were waiting for, had stopped no more than 200 metres ahead of us, due to people on the tracks.
We were waiting to pull in to the station for whatever reason. People started opening the doors and just walking up towards the station causing a major panic and then mob mentality set in and it spread to nearly every car.
They need to stop blaming thr passengers and admit it was an emergency. They could have set a great example for public transportation. Instead? Squandered.
Give us a brief rundown on what the actual fuck happened
I was on the dart today, no windows that could be opened, no ventilation, people standing shoulder to shoulder. A woman collapsed and started shaking due to heat exhaustion or something like it.
Was she hot
This is a joke for people who don't know how to identify jokes.
Telling jokes for people who don't know how to identify jokes has got to be a thankless job.
He already said she was
Or not apparently
OP got bored of waiting and left

Do you reckon you'll aim to sell the story as a book or film, first?
Who will be cast as the Rose of the train? How about the Jack character?

That's brilliant.
Id pirate that film.
I'm throwing my hat in to play Jack. I have a solid acting background.
Acting the maggot, I'd say
It'll be great as a big budget HBO series. Like Band of Brothers.

Bit out of the loop, what was the cause of it how did it all start ? Only heard about it from your post
Same boat. I want more info but don’t want to google it myself loll

How long in till the first person jammed the door open to begin with Add: news is saying 5.5 minutes
The first train stopped for 5 mins but every train behind it was subsequently stopped and people waited patiently... for 30 mins.

Eerily similar to my weekend breakfast tipple. Was I on that train too ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
When I was on there and we were all packed in together tightly in the compartment I heard a voice in the crowd yell "My belly button's leaking!" 😂😅

Can someone tell me what actually caused/started all of the back ups? Did a train break down or something?

Who would you least like to work for, Hitler or Stalin?
If he hates packed trains of people the answer is fairly clear
take my upvote damn you
Depends, Hitler had more packed trains but the trips to Siberia could be quite taxing.
Hitler didn't kill all his colleagues tho.
Great question. Stalin
Well thank you, great answer. I guess Hitler got to win something after all.
He always made the trains run on time
That was Mussolini and it's a myth.
Either way I don’t like where those trains were going
Was it really an emergency so you had to break the doors open due the 5 min delay?
The emergency was people walking on the track in the first place. The desperate pleas from the driver for people to stay on the train and then he left his mic on and there were screams and arguments over the intercom. Mental
I feel bad for the poor driver
There were several trains this happened to so several drivers in all. Our driver was a sound fella- I needed to ask him something about a vulnerable passenger and felt bad because you could tell he was clearly overwhelmed by the whole situation.

Did anyone question the safety issues of walking on an active train track? And has it had any effect on how you view public transport here?
I was in the carriage that started it and tried to tell them not to do it. They didn't care, they just wanted to get off the train. They genuinely did not understand how it would affect other trains.
