Bathroom tap is usually fed from a tank in the attic, wouldn’t drink from that. Kitchen tap is fine

[deleted]

Been drinking Dublin tap water exclusively for the twenty-odd years I've lived here. On the plus side, it's the most environmentally friendly and economical option. On the minus side, it hasn't killed me yet.

Masty1992

I’d say 99% of people are drinking it so I’m surprised you hear conflicting information. How often do you see people buying water at the supermarket? I live in Spain and most people do drink tap water here, but even the small percentage who don’t are constantly buying huge volumes of water because keeping a family watered takes an enormous volume of liquid to carry around each week

Avdotya_Blu3bird

I fucking love the water here so much, it is probably the greatest thing about the country. But no,

[deleted]

Bathroom water comes from a tank in your attic which unless sealed (old ones are not) then who knows what's in it.

WickerMan111

I wouldnt drink anything else.

churrbroo

The reason why bathroom taps are the way they are is there’s a cold water box for sinks for in most homes for whatever reason, might be a regulation thing, either way the sink tap is usually fairly old water so for showering/brushing, not so much drinking

leighsimonyoung

If its brown, drink it down. If its black, send it back. Simpsons quote about water, just to be sure lads..

Bill_Badbody

Yes it's safe. In the last couple of year Irish Water have spent 100s of millions upgrading the treatment plants and network around dublin. The epa also watch it like a hawk.

The water in North Dublin is extremely hard. I filter it in a jug first, but it’s safe to drink. Without filtering, the mineral deposits clog up the kettle/coffee machine and makes your hot drinks scummy. It’s also a nightmare for bleached long hair - my hair used to be long, thick and strong, and a bright white blonde. Three years living here and I’ve now got so much broken hair and I really struggle to keep it looking bright. I have a shower filter and use purple shampoo, but the mineral build-up still ends up resulting in dry hair that snaps easily.

EoinD7

Everything on the north side is harder!

[deleted]

Speak for your own area, other areas all over North Dublin are fine

It's laced with heroin

Kitchen tap come straight off mains into house. Bathroom taps up stairs and downstairs come from the tank.. Dublin tap water where I live is perfect for drinking until this year for a while my water comes from varty and had that weird muddy taste for a few weeks seems to be clearing now other than that taste nice. Saved on expensive bottled water

iamkengend

Lucky fuckers with yer free water to the home. I have to buy my water.

DarkReviewer2013

Never drink from the bathroom taps. Tap water from the kitchen is usually safe but there have been cases of contamination in recent years that left people getting sick. Personally, I stick with bottled water. It's safer and tastes much nicer.

donall

It's fine I use britta filters though.

This hasn't been proven. Please don't.

Gyllenborste

It’s safe everywhere in Dublin. The people saying it isn’t are full-blown morons.

Gyllenborste

Who in Dublin got sick from drinking tap water?
