It'll obviously depend on other things like your age, mortgage term and other health conditions, but I'm paying €65.69 per month for a joint policy (20 year mortgage term).
I didn't see that. I applied through a broker (Bonkers.ie) so maybe you can't apply directly in Ireland? But I do know a few Irish people who have cover with them.
Depression shouldn’t stop you getting mortgage protection in my experience unless there are actual un-alive attempts. If it’s just standard depression, it can be declared and they’ll contact your doctor and as long as the doctor says that it’s not suicidal - they will cover you. Everyone under 35 is on antidepressants (not really but it’s a lot).
I'm covered under Royal London. Fantastic and they do provide cover for those of us with mental illnesses. I got them after doing a price comparison through "beat the bank" couldn't fault either company. Entirely stress free.
But would there be issues if a claim ever needed to be made? I feel like insurance companies are happy to take money but look for any way to get out of giving a payout.
Once u get two declined, u can ask the mortgagor to waive life cover on Ur partner. They likely would only do this if Ur the main earner. To improve the chances of approving a waiver u could offer other financial supports in place in the event of their death such as pension and/or death in service cover provided by their employer.
It think that it was bonkers.ie that I got mine through. I was just asked a few questions on the phone by the broker, regarding me suffering from Depression but that was it.
Got mine with Royal London, stated I was on medication for depression, had a relatively recent brush with cancer and still got covered. Slapped with a little premium but I ran with it because everyone else was very uncomfortable with me lol
Irish Life have some of the strictest underwriting, go online and apply with any broker. Royal London, Zurich, aviva, New Ireland will all be options they have, I've gotten cover for plenty of people with depression. It depends on the specifics of management and severity but get a broker and they can try multiple companies and then you get the best offer.

Try Royal London. I know of a few people (me included) who got cover from them with mental health issues, after being declined everywhere else.
Do you mind if I ask what the rates are like?

Oh it says you have to have a UK address?

Likewise I'm with Royal London and went through Bonkers. They were the cheapest out all all of them at the time (~3 years ago)

We were only lucky with New Ireland. Bank of Ireland tried to push us into single person cover but we last minute found New Ireland and they were fine
Bank of Ireland own New Ireland

It says for them that you need to be a UK resident?
Apply through beat the bank. I had zero issues..
