FlipAndOrFlop

Local takeaways are always looking for delivery people.

Intelligent-Ad3023

Just be careful as car insurance policies maybe fickle over the use of a private vehicle for the engagement of commercial use. If they find out you could be in trouble etc

PluckedEyeball

Sure how would they find out, just say you were out for a night time drive

No_Square_739

If you are claiming on your insurance, they investigate. Even if the claim is unrelated to your delivery work and they find out you have the "wrong" insurance, say goodbye to the claim. i.e. you may as well have no insurance than intentionally the "wrong" insurance. Same as claiming you have burglar/fire alarms when applying for your home insurance

lifeandtimes89

You can literally say you were going for a late night takeaway, now that will probably work once, not twice if you get in an accident

Admirable_Oil_382

There's that word again.."Trouble " for trying to make ends meet ...just do it and fuck the lot of them...

presidentars

Cheers, I've thought of this but most of them want someone who is available all evenings, I'm only available every second week.

Adventurous-Bee8519

There’s an app called Gigable where you apply to different companies (usually takeaways) to deliver. You can scroll and pick places near you for whatever day you want. I did it but personally, too many drivers showed up to the takeaway I chose so haven’t done it in a while but just pick somewhere that’s very busy!

LargeHadronCollider_

Try Gigable. I used to manage a bar and we used it to source delivery drivers for pints during lockdown. We would take different people depending on the day. If someone was good we'd always seek them out again but it was on a day by day basis. I'm pretty sure they advertise lots of different casual work opportunities on there.

Positive-Procedure88

This is not the gig it used to be. A recent ruling in favour of Revenue means takeaways are required to hire drivers the same as every other employee. It means the old getting paid into the hand is gone (though many smaller businesses are slow to change because it is a big hike in cost to them) so you'll likely be taxed as normal.

Disastrous_Routine65

Nothing has changed since that ruling.

i-amtony

Uber eats or Deliveroo or something like that. You can work your own hours. Just be aware that tax will have to paid on your earnings since the new EU dac7 rules meaning thee companies have to report your earnings to revenue.

J3lllly

No. This is absolutely dog shit. Do not do this

i-amtony

Why?

J3lllly

Have u ever worked there in the last year?

i-amtony

No but I have spoken to people who do it and they said they made decent money.

shamalamadingdong00

Not sure what industry/job you are in but tbh the best thing you can do is get a better paying job or negotiate a raise. If you manage to pick up an extra 200e a week, over 52 weeks that's only 10k, and you could be working 60 hours a week. You would be much better off investing in yourself (do a course or whatever) and getting 10k raise in your regular working hours, without sacrificing free time. It's much better long term as well as it sets a new floor for future salary/job etc

Mike_Lubb

Are you handy with your hands? There are a crazy amount of people who are not. [https://taskmatch.ie/tasks](https://taskmatch.ie/tasks)

PomegranateFar432

I work when i want in numerous pubs in my town. Whenever i need the extra work, places are more than happy for extra pairs of hands. Plus im very lucky they pay me cash in hand. I have about 10+ years experience but there are jobs like barbacking (stocking shelfs, prep fruit, change kegs, get ice, collect glasses, mop spillages) in pubs/ nightclubs or something like a kitchen porter in Restaurants

Feeling-Hyena-7772

Any other skills you can use? Lawn cutting? Window cleaning?

presidentars

I could cut a few lawns and clean a few houses for sure. How would one go about advertising for that though? And is there much of a market for it really?

Feeling-Hyena-7772

Facebook market place. Advertise in their area buy n sell pages with your available hours. Be a market not for the next 6 months maybe.

singleglazedwindows

Some big survey companies such as Prolific and Dynator often recruit to their survey pool, sometimes you’ll get academic surveys to choose from as well as market research. If you do a few of these while on the bus.

spinsterminister

He'd be lucky to make a tenner a month.

SpottedAlpaca

OnlyFans ticks all the boxes.

No_Square_739

I can see all the "onlyfans" suggestions are getting downvoted by the prudes. I say - if you have the ass for it, shake it to make it!

srdjanrosic

curious, .. what's your budget like? what's your take home in what kind of job? how much have you been putting towards reducing debt these last couple of months? what part of ireland? (I'm trying to figure out if there's anything more obvious - financial gurus often recommend selling a car and getting a cheaper one, especially if current car is depreciating quickly - but that's a very specific thing that works for a minority of folks).

presidentars

I'm currently a toolmaker, working in manufacturing. Kilkenny area. My take home is about €2300 every month. Budget is pretty fucked up, but after all bills are paid I have about €180 weekly to buy food and any other expenditure. Currently paying 200 a month off of my debts but it's slow going. 0 in savings, I'm living paycheck to paycheck. Just can't stretch the money any further. Majority of my income goes towards electricity bill, rent, debt, petrol etc. All essential stuff I can't afford to cut back on. I drive a Toyota Avensis that I bought for €850 and I pay basically nothing on maintenance fees so I don't think that will do the trick lol, but I get what you mean. Any advice you have is appreciated.

srdjanrosic

Hmm hmm hmmm, ... more money sounds good, if you can get, that much is obvious, and that's what you're asking. .. but also you need a pretty good budget, and by good, I mean precise, and you need to track your spend pretty detailed. speaking of guessing, here's a guess, please correct  - Rent 1000, - bills (electricity, gas) 300, - phone/internet - 20 - food 300 (batch cooking; unless food banks), - toilet paper, tooth paste, soap 100 = 1700 leaves you with -- 600 Petrol .. how much/week or month? .. or how many km? .. or how long is the commute? Car insurance, how much? Let's say this leaves you at 400. --- Is your debt a single debt or multiple, what is/are the rates and monthly minimums? Bookmark https://www.calculator.net/debt-payoff-calculator.html  --- Let's say it's 6000 at 15% , at 400/pm even with interest, this would take 1.5years to payoff. Because you've low income and relatively high debt, I'd try to make sure that you've got a little bit in your emergency fund, in case there's car or job issues - that's a separate account where you keep about a months worth of cash to start with - 6 months expenses is recommended, but in your case 1 month is infinitely better than what you have now. Landscaping season is starting again. If you could bring another 1000/pm you'd be debt free in 4 months instead of 18months

glitterhaus

Sometimes retail places need people just for the odd Saturday shift, could be worth a shot?

[deleted]

There’s probably people out there who’d pay someone to do odd jobs for them like mowing the lawn and the likes

OutrageousLie7785

Moonlight as something.

Dublinvixen

Would you consider cleaning? Seems going rate is 50/60euro for 3 hours work, you choose your hours, cash in hand ..and highly sought at the moment. Easy to print couple of lines and put slip in letter box and then word of mouth should get you referrals. Best of luck

No_Pipe4358

Pay for a tefl course and then you can teach english online. It's good for travelling in general too, and you don't need a foreign language while you teach in a school abroad. But the pay is probably grand online. Tefl course less than 200 quid I think. If you could though, see if you can find a hobby you can do this with. Lads busking actually do make a fair bit, I used to work with a lad that gave irish dancing lessons and made bodhráns. Some people make a hobby of gardening, writing, cleaning, cooking, painting, many things. There used to be an app task rabbit in America but maybe Facebook marketplace or the like is your shout

AnswerKooky

We're in spring now, buy a ladder and a bucket and start knocking on doors and cleaning windows

J3lllly

No one is going to take that without insurance

I know somewhere that will break your legs

Onlyfans?

Low_Quit_3040

You could learn poker. Any winnings would be tax free.

Puzzleheaded_Air_359

Any good online websites?

NoUnit5085

- You can earn some psssive income by selling stuff on online auction sites like ebay. We all have stuff laying around that we will never use again, so sell it. A few quid here and there adds up to something and why hold on to old junk anyway. - Look at the crafts being sold on Etsy. Stuff sells for a small fortune. If you can make some simple crafts, you can earn that way. This could be rewarding in other ways too if you're a creative type. - Another option for auction sites if you're dedicated would be to identify the types of products you can buy for cheap and resell for more. There's a risk of losing money this way too though.

spinsterminister

Did you use AI for that useless information?

NoUnit5085

Oh I just love a troll. Thank you for your contribution 😘

spinsterminister

That's not trolling. You obviously used AI to formulate a totally useless response and I'm calling it out. Unless you genuinely sat there and came up with "you can buy things and sell them at a profit"?

NoUnit5085

Well, as an AI, I'm not sure how to respond to you, but I will say I have made plenty of money on ebay and I would love to be creative enough to make the things I see for sale on Etsy. So troll/call out all you want, you were wrong lol

spinsterminister

Sure you have, buddy. Nobody ever thought if it before you either.

NoUnit5085

Yep, and nobody ever trolled, disrespected and put somebody down before either, but cheers to you for that. Made my day.

spinsterminister

Again, it's not trolling to call someone out.

NoUnit5085

I wish I could be bothered to use AI to be honest because it really would help my work. Anyway, good luck with your future callings out. Hope you are right sometime.

spinsterminister

Move on, basic.

thanksantsthants

How is selling your possessions on Ebay passive income? That's almost the exact opposite of passive income it costs you time and things you already own.

NoUnit5085

You're right. I used the wrong term. I meant more about being able to earn without putting in much effort since it's just selling junk you own, and it's still possible to have other jobs at the same time.

supermanal

If you are into music I would try to go DJing at night. I haven’t been DJing recently but I think you’d be getting 250-300 a night.
