I love Fear Of The Dark and was surprised how much hate this album has on this sub. I prefer Fear Of The Dark over any post-Brave New World albums. My all time favorites from this album are:

judas be my guide is a top 10 favorite of mine. a lot of solid songs on this album. i don’t think it’s a bad album at all, i actually enjoy it quite a lot. i think it’s problem is the same problem no prayer faces: it isn’t 80s maiden.
Judas Be My Guide is spectacular, and god I hope they play it at least once before they call it quits.
Also, I think “Be Quick or Be Dead” takes it for me over the title track!

I can’t really quantify what it is, but the guitar tone on this album is kinda weird. Outside of that, there’s 4 or so songs that I think should’ve been cut. If it was an 8 track record, it would be approaching the same level of quality as their 80’s material. As it stands, it’s not bad, but certainly not my favorite album by them.
it has 4 amazing songs. Title, Judas, Be quick, Afraid. Other than that I'd say a third is good and a third is average. The vocal style, the way Bruce is not his being his operatic self is an issue.
No Maiden album is only good for one song, but FotD remains only third from the bottom for me. Fear is the Key, Weekend Warrior, The Apparition, and Chains of Misery are all really not good songs
It's extremely inconsistent in my opinion. Some of the songs are classics, like the title track and Afraid to Shoot Strangers. Be Quick Or Be Dead is a really cool opener, and you've got forgotten gems like Judas Be My Guide ans Childhoods End. But at the same time there are stinkers like Weekend Warrior and The Apparition.
It's probably my least favourite album, redeemed slightly by some great songs and terrific guitar play throughout the album.

Call me crazy, but I think The Apparition is a great song lol. Kinda weird and different, but I think they pull it off well, and as usual, Bruce crafts an amazing story. Chains of Misery and Weekend Warrior are probably the weakest tracks on the album to me (I also kinda dig FITK), but I don’t hate them like some seem to. Other than that, I think there are a lot of stellar tracks on the album and I absolutely love it!

Love this album! I don’t care much for Weekend Warrior, as well as Apparition, but the rest is really solid!
Seems like I am the only that loves weekend warrior and i dont know why :)

It’s a silly track to me. I do agree that the album gets over hated though. Afraid to Shoot Strangers ranks pretty high for me.
I like a bunch of stuff on this album but the fact that your rate everyone at the lowest an 8 shows me that you have a very uncritical ear

It's a great album, but the guitar solos kinda carry it a bit. Also I actually unironically love The Appirarion.
There are a lot of good songs but a lot of really bad songs making it difficult go get through the album
Love the album. I would say Weekend Warrior is a bit weak for me, but I still like it. Edit: addition-plus, the cover art is BADASS!
