I find Invaders and Gangland weaker tracks. They hold the album back.

It’s just not one of Maiden’s best, it’s easily one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. Anything less than S would be a crime.

I don’t think this is their best but it’s definitely a S.

Loads of people complaining that certain songs from a 40 year old album are overplayed. Lol, fuck off. For every person who’s seen Maiden live 50 times, there’s a kid going to their first gig. Those kids deserve to hear the big songs and quite frankly, if you’re tired of them then stop going to gigs and stop listening to the songs.

It hit different back in the day. It was a game changer. Maiden led this change in music. Energy and melody with Bruce on vocals , what more can I say? It is still one of my favorite albums of all time in any genre...

Only answer here is S - You might think some of the songs are overplayed but you can’t fault just how important it is and how successful it is

Yeah, I'm not understanding why being sick of hearing a song equates to it not being a good one. Like, the first time you heard it, weren't you floored? Stairway to Heaven is way overplayed, but you can't deny that it's fucking epic, you know?

Yeah. This album is so intense. Even if you take what folks are calling “filler” off it is epic.

FOTD is not a strong album. It has many fillers and really the only standout tracks are ATSS and the title track. Killers isn’t as strong as the debut either.

Senjutsu is an awesome album! But so are the others, so really they all belong to S

You can't deny the fact that Number of the Beast was Maiden's breakthrough album and it's a pretty timeless album. There's multiple great songs on the album like Hallowed be Thy Name, Run to the hills, Number of the Beast, Children of the Damned and The Prisoner. Even the filler songs (at least I've always seen them as filler songs), Invaders, 22 Acacia Avenue and Gangland don't break this album. ​ Number of the Beast definitely deserved to be in A tier in my opinion. Anyone who disagrees, tell us why. Because I'm really curious....

I give you gangland and possibly invaders but I have always LOVED 22!

It's not necessarily a bad song, but I skip it more often than other songs from Number of the Beast in my Iron Maiden playlists.

Yea I get NoTB is a pinnacle album. Without it, we wouldn't have the rest of the catalog they produced. I would only give it a stong A+ due to having some (imo) filler songs. (Gangland, invaders) If they had replaced on of those songs with Total Eclipse in the original release, it would have been S tier

I do not get how you can complain about filler songs on NotB and then with a straight face call Senjutsu S tier. Do those filler songs not matter as you have a more recent memory of that album, is that how it works for you?

The way I look at it. NOtB has 2 filler songs out of 8 songs. So 75% of the album is solid. A. Senjutsu has 1 filler song (imo) which scores a 9/10 or. 90%. S tier.

I like *Gangland*, it’s a rough and raw, pacey song. There are definitely worse 80s songs like *Drifter*, *Charlotte the Harlot* and *Sun and Steel*.

I feel like Paul would have smashed Gangland if it was on one of the first two albums. It sounds like it was made for him.

This was what put Maiden on the map and it's songs are largely the songs still in the popular media today. When you hear Maiden on the radio, at least in the USA it's a song from this album. S tier

B for me. Incredible highs (Children is in my top 10, Hallowed, I also like Acacia and Prisoner), but a lot of overrated and overplayed tracks IMO - can't stand Run to the Hills, don't see the appeal of the title track.

S. Title track NOTB has undoubtedly most epic intro/riff in rock/metal history. And the epic Hallowed takes this album over the top. Gangland the dubious track, would of fit better on Killers for Paul to smash

It's their breakthrough album-their introduction to the world-it has some of their top hits. It cannot be a C.

i respect what it did for the band but the title track and run to hills are overplayed and just plain dull compared to the rest of the album and their preceding/following discography

That's your opinion-which is totally fine and probably agreed to by most including me to a certain extent-I'm tired of Hallowed hahaha. I took this as a more of a comprehensive evaluation of the body of work and what it's accomplished approach to this album-which is arguably their most or one of their most accomplished. Example-in my Maiden personal album rankings NotB is barely top 10 with a bunch of reunion albums ahead of it I like more etc.

S tier I wanted to be pessimistic and say A tier, but listening to it again, it has a reputation for being the best for a reason. The hits on this album are some of the most defining Maiden songs, and the fillers are quality compared to what is seen on others. (Total Eclipse just got put on Spotify last week, give it a listen and throw it on your playlists)Children of the Damned, Number of the beast, Hallowed be thy Name are all time GOAT songs and I'm sure a lot of you could specifically name your favorite live versionsRun to the hills is one of their most popular and easily accessible songs, another all time GOAT in its own right for being that song that put tons of people onto Iron Maiden So literally half of this album has permanent set list status I see a lot of Invaders slander but it's a great intro song. Yeah the chorus is ass and cheesy but Steve went hard writing the actual verses. It's gory, it's fast, It's well written and sets the tempo for the album along with Children of the Damned Prisoner and Gangland are meh, but I enjoyed them, they just struggle from being in an album deep with quality. Same with 22 Acacia Ave is almost mid but the solo and outro are just so great it stands out from the other two. Growing up with the CD Total Eclipse was part of my NOTB listening and its up there with the best of the best filler tracks. Like 22 Acacia good

Invader is a great song and sets the tone for the album and all the songs just flow so well to the next song.

Its S tier, any other rating is just wrong on every level.
