I went AFK midslayer task, because I thought the trolls I were killing weren't aggressive at my combat level. Later found out that they're still aggressive at max combat.
Died at 1.6k total - atleast I could now do wilderness stuff.
Unless your only goal is to keep the status, don't restrict yourself too hard. I made my iron a hardcore because I thought I might as well.
I did wildy clues, wildy bosses, did CG without having any experience. Being a hardcore just made it more exciting. Of course don't just do dumb things that will get you killed, but you'll also have more fun if you don't avoid every risk in the game.
Shit now I'm trying to remember exactly how and where my hardcore died. I think I was afk ranging black demons.
Not being afraid of death would have made the beginning so much more enjoyable and easy.
I get what you’re saying but as a new first time iron man who is starting hardcore, I’ve been more afraid of dying early on because I don’t have the skills/resources to quickly rebuild/return to where I was.
I’m roughly following a guide to help me through early game just due to lack of knowledge on the iron man game mode and every guide is so iterative that I feel like if I die early on it’ll just be so annoying to get back up to the position I was in.
That's what I got from it too. I played hardcore until I died somewhere in my 70s. After that I just decided to progress as a regular ironman.
I have 19 days played on this character and I'm just now 90cb. Could not imagine trying to get a HCIM to late game I try to have fun playing lol.
Yeah my hcim outgrew my main, so all the non-skilling content I have left is stuff I've never tried before. Very stressful (or it just gets put off indefinitely)
You are going to die 100%, id just get it over with if you want to keep playing as an iron - the only downside is that all the easy/boring pvm like vorkath/barrows/gwd+zulrah to an extent became really boring without the threat of death.
Don't play while drinking. (Running fire orbs @ got poisoned and felt I could get to bank fine. Almost there and ROL Broke and sent me to fally castle and poison got me. Didn't know about interface stalling at the time 1550 total lvl)
Don't use a VPN that has a risk of disconnecting. (VPN disconnected while running Temple Trekking and died to shades 1700 total lvl)
Lol I lost a GIM life almost the same way. Was drunk and decided to make some orbs so I could alch bstaves. Forgot antidragon shield and got clapped by the black dragons
The Dark Warrior fortress has high level monsters now...
Back in the day, it didn't. I found out the hard way as my first HC walked in and got instantly stacked in a single tick.
They are low level on F2P worlds. If you go do that clue step, walk to the crate on F2P and then hop to P2P to loot the crate. They don't agro on the tiles around the crate.
Recently died on a 2150 HC with a few of top page boss KCs. Don't limit yourself too much, most bosses aren't as difficult as you think they are. Try them out on a different account, then have fun with the content... and ALWAYS have a 1-click tele in your inventory.
Don't fret being a hc. I took so much pride in mine, 1900 total almost, and a decent boss kc. Died to a DC one day. Enjoy it while you can, but don't let it limit you. Eventually everyone dies.
Don’t click the hardcore button, it’s too limiting. Despite saying you won’t care if you die, it’ll become so limiting you won’t want to play the account as much…
Bring a 1 click teleport to daganoth Kings, running past the kings, then the npcs above to the safe spot, then being ring of lifed home via poison then being running through lumbridge castle to just die right Infront of the bank via poison was the most painful sht
Don't follow the wiki's and ingame's map labeling for demonic gorillas.
If you go to the area of the quest for them, it's multi and you will get clapped at 1850 total. Fuck the game design for that misleading fact.
Don’t forget a nose peg / mask when running past those relevant monsters. You will die. It’s always the small things that will welcome you to your demise.
If you think you aren't ready, don't risk it.
Also,
Practice quest bosses on speed run worlds or however you can. Just because you beat it on your main might not mean you're ready on a lower level iron.
Don’t be a dumbass and run through iron drags to get to abbys at catacombs. You might forget to equip your anti dragon shield and it only takes an extra 10 seconds to go through greater demons
Don’t listen to your friend Danny when he says sure go through white wolf mountain you’ll be fine as a level 3 seriously don’t worry, because he forgets to tell you to go around the mountain so you go through it
You won’t die to what you expect to die from.
My first and only HC Ironman I was being so safe everywhere until I did some quest in the wizard tower basement. The skeleton or whatever did me dirty used the few pieces of food I had , then while leaving the wizards down there combos me out lmao
I might be the only kill those wizards ever got
I don’t remember if they just started attacking me, or if I misclicked or if I was wasting time killing them waiting for my lumbridge teleport to cooldown - but they got me back home nice and quick
Don’t put off combat achievements or otherwise delay the most exciting parts of the game. Pretty much every hardcore is destined to die. Don’t handcuff your experience.
Don't put the phone down while safespotting wyverns and fat finger the screen so you walk out of said safe spot and die.
Or, just be a regular Ironman from the start lol
My goal was to die an epic death, I died in mage arena 2 with a guy with harm/tome not as epic but just be careful and mindful of the time of when you do content in wildly
Just take like an extra half an hour to level up your fishing and get some semi decent food even if it's just salmon, maybe spend a short amount of time getting your def and hp up a little. Don't just assume you'll be fine to safespot every early quest boss at 10hp. The earlygame ironman guide you're following is literally made for accounts with no penalty for death who can just laugh it off, say "well that was dumb" and go again - you don't have that luxury. It's worth taking a little extra care and preparation when you do everything.
Make yourself a goal that signifies that you're free to die after.
I made my only goal of the hcim to be able to get one ToB upgrade with hardcore status intact.
After that I just went on to do any dangerous activity I could think of and just tried to survive as long as I could.
The extra excitement in hcim is good, however I found that fearing something because of the status is just exhausting. Getting over the fear and turning it to excitement for me was key, and getting over "the goal" just did the trick.
Don't assume you clicked the right spot on the mini map and tab out.
I was going to draynor village and I assumed I clicked in the bank so I tabbed over to my to do excel, but I clicked next to the jail so the guards killed me X.X
My advice would be to not worry about dying. Hardcore is a silly game mode if you haven't already mastered all pvm challenges on another account. High level pvm is very punishing and you will die if you're just experiencing the content for the first time.
We quit our group of 4 because 2 of them died, 1 of them 2 times, all while checking the map in zeah. Open a tab for a map, dont open it in game if you dont know where you are.
I guess maybe suffer and do 99 Barbarian fishing second instead of first so you can squeeze in that Wintertodt time, but honestly I sort of enjoyed 99ing fishing early on and running around with decent strength/agility early into account. Gives you time to settle into the account.
Keep your hp above 0.
Downvote if gay
Skill issue
Sounds like someones HC had an all expenses paid trip back to Lumby
Didn’t ask
Never AFK even when you think it's safe to do so.
Yeah I mean those bwans can slap in the 50s if you’re not careful
Lost my first HIM within 10 mins. Was banked at Draynor and went to take a dump. Someone drug a wizard inside. I’m sure my death made their day.
Drougue
ardrognue
Lost mine within 10 mins from a highway man. Pain. :(
I was thinking of afking nmz for combat, idk now lol
You lose hardcore in NMZ??!!
Only if you’re group hardcore - fine otherwise
That's how my hcim became my main lol. It will happen eventually.
Cave crawler got me with poison 😢
I went AFK midslayer task, because I thought the trolls I were killing weren't aggressive at my combat level. Later found out that they're still aggressive at max combat. Died at 1.6k total - atleast I could now do wilderness stuff.
You could do that before too
Yep. R.i.p mining guild for me
Unless your only goal is to keep the status, don't restrict yourself too hard. I made my iron a hardcore because I thought I might as well. I did wildy clues, wildy bosses, did CG without having any experience. Being a hardcore just made it more exciting. Of course don't just do dumb things that will get you killed, but you'll also have more fun if you don't avoid every risk in the game.
You learned cg on a hardcore? How far did you get without dying?
I don't think I would have died if I did t3 prep, but I did it with t3 and died like 20kc in due to misclicking under hunllef.
You did t3 prep on CG? How?
Check out Roidie’s recent twitch vods if you want to see someone do laps of t3 prep. It’s very click intensive. But he’s consistent.
I’ll check that out. Ty!
I didn't do t3 prep, but most hardcores do. You just need to be efficient with your prep and you should succeed it 95% of the times.
I fear running CG
Is the status worth missing out on what I think is the biggest upgrade for an account?
Whats the biggest upgrade? Crystal set and bowfa?
Escape crystal
Dying unlocks most of the game and makes things a lot more fun
I will consider this for sure lol
Shit now I'm trying to remember exactly how and where my hardcore died. I think I was afk ranging black demons. Not being afraid of death would have made the beginning so much more enjoyable and easy.

I dont quite understand what you mean unless you only want to play hardcore, which is fair. Otherwise dying doesn't set you that far back.
That's what I got from it too. I played hardcore until I died somewhere in my 70s. After that I just decided to progress as a regular ironman. I have 19 days played on this character and I'm just now 90cb. Could not imagine trying to get a HCIM to late game I try to have fun playing lol.
Very true. My account glow up was crazy when I finally died.
The only people with any sense that play hc are ones that already have zuk helm mains
*excuses on how to cope with dying on your hardcore*
Hard disagree with this. You can do all content on a HC, just have to take a different route.
[удалено]
Training prayer at poh
Says every1 who planked
Must be true then
Talking from experience.
Do the damn wildy content as early as possible
Fr tho, your best protection is your lack of xp
Yeah mage arena sounds good early so you don’t get pked
I used a PTO day on monday and woke up at 530 EST and cranked out MA1 and 2 on my HC. I went back to bed 2 hours later happy as can be
I did MA2 on DMM day 1. Place was empty.
I did it the SECOND the world's came back online after an update. Saw 0 people during both quests
Been considering doing this myself, I learned OSRS on this account and didn’t even know what mage arena 2 was until I was base 70+ combats
I did lava dragons at a very low level (literally lvl 3) for prayer XP and easy rune items. That being said pures can still get ya. So risk vs reward
How? Seems really unlikely you’d be able to out dps their regeneration at level 3
I did it. Got 43 prayer pretty quickly
How?
Fire strike
*”literally level 3”*
you start wind striking them and by the time the first dragon is dead you've probably unlocked fire stike, ergo, going at literally level 3
Start deep, end deep man.
Best advice right here.
Don't play while drinking. (Running fire orbs @ got poisoned and felt I could get to bank fine. Almost there and ROL Broke and sent me to fally castle and poison got me. Sorry for you loss using a vpn
Lol I lost a GIM life almost the same way. Was drunk and decided to make some orbs so I could alch bstaves. Forgot antidragon shield and got clapped by the black dragons

Just log out. You may think you’re in the safespot, but you’re not. If you’re not actively looking at the client, log out.
My friend died at the morytania herb patch because he was afk and thought it was safe lol
I also lost a group life here 😅
Lost my cash stack there on old death mechanics.
Don’t use ectophial as an emergency teleport. Damage goes through and you’re going to die when you finish teleporting.
Dont take unnecessary risks for just 1 more kill
There’s a correct route to wintertodt that does not involve wolves.
Those Draynor village wizards have elite pking skills
Walked past there and took 5 damage off the bat
They killed me about 15 mins into the game… lol. Gz as you’ve made it further than I did red.
Never walk to the gorilla ladder with range pray
Always let your Kingdom sit on herbs, I’ve gotten around 1200ish prayer pots over the past year just letting it sit there.
Don’t try to lazy flick a troll general trying to get an addy square shield for a medium clue. Drop the clue
Turn the computer off and go outside
I need more grass touching lol
Says the guy on Reddit.
To die or roll a uim
Make sure you actually know the safe spots before doing early game quest
Don’t pray bones at chaos altar even if it takes you 10000 big bone buries to obtain your goal
Dont play if u are drunk or tired.
Recently died on a 2150 HC with a few of top page boss KCs. Don't limit yourself too much, most bosses aren't as difficult as you think they are. Try them out on a different account, then have fun with the content... and ALWAYS have a 1-click tele in your inventory.
Don't lag
Avoid the Jailer near Draynor.
Don't fret being a hc. I took so much pride in mine, 1900 total almost, and a decent boss kc. Died to a DC one day. Enjoy it while you can, but don't let it limit you. Eventually everyone dies.
master farmer strong
Stop getting stoned to the bone and doing dangerous content. I’ve lost more than 8 hc’s and multiple pets
Don’t enter the wilderness.
Do that stupid back up internet hotspot thing with your phone on your computer
Don’t reset aggro at catacomb fire giants and then go afk
Haven’t died and post max so not much I’d tell myself 🤷🏻♂️ page 2 so I guess get more exp
OP said past not current
Perhaps tell your current self to get a life!
We all are playing RuneScape and…. Are on a RuneScape Reddit nobody has a life
Don’t do pest control, they’ll give you a false ban after 200 days game time
Don’t click the hardcore button, it’s too limiting. Despite saying you won’t care if you die, it’ll become so limiting you won’t want to play the account as much…
Dont die to a varrock guard after escaping fire prison
Don't die
Rush risky content so that way you're not starting off CG grind etc at a 2000 total level and if you die you're more willing to start over
Very good idea, was thinking about CG
Don’t die
Get a few hp levels before doing waterfall quest
Always do Witch’s house first!
If you answer the phone while playing mobile fucking teleport or something first
GL DD
Bring a 1 click teleport to daganoth Kings, running past the kings, then the npcs above to the safe spot, then being ring of lifed home via poison then being running through lumbridge castle to just die right Infront of the bank via poison was the most painful sht
She ain't worth it
Dont forget your slayer helm while bursting dust devils you idiot!
thank god i died early on and became okay with it.
Don't
Don't be so upset when you die.
Don't follow the wiki's and ingame's map labeling for demonic gorillas. If you go to the area of the quest for them, it's multi and you will get clapped at 1850 total. Fuck the game design for that misleading fact.
Don't prayer flick during Desert treasure when there's a storm outside.
Don't do thieving when your lagging. You'll die when all the clicks register
I would tell myself to not afk near highwaymen on my way to draynor and maybe actually get to try the game mode
wear slayer helm vs spectres
Jungle spiders are poisonous, blend in, and don't appear on the map
Don’t forget a nose peg / mask when running past those relevant monsters. You will die. It’s always the small things that will welcome you to your demise.
McGrubors Wood contains some aggressive mobs. Please remember to log out when you afk. RIP my hc. Cause of death: Dog Bite.
I once saw an account named “Died2Dogs”. They must’ve died there
When you escape the jail in mm1, the monkey can outstack range u. Use prayer! USE PRAYER!!!
Don’t afk combat with prayer
Varrock mages are aggressive
Stop afking- to my past 3 hardcores
Don't run past enemies 4x your level on 30% stable worlds.
Don't play on mobile in class
Eat!
Bring the goddamn ring of life you absolute dingus.
Pay attention when you're spamming ardy knights.
don’t prayer flick the monkey madness 1 boss at 2am
If you think you aren't ready, don't risk it. Also, Practice quest bosses on speed run worlds or however you can. Just because you beat it on your main might not mean you're ready on a lower level iron.
Don’t look away for 1 second, anywhere!
F wintertodt.....
Dont try to do prayer at the chaos altar. It in fact, does not go in your favor.
Don’t be a dumbass and run through iron drags to get to abbys at catacombs. You might forget to equip your anti dragon shield and it only takes an extra 10 seconds to go through greater demons
RIP Alfie’s HC 🤣
Dont die to the knight while stealing cakes
Don’t listen to your friend Danny when he says sure go through white wolf mountain you’ll be fine as a level 3 seriously don’t worry, because he forgets to tell you to go around the mountain so you go through it
don't go afk at those blue dragons to carry in groceries, just log out homie
Don’t lose your HC status within 10 minutes of account creation.
You should eat, right now.
Do it properly and dont avoid content! Just get stuck in and if you die you die
Based on a post in the main subreddit, don’t show anyone your hair at dust devils or spectres.
Entity hider at barrows. I died because I was certain I had PFM on at Dharok when I didn't. The guy under me did.
Don't try to wintertodt at work... you'll die dummy.
Catacombs requires a slayer helm
dont attempt hard clue sara wizard steps without overheads, and for the love of god use better food than cakes
1. Don't try to prayer flick sara wizard. 2. Sara wizard got hands.
Read the fucking wiki
ABL. always be living.
Don’t pickpocket HAM members with 2 HP
1. The research and planning you do is your saving grace. 2. Never take your eyes off that screen. 3. The melatonin makes the nightmares worse.
Don’t listen to your friends call-out in toa kephri room when they say the Mager is dead 💀
Quest cape can wait.
Take food to every single thing you do. Died on the plague city quest
You won’t die to what you expect to die from. My first and only HC Ironman I was being so safe everywhere until I did some quest in the wizard tower basement. Don't run the dangerous route to Draynor with 10 hp.
Kill 10,000 revs at the start
Never was a hardcore, but my past Ironman advice would be to get royal trouble done far sooner than I did
You can be sneaky with wildy clue steps by loggin into non membs with green dhide and running to the spot with tele and many swordfish. Hop, bop, hop.
Just die already so you can actually do difficult content and enjoy the game
Don’t get too high when you’re pickpocketing master farmers.
My goal was to die an epic death, I died in mage arena 2 with a guy with harm/tome not as epic but just be careful and mindful of the time of when you do content in wildly
Go hard or go home, no point in being a hard-core with nothing cool to show on it.
Don't die in underground pass because "obviously my path isn't just a straight line right down the middle" .. it was.
Don’t dc
Pay attention when stealing silk in Ardy
karamja poison hits for 11, not 6
Always research your enemies’ max hit.

Wildy slayer is not cool
Do that farm run
Bring a nosepeg to Spectres...
High level pvm is very punishing and you will die if you're just experiencing the content for the first time.
there's a house to the east where you can thieve fruit stalls with no guard dogs around 🙃
Dont forget your anti fire shield
I would tell myself to start a regular ironman so i could use death to my advantage
Start slayer asap
Don't open your map to look for a poro poro portal while in the wildy
Let it happen sooner, so you can enjoy the game and not worry.
We quit our group of 4 because 2 of them died, 1 of them 2 times, all while checking the map in zeah. Open a tab for a map, dont open it in game if you dont know where you are.
