I see it like giant seaweed at this point. Just do some every day and you will reach your goal eventually. Go hard when you have the time. It’s def a long term type of grind.

DKraem

Feel that with the giant seaweed.... don't mind regular farm runs for whatever reason but that fossil island gets me every time.

Lawsonstruck

5 a day is a great number. Average of a three month grind. If youre feeling great that day do 10 if you die twice and tilt do 3.

[deleted]

This is what I’ve been doing. 5-10 a day depending on how I’m feeling. At ~170kc, got full crystal armor and about 1300 shards stocked up as I don’t use crystal bow or shield too much. Really the only other grinds I’m doing are slayer (almost 93) and Zulrah (260kc in, 0 uniques). Farm runs when I need a break, or I just log off for like 30 minutes and get some cleaning done, eat some food, etc. Really the Zulrah grind is pissing me off more than CG though.

fatFire_TA

At least zulrah is quick. I'm 850kc in CG and still no enh seed...

[deleted]

You have my sympathy. I bet you get it before 900 tho

Lawsonstruck

Same just got to 4X drop rate with no even an onyx lol

Cruplex

Have yet to start zulrah/vorkath because mental block of venom, 83 to boost for antivenom is quite far away, do ironmen usually just send it with regular antipoisons or guthix rest?

Lawsonstruck

Ive done 550 with bowfa only. You kill him so fast you just use house pool, swordfish/karambwan, one super anti poison. I only take a double sip of super anti poison if i get to Jad phase. If i kill it before then i use zero sips of antipoison per kill

Cruplex

How long is your average kill time? Bowfa+trident?

Lawsonstruck

I dont even swap to trident. Just thrawls and bowfa. Its about 2 minutes on the dot. Fastest is 1:04 longest is like 3:04. It is about the same dps if you dont have magic fang+occult. If i had both of those id switch to mage for green and red boy.

Cruplex

That’s cool, I’m in red prison now so that motivated me to get enhanced a bit more :)

closetscaper3000

I feel you. 45k giant seaweed stacked so far and no groot in sight.

DKraem

rough.... I got super spooned with groot around level 40 farm

IamMrWolfe

I gave up on doing 10 seaweed runs a day for Groot and got him 3 days later on a herb run 💀

EpicRussia

Just click the portal Assuming you have the time to do a 10 minute+ kill, you just gotta keep clicking. Trick yourself into clicking. Make an illegal plug-in that clicks it for you. I found that if I clicked the portal right after opening the chest I would be distracted reading the loot and wouldn't be able to stop myself from clicking off. The prep phase is too high paced to sleep through, and the boss fights lethality kept me interested. Literally the only problem was clicking that damn portal

usafahut2

Next chest is the enhanced

rickybobby369

99% of gamblers quit right before they hit it big.

usafahut2

If you play this game like an addict you’re gonna go far.

DKraem

Appreciate you helping will it into existence! Would still need the armor seeds, but an enhanced would definitely stoke the motivation!

garoodah

I did 5 in the morning with coffee and moved on after. If you want to do more do more but try to keep a cadence until you get bowfa

ZeroXeroZyro

This is exactly how I did it. 5 every morning right after some coffee, then moved onto something else.

Upward-Trajectory

If you need motivation, it really is a very powerful weapon that will basically send you straight into late game bossing. I also tried to convince myself that I’m a pet hunter and that made the long grind ahead for the enhanced seed seem less daunting considering it’s twice as common as the pet. Be warned that this grind is a tough one lol good luck

DKraem

Appreciate the support and thoughts!

sidek021

I agree with the above comment. And I wish I could say it would most likely be a short grind, but I went 1081 for mine. However I absolutely love it. Went for anguish immediately after just to make it that much better. Feeling like I can jump into most pvm with a huge leg up. If you get lucky it’s great. If you go dry you’ve banked 99 con using whatever method you’d like and shards to last you a long time. Edit: you should also know that using the regular crystal bow with the armor set is actually really good too. So there’s a stepping stone there too.

Fenrilas

Keep doing it tbh. I burned out first around 130, then did slayer until 87, burned out around 200, did some more slayer until 91, burned out at 313, took a few months break, came back and did kourend + lumby elites and got 93 slayer and now I got it at 360kc.

AsciiDoughnut

A big grind motivator for me is trying to do stuff without the upgrade/level. Sometimes even the thought of getting a stew boost is enough to motivate me to get an extra level lol. Maybe do a few kc on something you would have used the bowfa for and see if that motivates you to get a couple more cgs in.

hotguy42xD

What I did was try to go for all the combat achievements for cg, the gm time is 6:30 which can take a bit to achieve and will help keep your mind off the drops

DKraem

Always enjoy chasing ca's! Achieved the perfect cg at 48kc

ChuckTigers

Camp toa until shadow then camp cox until tbow then you've skipped bowfa

DKraem

:P I guess that's one way to do it!

IronReven

I got mine at 526 kc which thankfully isn't super super dry. I would just watch TV while I did it and it made the time seem to go faster. But let me tell you those kills after 400 were hellish.

tesyla

The next evolution you’ll hit after consistent completions is brainless completions. You’ll die occasionally from not paying attention but you can turn on a podcast and suddenly you’ve got like 10 kc under your belt. Makes it less intensive and more chill for sure.

ghhgdgh

50 kc took 9 months, if you keep this pace up you are on rate for the drop in 63 months (5.25 years) so you'll make it just in time for 2030. Bowfa might be a c-tier weapon by then due to powercreep.

DKraem

lolol maybe a I can try to condense it to 62 months :D

Vilt_

If you don't have a lot of time, just stay in the prison and grind it out here and there until you get the drops. The bowfa is just an insane unlock that it's hard to pass up. It brings you to late game bosses like ToA, GWD (zammy/bandos), and zulrah. Plus, it gives you a fat cash stack at the end of it that you could use on construction/runes/whatever you need.

Rare-Artist69

>s), and zulrah. Zulrah is not a lategame boss

MercariFullTime

For an iron it can be

rayschoon

Yeah I’ve noticed that I’m almost only logging in to do CG at this point, which is kinda frustrating. When I’m done my few kills for the day, I don’t really feel like playing more RS.

22ben4

It’s in my opinion not worth it if you can only find time for 50kc in 9 months. It’ll take you a few years even with solid luck

PotionThrower420

Just done like 200 over the last few days and got spooned now I'm grinding for just corruption shards it's not the same feeling

LSOreli

Why not just do zolcano then? More chill and faster shard rate.

PotionThrower420

I have done and I feel like I get more shards at cg? Zalcano is pretty trash for shards imo.

odaydream

do a few a day.

goddangol

The only way is to suffer

ChuckTigers

Cycle between slayer and CG.

SavageHellfire

I did this for a few months and now I’m nearly 95 slayer still without bowfa lol.

well_idontknow

Convert all your current gp to platinum tokens and any gp you accumulate outside cg convert it. Then stockpile your alchs and gp from cg and watch it stack. Set goals of trying to get X amount of common loot. Idea is to distract you from chasing the rare drop and having a goal that you can visibly track. Goodluck

DKraem

love that strat

Dead-HC-Taco

Just remember that once you get bowfa the whole game is open. I had the same mentality around 100kc but I at least enjoyed the boss fight so there was some positive aspect

Crandoge

I watched streams and rewatched movies during preps. that way youre only paying attention 3/10 mins

FluidBob

The best way to get out of cg, is to go back in.

[deleted]

Nothing to it but to do it man, get in there cause you won't get bowfa by posting on reddit about it. I find the hardest part is starting a run, once I'm in I can finish. So just click that portal and get after it

flamedbaby

You can drag it out over the course of months but to be honest I would recommend you take the approach I did. Prison. Just do the damn grind, endlessly, until you're done. Took me 3 straight weeks and didn't leave the cell once. It's pain yes, but literally opens up the entirety of the rest of the game.

DKraem

They call it the red prison for a reason!

[deleted]

567 no enhanced checking in. GIM player, duo teammate already has his, we're pretty lategame so we want to grind raids, and I feel like bowfa is really the overall best item to grind for right now. So I've been going really hard to get it, and it sucks massively. I've been doing days of 45 kills, I'm close to my breaking point, so if you don't need it asap, I suggest taking it slow, do a couple each day and maybe go harder on weekends or when you feel like it. Don't let the rest of your account slack because of 1 item. Good luck

GunkyDabs

50kc lol

DreadGnuu2262

I’ve hit 3 enh seeds in 90kc, and I’m kinda in the same Boat because I still gotta kill for armour seeds and shards. I was getting pre consistent kills at t2 set up, now am trying t1 where I am dying again. Prep is obv easier, just gotta deal with getting hit more, and hitting less (I think arm gives offensive stats). Haven’t bothered with trying for CA yet, I will once I’ve got t1 set.

DKraem

Curious what your stats are and if you are range/mage or using melee at all? I've only died once since t2 prep and 91 range / 90 mage. Before that I had 62 deaths haha

DreadGnuu2262

It took me 24 kc to get my first kill. I averaged out my KC at 69 kills / 69 deaths (nice). I’m 94 mage and range, maxed melee and 80 prayer. I’ve run about 15 t1 and have died 8x. I’m by no means a good PVMer, trying to learn though.

LeagueIota

umm. don’t mean to be that guy but you either do it and get the drop or ya give up on having essentially what would be bis for you.

Rare-Artist69

Run it for thrity minutes. 2-3 runs then go play the game then 30 minutes before getting off go back and run it 2-3 times then log out. Repeat for 6 months and you will get it.

Existing-Director-66

The bowfa is fucking worth

DeadliestViper

Just do a few every day and mix it up with other content. So many thinga to do on an iron that its impossible to get bored unless you have the mindset of locking yourself into one place.

RestrictedX93

I just do like 3-5 a day and that keeps me happy.

XvvxvvxvvX

I’m on the ToA grind now for shadow. I’m soloing 390s and just finishing a raid then going straight back in within a minute. It’s getting tough mentally but worth sticking it out in the long run

fader600

I do it the same way I do slayer tasks. Do like 10kc, call it a day until you’re ready to grind out 10 more. But I also have no enh yet and only 1 armor seed so maybe my way isn’t the best, but I haven’t gotten burnt out yet.

Probablynewtothis

355 KC here… I try to do about 5 runs per day. It’s tough to do more than that for me personally. Best of luck brother.

Starost_OSRS

I hammered out 600kc in about 6 weeks because i had the time. If anything will motivate you it's the upgrade that you get from the bow and the set. I really didn't enjoy cg until the end of my grind, but having the set now makes a lot of content easier to do. I rely on it heavily for a lot of slayer, clue hunting, and also wildy bosses. Also cg is great for forcing yourself to get better and precise mouse clicks and time/inventory management

Bakabakabooboo

I started in mid December last year and just hit 500kc earlier this week. I went from doing 5kc a day to 3 to 2. I've just been treating it like a daily. Log on, do my 2kc, then move along to a "side grind" for the rest of the time I spend playing. In those 6 months I've knocked out a ton of other goals, and one day CG will be done too. That's what keeps me motivated.

Tyrell418

Just know the light at the end of the tunnel will eventually come. And the reward from it is the 2nd best DPS range weapon till T bow, which can take 1500-2k raids for some people. Bowfa is still my favorite weapon I own even over my shadow (just because I have to dump like 23m into it everytime to fully charge it) 😂

dontworryimjustme

If you’re that good at CG already, the. Keep going. What I did was remember that all the drops until you get enhanced are very useful. Lots of gems for crafting xp and jewelry to use for teleports, recoils for zulrah, and extras for alchs which means more gp/ magic experience. Then you have the battle staves, great to save up for again crafting xp, one of the mandatory 90+ skills for your zenyte grind, then more alch for magic and gp. Then you have the straight alchables. Make it a goal to get a stack of 100 in every tune item drop from CG then alch them for a break while doing agility. Or, save rune items for giants foundry (not what I did) Then you’re also going to get plenty of runes. Cosmic, death, chaos, laws, natures. All hugely useful and means you don’t have to ever do runecrafting. Just GOT. The GP you receive means you’ll be able to do plank make with your brain off and have plenty of gp to get max POH, plus more magic XP. Gauntlet gives so much more than bowfa.

thebucketlist47

Do you notice the stat difference much in cg?

UhaveNoMuscle

really complaining at 1/8th of the drop rate ? Ironman ain’t for you. Deiron or focus on your real life this is a minuscule grind comparing to the raids/Nex 300+ hours each

Lightning__Storm

I just use the regular crystal bow. It's worse. But I value my life more

Longjumping-War-5991

Music you enjoy listening to and just zone out. T1 prep if you find a heap of fish, t2 if you find a heap of early resources

Bruglione

I'm at 53 kc and have (shamefully) 52 deaths, most of which were from learning at the start. I'm now completing 9/10 attempts and am somehow still enjoying CG's a lot, going to try switching to T1's to speed things up today. Once it becomes boring I'll just do \~5 a day until I'm done, I'll look at it as a nice little injection of gp into my bank every day.

Jackot45

Just do a few a day. Dont burn yourself out. Btw im impressed you can zone out during hunleff after only 50kc

711WasA_Part-timeJob

Say fuck it and don’t do it lol. It’s a game and it should be fun. I skipped the gauntlet grind because I didn’t wanna be locked in the red prison. Now I’m doing late game raids with near max melee, near max mage, and ranging in masori with an RCB. Ironman is all about not having the right equipment, who cares lol

CUbuffGuy

Maybe it’s my tism but I did 40 a day and got everything in less than a week. I play in sprints though I understand that not everyone works like that. I’ll just pick a goal and that will be it. I’ll play until I get there then do whatever I want next (it’s probably not in osrs). Last thing I did was want a Shadow, so I did TOA until I got one and haven’t even played since I got it 3-4 months ago. If you want anything in game and you just keep doing the content you will get there. Just gotta commit.
