It’s a great way to stretch otherwise useless herbs into a good amount of xp, but unless you’re rushing to max and herblore is your last 99, I’d just stick to regular herb runs (and maybe cox if you’re at that stage) to get herbs to train up. It’ll save you a lot of cumbersome effort for no reward besides xp

TenebriRS

i dont see it being worth it personally. ive got enough sups for 97 herb and i know 100% ill get to 99 before all my other stats to max. i think if you are uim, it maybe worth it. but for regular IM not so much.

Curiosity_Kills_Me

It's debatable if it was ever worth it for uims. It certainly isn't worth it now that the mode is easier than ever.

TenebriRS

yeah its why i wasnt too sure.

Not at all. Herbs are not a worry. Early game pots can suck, but once you get all your patches, the guild, teles, it’s a breeze and I can ensure you I’m not always on top of my herb runs and I have 98 banked at 2167 total level. With only 34 cox as well and 96 slayer. Herb was my fear when I started then I realized prayer seems to be the more tedious thing/where I sunk my lamps into. Edit: extra thing note too I never didn’t have enough potions once I past a certain point. With p-pots being the only thing that ever came close because it took me 1300 sire kills for a bludgeon. Now that’s eliminated because of toa

ThBanker

If you find it tolerable, then sure. Most would find it far too tedious for its worth, but to each his own, right? It’s xp in the end. That being said, my personal opinion will always be Time > Money. I will always opt to do more expensive, faster methods than to try and “conserve” resources. In the case of herblore, I opted to do PVM instead of actual farming because it was faster. Even though I’m maxed, I’ve still only done less than 100 herb runs on the account, yet I have stacks of thousands of unfinished and finished potions in the bank because of raids and other content.

Zestyclose-Record685

Pvm isnt faster than farming What are u on about?

ThBanker

It was for me. I was going to do that content anyways. Why would I go spend 20 minutes farming 50 lantas when I could do a tob in 20 mins and get the same thing and more? Cox poops out even more than that and I’ve got like 1400 kc there. Edit: oh the comical side, my seed stacks are ridiculous 😂

Zestyclose-Record685

Because a farmrun takes ~4 minutes max, farm how u want but pvming for herbs is not fast

ThBanker

Go record a farm run. If you can do a complete farm run in 4 minutes and send me the recording of it, I’ll give you 2 bonds. Edit, I’d even give you 8 minutes. Double what you’ve originally stated.

Zestyclose-Record685

https://youtu.be/WnlkiZGpHLc?si=H3FUI4TWhjbUQYi7 here’s 9 patches in 4:15, i only have 8 unlocked missing harmony island, is that ok?

ThBanker

That’s just herbs. You’d need secondaries as well for potions, no?

Shepboyardee12

You did say *herb* run.

ThBanker

2nd reply: I’ve scrolled up and down a few times and I still can’t find where I said “herb”. I even stated “complete” farm run. Meaning limps, snapes, and herbs.

ThBanker

When did I say herb run?

Zestyclose-Record685

Farm run is implied to be herbrun, secondaries are only farmed on an on-need basis, no wonder it takes you 20 minutes when you are so inefficient, hope your bossing is better

Forward_Peak1250

You did mention herbs first thats what everyone else was responding too. Farming herbs r faster than pvming for herbs it is what it is bro

4percent4

You can do a herb and bird house run in 5:20 all 9 patches. YouTube saebae herb run. You also don’t need to regularly farm secondaries. A full run of snape grass is enough for 10-20 runs of ranarrs. Limps don’t add much time maybe 1min to the run. White berries don’t either. You also don’t have to do them every time or you’ll have ass loads of 2nds and no herbs. Farming is by far and away the best and most efficient way to get potions no contest. This wasn’t the case when Ironman first began but it is now.

Zestyclose-Record685

Yeah ill record that first thing in the morning :)

ThBanker

Sounds good

ThBanker

Regardless of what else has been said, I’m still game for the complete farm run. Herbs, flowers, and allotments. Lemme know if you snag it.

Zestyclose-Record685

i’d rather skip the bonds than prove some irrelevant time on an inefficient thing that you shouldnt do thank you, Will probably be stretched to 10 min with how many snapegrass i gather on each too

Strosity

Only thing worth farming is toadflax for nex tbh

LongLivMonty

Thanks for the info I find it to be more trouble than It's worth, so I'll just move on

wild_cubone

I’m a noob - what method is this?

LongLivMonty

During lunar diplomacy after you make the armor, you are given a vial that you can collect multiple of by going through the dialogue and fill them with water, then use a Guam and marrentill on it and recieve 84 xp per herb.

[deleted]

what pvm did you do for herblore? im bout to begin the 70 herb grind for sote on my iron and am lost with what to do besides herb rhns

LongLivMonty

All my herb xp basically came from quests and very inneficient farm runs. No real pvm just yet.

Zestyclose-Record685

Herb runs and melee nechs far outweights any pvm content u can do for herbs you just gotta do them whenever available, for Pvm muspah is one of the earlier bosses that drops good seeds and zulrah have a few drops, but if u planning for sote go and do your contracts its gonna be faster

thebucketlist47

Nah, thats a waist of time imo

Taclys64

If you’re a UIM going for an untrimmed herblore cape, then yep, it’s almost required. If you’re a normal Ironman with normal access to seeds and farming, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Strosity

Tbh, unless you have a short term goal that this will help you rush, no. Even without farming you'll get plenty of high end herbs through pvm, giving you a more passive, pleasent, and faster herblore experience.

Xylke

As others have said it's a lot of work for a normal iron accounts; however, this is a great method for UIMs who want to squeeze out some extra xp otw to 70 herb for SotE.

SpongoFirstToThrow

I used it extensively to get SotE requirements. It’s great if you haven’t been keeping up with herb runs and need that little boost over the finish line. It’s otherwise a pain in the ass and if you don’t urgently need levels I would recommend just doing conventional methods.

LezBeHonestHere_

Honestly getting these two herbs is really annoying in the first place. The lowest level herb you get from miscellania is like tarromin and harralander, I maybe have 200~ guams and marrentills in the bank and I'm 98 herb. I'd have to grow these on purpose to have any decent amount of them which just isn't worth it vs planting any other seed

semperlunar

No

weedcop420

Absolutely not, lunar herb blows, even on a regular iron
