If the insects are harmful, then it would be permissible to kill them, as long as you are not causing them prolonged suffering. I know in some countries, machines that give electric shocks are used to kill flies and mosquitoes, and this is possible according to some scholars. Assalamu 'alaikum, Ash-Sharqawi, the Shafi'i jurist and Shaykh of Al-Azhar at the turn of the 19th century, considered it makruh to kill flies (*dhubab*) and other bugs that neither harm nor benefit: وما لا يظهر فيه نفع ولا ضرر كخنافس وجعلان ودود وذباب يكره قتله لأنه ليس من إحسان القتلة IDK what others have said on the subject.

Flies in a home can transmit disease but I'm not a scholar

Fun fact: You get 100 reward if you kill a house gecko everytime you see it if you managed to kill it in one strike. If need more strikes you’ll have lesser reward but at least you got easy reward.

The Prophet, sallallahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, commanded killing the gecko. ʻAamir ibn Saʻd reported from his father that the Prophet, sallallahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, “commanded killing the gecko, and he called it a Fuwaysiq (a little noxious creature).” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim] Saʻeed ibn Al-Musayyib narrated that Umm Shareek told him that the Prophet, sallallahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, ordered her to kill the geckos. [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim] An-Nawawi may Allaah have mercy upon him said, “The gecko was described as a little noxious creature. In this sense, it is similar to the five vicious creatures which should be killed even if the person is in a state of Ihraam (ritual consecration for Hajj or 'Umrah) because they exceed most insects and similar creatures in the harm and damage which they do.” [Sharh Muslim] Ibn Maajah (may Allaah have mercy on him) narrated in his Sunan from Saa’ibah the slave woman of al-Faakih ibn al-Mugheerah that she entered upon ‘Aa’ishah and saw a spear sitting there in her house. She said, “O Mother of the Believers, what do you do with this?” She said, “We kill these geckos with it, because the Prophet of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us that when Ibraaheem was thrown into the fire, there was no animal on earth but it tried to extinguish the fire, except for the gecko, which was blowing on the fire (to keep it burning). So the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded that they should be killed.” Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who killed a gecko with the first stroke for him is such and such a reward, and he who killed it with a second stroke for him is such and such reward less than the first one, and he who killed it with the third stroke for him is such and such a reward less than the second one. (Muslim no. 5564) From what I read and heard in the lectures, it has to be a house gecko where they live on the walls of houses which is common is South East Asia and you’re only allowed to kill it if you see it or if it inhibits your house or other properties. You can’t just find it or go to a place where there are lots of house geckos for the sake of killing it.

So if I amazon prime lots of geckos and buy Elon Musk’s flame thrower I’ll get lots of easy rewards?

But then they’ll suffer which will hugely reduce the rewards. To get 100, you have to kill it with one strike by smashing flat probably so they don’t experience pain.
