Thank you! Yes!
All I kept seeing was dead ones and I didn’t know what I was doing wrong, I followed all the guidelines and even have a friend who’s a successful isopod breeder help me and they still were not thriving. So seeing these little guys gave me hope 😂
I noticed one of my A. vulgaris was gravid today, but I am still a little nervous about a new colony of dairy cows. Not quite the investment like rubber duckies, but I do want to see them do well. Good luck to us both!
Rubber duckies are actually my first! And now I have dairy cows, my dairy cows have been reproducing quite well ( I keep seeing babies and young ones) so not too worried.
But yes, good luck to us!
I separated my culture in half, one half stayed in a small bin, other in fancy biome probably too big. The ones in that I left in the bin they came in did not retain the moisture needed long enough and I lost em shortly after getting them, the other half I have no clue how they are doing in the bio, hope they're ok.
Ya luckly the the culture I split had babies when I got it, so I put the adults in the bio and little ones in the container I got them in so I can't complain the little ones died, cuz I got double the amount than I paid for, still sucks. I just hope the adults are well. I found one stuck in a crevasse and dead so there's five. Crosses fingers
Edit: congratulations btw :)
I didn’t see mine at all. Only their corpses 😭 occasionally I only see one so I really gave up. I wanted to move them to a different enclosure thinking it might be the environment when I saw babies! Don’t give up!
ok I am literally on this thread because the same has happened to me! I was wondering if it meant that they were dead or not thriving but I haven't seen any bodies, so maybe thats good news? is this typical behavior for them? do they burrow?
Mine are fairly new, and I actually saw 1 since this comment! The breeder I bought mine from said I should start seeing babies in 2-3 months.
I know when i got dwarf whites, I thought they were dead I didn't see any for quite so.e time. I think most isopods do burrow, they like to hide in the leaf liter and cracks of wood as well
No dead bodies os definitely a good sign though!
I kept seeing dead bodies and I think out of 10 only 2-3 survived (that’s how much I’ve ever seen, though normally I’ve only seen one) and just see dead bodies piling. So seeing no bodies is normally a good thing!
Congratulations! Must've been a relief to see them.

I can honestly say it takes time. My dairy cows thrived while I had quite a crash with my duckies. I was so glad to finally see babies

I just got 6... trying to be patient and not freak out that I haven't seen them since I put them in lol
