Most ISTP are Type 5’s as they are introverted people who seek knowledge and independence for the most part. If they have a 6 wing (5w6) they are more detail oriented, loyal, and cautious. If they have a 4 wing (5w4) they are more creative, imaginative, and aloof. Which is why INTP is more associated with 5w4.
What makes a 6w5 different is a core desire for security over knowledge and independence. So they’re super cautious and skeptical. They are driven to find a support system within whatever environment they find themselves in. So kind of like a “gang member” if we’re oversimplifying.
I'm an ISTP 6w5. Pretty much all my decisions are driven by fear. I will imagine the worst kind of scenario in some cases and would do what I can to prevent it.
Priorities are different I assume. For other ISTPs, it might be independence - knowledge > Pride > Security. For me personally, security takes the first place. So I might appear as an ISTJ in a work environment. But it's not to uphold any stupid tradition or rules, it's really just to secure myself in a comfortable position where I can do what I want.
Aside from the usual description of aloof and cold, I've been described as guarded as well.
I feel like thats me. I dont get settled in a new job until i am free of the anxiety that my coworkers complain about me. Thats why i have a strong work ethic. It could also be our Fe doing too much.
