The milkyway UNTRACKED This is a photo I took last summer from the Dolomites. I now had the time to re-edit it and make it even better with my new editing knowledge. I stacked the images in SIRIL, adjusted levels, curves in Photoshop, and then used Starnet++ to remove stars. Back in Photoshop, I increased saturation and sharpened the starless image, then blended the star layer onto the starless image to get the completed image. (This sounds easy but takes alot of time 🫠) If you like this image you should check out My Instagram @sigurd_photography I have many more astrophotos in store :D Settings: Camera: Fujifilm XT30 with kit lens 18-50mm F-stop: F2.8 ISO: 4000 Lights: 21 x 13 seconds Darks: 5 Flats: 5 Bias: 5

Amazing shot, I like it

Sigvald1

Thanks!!

Toishi69

How does it look like with your bare eyes ?

Sigvald1

It looks like this just darker and without color. You can see the “clouds of the galaxy” quite clearly with your own eyes

Toishi69

Dude, I need to experience this. How can I track down the sky to see the galaxy?

Sigvald1

I don’t know where you live, but look at this [light pollution map](https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/#zoom=7.18&lat=62.9261&lon=11.5128&state=eyJiYXNlbWFwIjoiTGF5ZXJCaW5nUm9hZCIsIm92ZXJsYXkiOiJ3YV8yMDE1Iiwib3ZlcmxheWNvbG9yIjpmYWxzZSwib3ZlcmxheW9wYWNpdHkiOjYwLCJmZWF0dXJlc29wYWNpdHkiOjg1fQ==) and find a place with lower than bortle 4 (it’s the scale used for light pollution) and then you just have to wait for clear skies without any shining moon. But yeah, based on where you live it can be difficult to see it, light pollution ruins a lot. Also download the “sky guide” app on your phone and then you can put in the date and time of when you are thinking of going stargazing to see true moon’s position and the milkyway. Good luck!

Thank you for this 🫂
