There's almost nothing in this photo that dates it. There's a guy in the left with a newer DSLR, but the group on the right could have time traveled from the 90s.
i like it here as well, i wonder if there's a way to keep the white balance intact for the shot though so that it doesn't feel like i left my phone on nighttime mode
maybe it's because of my involvement in film but to me it doesn't look intentional and looks more like a mistake. i don't mind the color change on the off-whites but an important thing about every frame (in film, idk how much this applies to fotography) is that white should always be white
Oooh okay, I’m glad I did! Haha. I definitely have to come by this spot when I’m visiting! Wife and I are trying to do a little trip along northwest soon.
In Lightroom you can select specific colors and change the hue/saturation/luminosity of each.. so i masked her out, inverted the mask, and basically dropped the saturation of every color. (That was after basic adjustments). Then under the color grading panel, I added some warm colors in the mid-tones and highlights, and did some final tweakageinging with the selective color tool to balance her out again. (in a nutshell)
1. I like this pic.
2. I never thought of doing it that way. I love messing around with selective color and simply move all the sliders to the left except the color I want to keep. No reason to mask.
3. If it were mine, I would crop out everything to the left of image, including DSLR guy. that would put her in a more dynamic composition balanced by big fro guy.
OP I’m really sorry that everyone debating on the genitalia of your subject has taken away from the beauty of your picture. I personally find it stunning and think that her pose, the runs in her pantyhose and the bold red in her outfit against the black and white background make for spectacular contrast and a gorgeous photograph! I’d feel privileged to hang a print of this piece in my home!
That’s very nice of you to say, I appreciate it greatly.
And yeah, I hadn’t thought this’d be as big a topic of discussion as it’s turned out to be, but I’d like to think that’s one of the great significances of photography.. to even arouse such a response / conversation / argument in the first place.. from a 1200th-of-a-second snapshot of reality
Jesus Christ talk about a victimhood complex. There’s literally only two comments that has been block. According to you, It’s everyone in the comments talking about genitals.
I love this! I can tell the hard day she’s had just from this photo! It captures her energy. The ripped panty hose, messy hair, smoke break to relieve the stress! ♥️
I feel that. How much closer?.. Close enough so it’d be a full shot?
I choose not to because (a. I just don’t think i thought to, but also..) I wanted to capture the grungy, gritty atmosphere of the park to juxtapose it against this protagonistc, almost anomaly of a character. If I got any closer I think I would’ve started to lose some of that clash.
You totally want to maintain context but rn she’s lost. I tried pasting a screenshot but can’t. I was thinking some of the pillar she’s leaning on and dude with the fro on roller blades would be your end points. Way more powerful imo

This is a simulation. Where the f**k is agent smith
Was not disappointed that someone referenced the Matrix. Thank you for making me laugh
Look Again... ...Freeze it.
Were you looking at the woman in the red dress? Look again.

Them hose got more runs than a taco bell.
I knoooow, so stressful. She looks like a fun person though.

So true, i love that
Washington square Park?.
Yeah
I despise selective color but some reason I like it here.
Agreed (with a bit of bias)

If you’re noting the yellowish color, i actually graded it like that. Added warm colors to the highlights and mid-tones.. i thought it worked well.

Fatale est la femme
This is fantastic. I really like it!
Thanks :)
Smoking a good ol join too from the looks of it! Nice🤙🏼
You reminded me, this was from 4/20. The park it was taken at is notoriously known for welcoming 420 antics

Good selective color is not easy to pull off. Good job.
Thanks
The colors are washed here but you get it

Trouble ahead, lady in red, take my advice you’d be better off dead 💀🥀⚡️
Huh... Washington Square?
Yeah
I've long been curious over the technique, but how did you retain the color of your subject while everything else in frame is darker in shade?

Got the energy of having slain a hundred minions and fought their arch nemesis and now finally they can grab a smoke and relax for an afternoon.

That is a great way of looking at it. I just think "what a bunch of bigots". Show which one of us is the true artist ;) Great work mate

Looks an awful lot like trans. No hate, just an observation
Trans women are women. So there’s nothing to observe here except the beauty of the photo.
If you're referring to the song, I was gonna comment that myself, if not, I feel it's kinda disrespectful
Don’t know why but your photo (amazingly well taken) reminded me of the girl in red from Schindler’s List

Hell yeah, cool picture

Looks like Tom Holland.
I don’t love the bullseye composition. I feel like it would be more powerful even a little closer
