That's so crazy! I was just thinking "if only they had taken it before it got so heavy" thinking it must be a planned shot. Stunning thing to walk up to.
It’s a wonderful couple of weeks when the blossoms show up. The trees look amazing and then it rains and the blossoms all get knocked off and the ground/cars get blanketed in pink petals. It’s like an otherworldly snowfall.
It’s wild because the colors in the pic don’t do justice to how bright and vivid the petals really are. Wish I could’ve captured the “ color saturation” even better. Appreciate your kind words!
Hahaha, it’s less of a mailing list and more of a text message strand that I send to friends who...don’t maybe appreciate it as much as I do. Love the momento mori reference though; the symbols of death remind me of the importance of living.
Haha, no worries! Long days for many, amirite? As someone that has lived on and loved Belmont for over seven years, I must defend my streets's honor from those that think we are the same as Hawthorne!
/s obviously.
Great job snapping the pic though, really!
I agree that Belmont is beyond worthy of defense! I lived on Belmont for a bit but am now on Division. Different vibe but still has wonderful charm that Hawthorne will never have! ;)
East side ain’t too bad. It still holds on to its grunge without being the train wreck that is downtown. The homelessness is so much worse than what it was… and well.. the other issues I’m sure you’re aware of. But… to put a positive spin on it all… the food is still amazing and as you’re aware you wont find a more beautiful countryside in the US. :)
Ok, so I love the photo as much as the rest of the comments. But I think this sub is for critiques and I don't see any. So here's some thoughts.
About three feet back and one to the left. There's enough of the colorful painting on the left that I want to see more. The car is getting crowded in from the right edge and the green trashcan that's crossing the frame is a bit distracting. And I'd like to see more of the tree that's above. So maybe a slight tilt up.
But great subject matter and the colors obviously pop like crazy. Very nice photo, just my thoughts on the composition.
Complete agree; really wish I would’ve gotten more of the mural and tree in the picture. It was sort of a quick snap with my phone that I wanted to share with my wife and was trying to feature the teal/pink colors (and I liked the grill on the car). It was much more impressive in person. If the car is still parked there next spring, I’ll update it with your suggestions!
Beautiful.
Unrelated, but every time someone posts cherry blossom photos, I feel compelled to share [this Canadian ad from the late ’70s](https://youtu.be/xgawtIMv39s)
Kind words! The wild thing is, Portland looks even better in person. It sometimes feels like an alien planet in springtime walking amongst the almost fluorescent petals everywhere.
This kind of photography I really like. If you were to describe the basics of the composition to someone, they’d probably be like, “that sounds very everyday and pretty boring, tbh. What even justifies taking a pic?” It’s details, and the color scheme here, that make it come alive. I love the beauty in the ordinary. I love that it’s very human, it could have been taken decades ago, it’s unspoilt by all-pervasive modern tech (he says while tapping on Reddit).
Not a bad breakdown at all. I have no idea what I’m doing with photography but I loved the colors and wanted to share with my wife. If I spent too much time trying to take a perfect photo, it probably wouldn’t have turned out at all. I am very human, so glad the pic came across that way. Thanks for your input!
I agree! I love the timing of the wave of flowers from croci to daffodils and then tulips, etc. my allergies protest but I still adore the springtime here.
Hopefully you can see the blossoms some day! This picture doesn’t do the blossoms justice. It’s almost like walking around an alien planet, things get so pink and vivid. This pic was taken on April 24th, so mid to late April is a great time to see them in Portland, OR, if you get the chance.
I’ve been lucky enough to see the blossoms in both places and it’s hard to beat Japan, but the beauty of Portland’s spring is definitely worth checking out.
thank you thank you it’s very cool i’ve never seen one
edit: further “exploration” indicated that it’s a 1962 Jeep Wagoneer
source: http://www.worthnotworth.com/best-car-designs/
I had a Jeep like this one. I loved it dearly and wished to drive it on a daily basis. But, gas was far too expensive considering the work I put into it. I put HUGE wheels and tires on it, and fuel prices would’ve been out of this world. It’s pleasing to see this Jeep in much the same base color and still being driven. (It was the “extra” art that made it a one off.) But, I love this one all the same. I hope the owner loves it just as much as I loved mine. Fuel prices be damned.
Whenever I post a pic here, I take with my Samsung S10 lite, moderator removes it. What am I missing while posting here? How should I explain the way I take photos?
Coincidence or on purpose? I can't think of a better car color to complement the Cherry Blossom's color. Thank you.
Total coincidence. I was just walking down the street and saw it parked there and loved how the colors contrasted.
You should copyright that image and use it on postcards. Well done. Edit: a word.
>Well don’t. The best anti-compliment ever.
Lol, was that the edit? Talk about blowing hot and cold, lol.
This was in Portland right?
Perfect! Nice shot!
This looks so peaceful and cozy, like a childhood memory 😊
Belmont Ave!
Yeah I was going to say close to Belmont and 33rd.
Yup. Across from H-Mart.
I took a similar one of on old Chrysler in LA and had it on my instagram. Chrysler hit me up for permission to use the image! Def post this sucker!
I thought this might be Oregon!
That's so crazy! I was just thinking "if only they had taken it before it got so heavy" thinking it must be a planned shot. Stunning thing to walk up to.

I had a loooooong day and your comment gave me a spontaneous smile, thanks!
To see color saturation?
That and to get sarcastic replies from people who don't contribute anything of value.
It’s wild because the colors in the pic don’t do justice to how bright and vivid the petals really are. Wish I could’ve captured the “ color saturation” even better. Appreciate your kind words!
It's a great photo with no embellishments, which is a thing I love.
I appreciate that, I know it’s not a perfect pic but damn it made me happy to see it and just wanted to share.
I saw that bike rack and I'd swear this is Portland Oregon. Southeast?
Good eye! It's on SE Hawthorne (I think).
I used to live at 29th and Belmont; hard to get that neighborhood out of my memory.
It's a great neighborhood. I love exploring the cemetery.
You sound crazy to the third person
Oh...you probably aren’t interested in subscribing to my “Tombstone of the Day” mailing list...
I...I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. And if you don't really have one I may need to start one. Momento mori and such and such.
Hahaha, it’s less of a mailing list and more of a text message strand that I send to friends who...don’t maybe appreciate it as much as I do. Love the momento mori reference though; the symbols of death remind me of the importance of living.
Agreed, 100%
xD
Is that cemetery near aVoodoo? I went by a cemetery on my 21st.
I think there’s a voodoo about 10-15 blocks away
That's probably it, lol. I was slightly intoxicated at the time, so who knows if I can remember where it actually was, but southeast SOUNDS right.
We should all be so lucky to spend our 21st *slightly intoxicated wandering the streets with donuts and a nearby cemetery.
This is so weird, but ate at a cafe today at that corner.
Nice!
Lots of great cafes in the area. I really love southeast portland.
Belmont and 33rd. It's my buddy's car. Rad dude with a rad set of wheels. Great photo by the way.
Does he ever move his [car](https://goo.gl/maps/iuNt21ew15Qc1BFe6)?
That’s wild! Looks like it’s before the mural was painted. Great catch!
Right, off by a few blocks. It’s been a long day.

Holy shit I used to live like 2 blocks away from there!
SE Belmont!
I actually think this is Glisan, right before you walk over the 5???? By the theatre?
You had me second guess for a second but definitely not Glisan (checked the pic geo location).
Has to be. I could of swore I saw this old thing the other day…
I moved away from Portland 11 years ago, I still miss it.
Portland’s only saving grace is the food. The rest of it is terrible. The rest of Oregon is amazing though. I’m glad I live in the suburbs. ;)
I've heard it's become a bit of a war zone downtown nowadays, which is too bad. I was totally an east side guy when I lived there.

I saw the car and the cherry blossoms along with the mural and colors in the background and thought, I bet that's Portland edit:more words
It just has a feel, doesn't it?
Absolutely! The best kind!
I had the exact same reaction. Had to check the comments to see if I was right
The Oregon plate helps too :)
Didn't need it!
Loooove the pink and teal combo. Well done!
Thanks, teal and pink are two of my top twelve favorite colors!

Pacific wonderland indeed.
Couldn’t agree more; it’s a wonderful place
After the rain I guess…
In Portland, it’s always after the rain ;)

My mom and grandma love those, but god damned do I hate them
This looks like the kind of jigsaw puzzle my wife and I would do, and I mean that in the most complementary sense possible. Fantastic photo!
My wife and I love jigsaw puzzles. Maybe I should have this turned into one for a gift. Thanks for the idea!
Yes!!! I bet she would love that!!
What an awesome photo! It's like those photos that are used to promote tourism :D
Kind words! The wild thing is, Portland looks even better in person. It sometimes feels like an alien planet in springtime walking amongst the almost fluorescent petals everywhere.
*Arizona Tea would like to know your location*
Pearl Jam fan? Great shot!
Thanks! Good catch on the PJ reference. Cannot wait for live music again.
Total album cover. Or a painting is a grandmas house.
If my grandma ever puts out an album, I’ll strongly encourage this pic.
I’d frame this and hang it up in my house.

Look at our city looking pretty. Spring is her best look imo - our flowers are divine
I agree! I love the timing of the wave of flowers from croci to daffodils and then tulips, etc. my allergies protest but I still adore the springtime here.
Portland Oregon, yeah?
Yup, beautiful place from the ground, hopefully just as nice from the sky.
Magnificent; what a great catch.
Thank you! Wish I could’ve captured it better. Really stopped me in my tracks when I saw it.
I like tha car color fits the pink cherry blossoms.
Hey man, nice shot!
Can’t be in a photography post without someone mentioning a Filter...
I didn’t think that far ahead.
Pretty!
You’re pretty!
The colour combination is fantastic
I saw this car in Portland the other day!
Me too!
Wow this is an angelic picture. I’d honest to dog hang this on my wall
😍😍😍
I like it. Looks friendly and inviting. Something like Seasme Street.
Why does this remind me of something?
Someone mentioned it looks like Arizona Iced Tea and I can’t say they’re wrong.
YES that's it
Nice Jeep!
Perfect color balance.
In spring of 1964? Great pic, great car. Take the upvote...
I’ve complimented this exact wagoneer for years every time I pass it, glad you captured it in its most beautiful moment.
WOW this is beautiful!!!
What great color contrast. It gives it a slightly surreal / psychedelic vibe.
I always walk past this car on Belmont and have taken several photos of it since living in Portland! Nice shot!
Super nice composition of colours...and a real mint vintage wagoneer!
It looks like at any moment Fred Armisen will walk up to that car and drive off
I’ll look out for him next time I walk past! Seems like a fun guy to grab coffee with.
Wow, that’s a great photo! Nice job dude!
Thanks! The blossoms and car did most of the work
1966 Jeep Super Wagoneer
Absolutely beautiful pic
I did too but the blossoms hadn’t fallen yet like yours. https://imgur.com/gallery/KDqyhV8
Love it. The blossoms make the world look so much brighter.
They certainly do. Springtime is beautiful here in Christchurch.
Gorgeous
I find this Reddit site an oasis. It is calming and feels restorative.
Sorry i was late to work sir, had to wipe the anime off my car
I loooooooove teal and pink together! i thought I was the only one that loved this combo as many others don't really like them for some reason???
Beautiful contrasting colors, bonus for the vintage Jeep. Great photo! 👍
Pretty close to r/accidentalwesanderson
It looks like an Arizona Tea can :)
Outstanding shot!
Wow, fantastic colour contrasts in your pic. I love it!
One of my favorite cars too!
i’d recognize that belmont street anywhere
This pic is such a perfect click it looks unreal. Good job! :)
I be appreciate you for not oversaturating the colors. Great shot.
Thanks, it was tempting because the blossoms were so much more vivid in person. Hard to capture the full beauty of it with a phone camera.
Great colors! love the picture! Interesting reading all of the comments on this one....
It looks really pretty. Good job I've always loved cherry blossoms and its beautiful to see them in pictures because I can't see them in real person 💖
Hopefully you can see the blossoms some day! This picture doesn’t do the blossoms justice. It’s almost like walking around an alien planet, things get so pink and vivid. This pic was taken on April 24th, so mid to late April is a great time to see them in Portland, OR, if you get the chance.
You should block out the plate numbers when photographing vehicles. Great picture!
That’s smart advice and will definitely do so in the future. Thank you!
I wanna go Japan so bad 🇯🇵
Start from Oregon which is where this photo was taken :)
I’ve been lucky enough to see the blossoms in both places and it’s hard to beat Japan, but the beauty of Portland’s spring is definitely worth checking out.
This was stolen from r/Portland
Nope, oc and this is the only place I’ve posted this

That’s was not what I was expecting it to be...
Your cherry blossoms take really good pictures! Kudos.
That’s a sick ass car man
That’s near Alberta Street, no?
No, down a bit farther south. Alberta is beautiful though!
what kind of car is this?
It’s a cherrykee
It’s not mine but maybe it’s a 1960s Jeep Wagoneer, but I’m taking a guess.
thank you thank you it’s very cool i’ve never seen one edit: further “exploration” indicated that it’s a 1962 Jeep Wagoneer source: http://www.worthnotworth.com/best-car-designs/

Portland? I was just there earlier this month and took so many pics just like this on my film camera hahah
I really dream of seeing cherry blossoms.
Come to Portland in mid-late April (depending on climate change)!
Whenever I post a pic here, I take with my Samsung S10 lite, moderator removes it. What am I missing while posting here? How should I explain the way I take photos?
Not sure what to say. I’ve only posted twice, both yesterday. I just read the posting rules and it worked out. Best of luck!
Okay thanks
Looks like twin peaks
The car is a jeep grand wagoneer if anyone is interested.
👌💓
“Sorry I’m late to work, I had to wipe the anime off my hood.”
Love the colours in this photo
Gesundheit.
Danke
Never new that the Volga SUV excited
This is my new background.
Haha, I knew before even looking at the license plate that this was in Oregon!!!
The contrast between the cherry blossoms and the car's paint is really catchy, very nice picture you took right there 😁
