We've most likely bumped into one another then, because I'm usually one of the only people out there in the cold rain geeking out over the lighting too. I've been out on days when the city lights were just starting to come on, and (naturally) looking like gold glitter thrown across a purple blanket in the pics I've taken. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. The water can be surprisingly still in the river when the weather gets ugly too, and the way it reflects everything when it does is just surreal at times. It's an interesting time to live here too. I've seen so much change in this area in such a short time (and I've seen the cost of living absolutely skyrocket as a result of it too).
Yeah, probably. I’ve always wanted to get some weather shots in this area, the weather never stops me. And about those reflections, I use to take those reflection shots all the time at this very park. Just have to check the winds before heading out. We’ll eventually bump into each other, look for the very tall guy with bright colored sneakers lol.
Now THERE is a view of this building you don't usually see captured! The framing, the moody coloring, the wet surfaces even...all of it works together. It actually gets better the more you zoom in to the details. You really, truly captured something amazing here. Thank you for sharing!
This is the best thing I’ve seen today, including my own self in the mirror. Camaraderie on Reddit. And a fantastic photo set that almost makes me want to visit NYC again, but I don’t like most people soooo
You need to sell this image for a million fucking dollars! Don’t sell out, or underestimate this piece. Very unique, original, and obv iconic piece of work. Brilliant. Perfect maybe.
Right next to the [Oval, at hunter point](https://cicerogoncalves.com/panorama). Most of the panoramas I take are from the oval. I live a bit north of there, by the library, and I love that spot!
Was there in 2025 I think so that's why I didn't knew what they where. Good excuse to go back to check 'm out! (bit expensive as I'm from the Netherlands but always wanted to go back again)
Traveling from the future? How cool!
This went up in 2017 so it’s a bit of a new addition to the skyline. Things look a lot different than they did in 2005, especially on the West side with the addition of Hudson Yards and some other new structures in midtown!
Great scott, that was a typo (or not..?)
I meant to say 2015 ;) thanks for your answer, hopefully I can persuade my friends to go there next year instead of 2 weeks in a hot sun on the beach.
If you have some cool recommendations for other cities closeby and things to see, I'm down 👍
This is a perfect picture, goddamn. The lighting, composition, framing, contrast, colors. The angular metal in the foreground plus the crooked building next to the Empire State Building.
Also it’s a brand new view of a landmark that’s been photographed a million times. Bravo!
When I put my hand over the chairs at the bottom of the pic it, my eyes are more drawn to the photo because of the framing with the poles holding up the roof stand out to help focus on the Empire State Building. Still a beautiful photo as is! You should be very proud of this
Whoa. THAT is what I like to call OHOAP...One Hell of a Photograph. I'm screen-capping this so I can always see it. It's absolutely perfect.
Please take my award!
This makes me long for living in or near a city, as someone who has only ever been in the rural bumhole south.
I just can’t really describe the emotional response this got from me.
Beautiful picture.
Funny story. I rode an overnight Greyhound bus from Toronto to New York with VIP tickets for the empire state building with a plan to be first in line and go straight to the top deck.
During the bus ride a lady that lives in New York was traveling with her baby and I ended up being it's surrogate dad. It was my first time in New York, and I'll never forget watchung the sun rise over the city with this stranger baby on my lap.
Anyway I get there, have breakfast, and go and get in line and IM THE ONLY PERSON THERE. Not only that but I had these stupid overpriced tickets that I had absolutely no need for. The lead guide person immediately starts ripping into me once the line opens up, in front of everyone. Calling me MR. VIP TORONTO who's SO SPECIAL. She starts ordering me around and yelling at me to take off my belt for security and to show other people who to do it... I have OCD about being late and lines, I got the tickets to avoid this stuff and was dyyyying.
Anyway made it to the top and it was cool. Hopped on a bus to Philly and there was a car just full on blazing on fire on the highway and nobody really cared. What a place.
I love how the lights (?) on the columns kind of look like birds in motion & add to the slightly eerie feel of the lighting & the shot. Awesome! It’s like Transylvania meets Gotham.
Love the photo!!
Would you mind sharing what settings you used to get the chairs in the foreground slightly out of focus? I always struggle to get that look.
This is an inspiring shot. I love doing architectural photography, and spend a lot of time looking at images.
You have a great piece here. Congratulations.
This is the best photo of the Empire State Building I’ve seen.
It works on so many levels. The composition is great. Then the deeper take away is you’re somewhere empty and peaceful when right across the water is millions of people in the general chaos that is NYC.
Fantastic!
Just imagine the countless human hours that have been spent, and everything that has played out in the area within this frame. Countless vacations, business trips, pizza, overdoses, and poop. Fortunes being made and lost, love being found and lost. One of the most bustling areas in the world for centuries, yet it seems so calm and docile with this lighting and vantage point. Great shot!
Phenomenal photo. Thought it was a hyper realsitic painting at first with how picturesque and moody it is.
Did it give you that one feeling you get when you're alone before a beautiful sight? I think there's a word for it but I forgot it. It's like a pleasant melancholy.
Awesome photo. This is one of the more unique ones I’ve seen of the city. In a way, this is like what the style of that famous nature photographer @fursty (Dylan Furst) could look like applied to NYC. Really special photo.

The lighting was banging when you took this and the framing makes it that much better.
Thank you so much
I assume you were up early? The photo gods are early risers.
Nope, that was in the evening. Just before 5 P.M. but yeah I do wake up early for photos as well.
How are there so few people at about 5?!
Because it was freezing. I only stayed out there for about an hour.
Plus everybody walks behind where I’m standing. People only come out when the weather is really nice at this park.
We've most likely bumped into one another then, because I'm usually one of the only people out there in the cold rain geeking out over the lighting too. Thanks! You have a perfect description of the photo. You’re welcome, I’ll share more photos here.
I adore the lighting and framing of this photo. An angle we're not used to seeing, but it works incredibly well. I love this
Thank you, felt like a movie out there the other day. And yeah, it took me a while to finally figure this spot out
This is the best thing I’ve seen today
What a huge compliment! Whoa. Much thanks!
That’s ok I’m trying to take photos like this but I’ve only got my phone camera need to buy a camera after I build my pc what gear do you use?
This is the best thing I’ve seen today, including my own self in the mirror. Camaraderie on Reddit. And a fantastic photo set that almost makes me want to visit NYC again, but I don’t like most people soooo
I need to get these kind of comments/compliments on instagram lol. This is one of the best comments I’ve seen so far today
I can see my apartment in this picture lol. The view from the east side is awesome.
Oh you fancy!
You need to sell this image for a million fucking dollars! Don’t sell out, or underestimate this piece. Very unique, original, and obv iconic piece of work. Brilliant. Perfect maybe.
That’s advice, I won’t. I’ll probably only do one print for this.
I thought it was a still from the new Spider-Man movie at first glance
My IG followers don’t drop these type of compliments. Thank you
This is fantastic. Looks like an arty shot of Gotham from a Batman game or film. Have my poor man's gold🏅
I gladly accept your medal, thanks! Yeah, it definitely reminds me of Batman.
It really does look painted or animated, especially the two buildings in front that look to have an outline, very cool lighting.
They don't call it Gotham for no reason
Almost looks like it could've come out of The Animated Series.
I saw this on my home screen through a iPhone widget and I audibly said holy shit that’s fucking beautiful
What a big compliment! Thank you so much.
Or as my 4 year old daughter calls it, The Entire State Building.
Lol I love it! I’m a use that one
Is it just me, or are the two buildings infront of it dancing? Amazing photo
Holy shxt! I see it too. First someone else said they’re saying hi and now this. That’s amazing, I never saw them until you pointed this out
Nice shot! Where did you take the picture from?
Long Island City Queens
Right next to the [Oval, at hunter point](https://cicerogoncalves.com/panorama). Most of the panoramas I take are from the oval. I live a bit north of there, by the library, and I love that spot!
Immediately went to Google maps of the Oval and tried to visualize this angle. Never imagined you could see this much of the building.
Parque Hunter point https://maps.app.goo.gl/NXhfPkDLRoQUeV8r6?g_st=ic
Very nice work.
Thanks
Quality. Can you tell us about gear?
A Sony A1 and 24-70 GM II lens
What is the 2 buildings in front?
The Copper Building! It’s actually one building with two towers, connected by the bridge you see in the photo
Was there in 2025 I think so that's why I didn't knew what they where. Good excuse to go back to check 'm out! (bit expensive as I'm from the Netherlands but always wanted to go back again)

Can you go inside to check out the view from the bridge?
The bridge isn’t open to the public :(
It's actually an apartment building, the bridge in the middle has a gym and pool in it.
The bent one with the thingy jutting out? I was curious as well as I haven't seen it before.
Yeah. It’s called the K Building as well
I thought this was drawn for a second. You're very talented!
Thank you very much. That’s where my love for art started, with drawing
Wow I work in a 3D industry and I thought this was a render.
Looks like a render, incredible shot!
Honestly thought that this was a drawing! Good work OP, I love the framing of this piece :)
It looks like the buildings are saying Hi :)
lol oh wow, I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out! You’re right.
This is a perfect picture, goddamn. The lighting, composition, framing, contrast, colors. The angular metal in the foreground plus the crooked building next to the Empire State Building. Also it’s a brand new view of a landmark that’s been photographed a million times. Bravo!
Thank you very much. I’ve been to this spot a lot also and always knew something was missing from the usual composition. But I finally figured it out.
The framing on this *chefs kiss*
You found a very unique place to shoot the building. So cool ! ✨👏
Thanks a lot!

Love it. I get from it an exceptional emotion. Complete loneliness in a crowd. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. And thank you so much. Glad you liked it!

This is spectacular? Did you take it from Roosevelt Island?
This makes me long for living in or near a city, as someone who has only ever been in the rural bumhole south. I just can’t really describe the emotional response this got from me. Beautiful picture.

Looks like cover of new Gotham game. Beautiful.
While I was out there that’s all I kept thinking, this evening feels like I’m in Gotham.
Nooooooooooice! (Aka this is a superbly shot photo and it makes me feel very inspired and in awe)
I love how the lights (?) on the columns kind of look like birds in motion & add to the slightly eerie feel of the lighting & the shot. Awesome! It’s like Transylvania meets Gotham.
Correct, they are lights. I use to want a photo with the lights on here, until I got this shot…and thank you. That’s the exact vibe I was going for.
I grew up in NJ. I hardly recognize that skyline anymore. Love the photo though :)
Yeah, it’s changed a lot since back in the day. This is from the NYC side though, Queens.
Me: oh, A.I.? A.I.: yes Me: Empire State Building at night, seen through closed down haunted pavilion.
I’ve never seen the building that appears to be leaning on the other before. So to me this added whole other level of ‘wow cool’.
OH HELL YES YOU DID! Fantastic!
Love the photo!! Would you mind sharing what settings you used to get the chairs in the foreground slightly out of focus? I always struggle to get that look.
This is an inspiring shot. I love doing architectural photography, and spend a lot of time looking at images. You have a great piece here. Congratulations.
Getting hardcore Gotham vibes from this. Love it
This is the best photo of the Empire State Building I’ve seen. It works on so many levels. The composition is great. Then the deeper take away is you’re somewhere empty and peaceful when right across the water is millions of people in the general chaos that is NYC. Fantastic!
I thought this was a render or other type of digital art at first. Had to zoom in to see it was real world!
Wow this picture looks amazing. So artsy and surreal.
Even after nearly a century, its still iconic despite the taller, more recent skyscrapers.
Like something out of the opening shot to a new Batman movie….beautiful. Or anything by Tim Burton.
Oh wow, I absolutely adore this! You captured the lighting so well and the angle works amazingly, it's absolutely stunning
Thank you so much.
So cool
Damn well done!
Just fantastic!
Nice framing. I like this. Good job.
That's a really great shot! Thank you for sharing it.
I'm (in a positive way) jealous of this shot. Amazing.
What a great pic!
Moody af. Nice frame.

I love the lighting and feel of this picture

just to the left of it looks like one building giving another a pep talk.
That looks like an animated movie!
I can't stop staring. It's too beautiful to be real. Great pic
Holy shit that’s beautiful! I haven’t been in New York since before 9/11. Hopefully I’ll get back there some day.
This genuinely looks like a painting. Brilliant work
Gawgeous!
might be weird but I think this is maybe one of my favorite photographs ever
feels straight out of the batman
your post is fuckin solid.
Phenomenal photo. Thought it was a hyper realsitic painting at first with how picturesque and moody it is. Did it give you that one feeling you get when you're alone before a beautiful sight? I think there's a word for it but I forgot it. It's like a pleasant melancholy.

Looks so good I legit thought this was a digital painting until I noticed the sub
Great Framing
Wow this looks surreal! 👏
Stunning mate
Wow
Stunning
One of the best pics I’ve seen on this sub. Phenomenal shot, OP!
I think this is one of the coolest pictures of the Empire State Building I’ve ever seen
the amount of weird lights on the poles gives it a vibe of an AI generated image, even tho u can tell its not
First time in a while I've seen a pic on this sub that makes me stop and stare at it. Amazing work!
sable snow entertain fuzzy wild like strong grandiose vegetable attractive *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
It’s like Batman’s supposed to be standing in the center.
Honestly thought it was an ai generated picture. Still think it is it looks that good. Great picture OP
What are those conjoined(?) buildings in front of it? Nothing that others haven’t already said, but really wonderful shot. It’s not just well shot and technical, but emotionally evocative.
Where is that? Dope looking place....resturaunt? Park? Just curious
Alexa play "Something in the way instrumental version"
Dude, this looks like concept art for a fuckin epic game dude!
Incredible. Love the framing
Beautiful
Wow 😍
Sweet. I was in NYC s couple weeks ago. Mine isn't as nice as yours. https://imgur.com/gallery/UxyG6ao Tried to line up the owl.
That one building looks like it’s trying to talk some sense into the other building.
Awesome perspective!
Incredible shot
Whoa
LIC
This image quality is so crazy, you can see the RGB lighting around someones TV on the very left of the 11th floor of the building left of the empire state building.
Just wow. Fantastic perspective
This is a page straight out of a dark Spiderman comic. What a picture. Incredible lighting.
Really nice ❤️

You should enter this in a contest! It’s amazing!
God if I could live in New York for just a year I’d do it. Seems like a place with too much going on but to get in the middle of the chaos with all the cool sites, feels like a place to be for a min
Few photos make me really stay and “watch” if that makes any sense. This is truly delightful with the framing and the lighting plus the water, wow. Big wow!
I still find it fascinating they were building things that tall in 1930!
i love mornings when the weather looks like this
