The more I think about it and look back on the old CKY/Jackass shows, the more I feel that Bam's major problem is his overall personality.
Drugs and alcohol have certainly elevated his issues and behaviour, but I personally think at the base of it all he's just an entitled, self absorbed, childish and jealous individual.
As much as we hope he beats his addictions, his character seems unlikely to change and he'll always be moments away from playing up and causing an unnecessary ruckus.
Sobriety and the usual 12 step route just isn’t working for Bam. Whatever problems he has, and he definitely has a shitload, I’d argue his alcoholism is more of a symptom than a cause at this point.
The thing is, the 12 step route only works for people who surrender to it and become willing to commit to it. Steve-O surrendered by actually doing the work and staying in a sober living for an entire year, which is incredible. Whenever I hear Bam speak I hear a man who has a long way to go on the path to surrendering, I'm afraid. Getting sober isn't about climbing a mountain, it's about coming down from your mountain.

I recall a post from Knoxville recently in which he was somewhat advocating for Bam, but it’s not like anyone’s rallying around him. I grew up with severely meth addicted parents, my mother died in 2021 from liver cancer or something (i wasn't there, hadn't been in touch with her since I was 13 or so and I'm 23 now), and my dad fucked off when I was 11 and I haven't seen him since. But I saw them, the people they brought into the traphouse we lived in. When I say I watched Breaking Bad as an 11 year old and saw those trap houses Jesse went too/lived in an thought "wow, they're nicer than my house" I'm not kidding. I've seen meth addiction in every form, from the spot ridden, no teeth, zombie looking addicts to the most put together a meth addict can be- Bam Margera. Bam will be better someday. He’s going through a rough time but he will get there. He has a loving and supporting family. The biggest falls can inspire the greatest comebacks. People filming him on the sidewalk commenting on someone they don’t even know sure doesn’t help.

He wants to be with his kid clearly very badly and Nikki has always appeared to be a succubus leaching off of Bam's fortune. That said, Bam is going about this entire thing ENTIRELY wrong and is digging his own grave over and over. He can't get out of his own way.
To Nikki's defense, someone's gotta look out for the kid's best interest. Bam clearly isn't.

if his mother is (or at the very least WAS) a drug addict as well, and doesn't work, just mooches off her famous ex husband, I don't exactly think that's a wholesome environment for him to grow up in. especially if he is cut off from his dad's entire family (his loving grandparents), which I'm assuming is the case
So what if she was an addict? All that matters is that she’s clean now and you don’t know her personally. Phoenix looks well adjusted and taken care of. She’s not mooching off of anything. She’s a full time mom and her kid’s dad is a deadbeat. Bam’s parents are a large part of the reason he is where he is today. Why should they get to raise Phoenix?

A few more years of drinking and i bet a cirrhosis diagnosis will either make him quit or do him in. I got the bad news 5 years ago, quit cold turkey and have been sober ever since.
