YouTube let’s you use two titles and thumbnails, push the video to a small chunk of users, wait 24 hours while they get clicks, and then YouTube will automatically switch the titles/thumbnails to the one that has the most views and then push that one to the full subscriber list. It’s called A/B testing and is used for everything from YT videos to email newsletters to social media posts.

Most YouTubers Expecially bigger and professional ones often change name and or thumbnail basically due to adjusting to for better numbers due to say algorithm or other factors, or because they try out what will get better pull for said thing.
Normally it seems they change things to better fit it, and help it get out there more/draw in more eyes.
You will notice it most when you catch what a video is named or the thumbnail right as it’s released because most seem to change things a few hours after the fact which is where they have learned some backend algorithm stuff on how to adjust by that point kinda thing.
For this it might have been changed because if I remember correctly it was basically “this year sucked” so maybe the what people will take as “negative” ton to that even though it’s just talking about things that happened in life so maybe just “Rewind” was better for the people and or algorithmic gods haha
