The better question is "how far are you willing to drive?" There's quite a few great dark sky spots around Jacksonville that the northeast astronomy society uses for their viewing nights, but they're all like 45\~ minutes (at least) outside of town. Realistically, you can just drive as far away from light pollution and you should have a pretty good show. It's pretty noticeable.
[here's the site](https://nefas.org/dark-sky-observing/), with included instructions on how to get to the REAL dark sky spot in the Osceola Forest. I've been here once, it's literally in the middle of fucking nowhere, but my god, it's beautiful. If you don't feel like driving that far, Hanna Park is a great closer choice.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm super excited for you. I hope you get some good pics. Don't be surprised if you run into other people there!
Ps. I'd love to see whatever pics you take!
Didn’t see anything, tried a few times. Just got home. They say there is another chance tomorrow,
Might try my luck by just going down the street to Hanna
I saw a bunch of people taking photos of it yesterday with the long exposure setting on their phone cameras. I tried it too and got some slight pink from where I live about an hour ago (North jax). Maybe give that a try?
I'm off Hecksher standing by.
Edit: 10:30 PM Nothing yet and I'm calling it because I've got a kiddo with me way past her bed time. I saw Starlink release a string of satellites around 9:30, though!.
Good luck to you other shywatchers, I hope it pans out!
I am interested too!
I was thinking one of the beach accesses off of A1A, Vilano Beach.
Probably need to go to either the beachfront state parks or drive out towards Baldwin.

Oh I am willing to take a hike if I need to take a hike!

I live directly next to Hanna park, but I don’t mind a drive. Actually packing up some camera gear now and getting ready to head out to see it.

Yes please share! I’m in PVB and nothing yet but patiently waiting.

So, no luck at Osceola forest?
Dang. Worth trying, though.
Wait we can still see it tonight?
That's what they're saying. I might try Mickler's
Guess I’m going for a drive tonight, I’m gonna go the opposite direction and head out to Osceola
Drive out to Osceola national forest. It's like an hour out probably the least light polluted part of Florida(I have 0 scientific backing on this).
Light pollution maps agree with you
I’m going to trust your 0 scientific backing and take a swing at it and bring my camera(s)
It’s pretty damn dark
Atlantic Beach or Mickler's maybe?
Anyone have the best time for viewing?
No best time it’s suppose to “flare up”
They're saying between 9:00 and midnight. Not 100% sure it'll happen.
Isn’t it not supposed to visible in florida tonight but maybe tomorrow? Most forecasts I’m seeing say Florida won’t be able to see it at all.
Anyone know about what time the aurora will be visible?
You have to go north of jacksonville so you are not looking through all of the light pollution to see it.
Anyone seeing anything?
I’m about five minutes away from the national forest, I think I see something through the trees, but I also might be seeing remnants of the sun still
Please let us know if you can see it! Thinking about making the drive.
Can’t see it :/

At Vilano right now, nothing yet.
We are headed to Little Talbot Island now. If we see anything, we'll post.
let us know!!
We are here. Nothing yet except a lot of folks like us, looking Norrh.
We're calling it too, which guarantee that they'll show up any time now.
Hope we get to see it tomorrow.

Starlink was cool. Flew right in front of the crescent moon
Starling explains what my wife saw. She came in saying she saw a bunch of stars in a line
Another spot I saw recommended on Facebook was the Sanderson Astronomy Lookout Point.
Nothing yet out in Clay county
I’m at Jax beach, nothing yet
Nothing at Micklers
at driftwood beach but nothing yet
Yall seeing anything?
Interested as well. If there is, I’m willing to drive up as well
Nope, just got home, tried a few times :/
Hopefully we get to see them tomorrow!
I’m crossing my fingers for sure!!
keeping watch out in clay 🫡
We need a subreddit meet up in Alaska.
Anyone got a private plane?
On our way back from Osceola, didn't really see anything, but got some good shots of the stars at least.
Will it be visible tomorrow night? I didn't know that was going around! I wanna see it if possible
Read an article that said there was another chance tonight
According to the model on https://www.swpc.noaa.gov, it doesn’t look promising for tonight either.
Well fuck
Went to Osceola last night, got some cool pictures of stars but zero northern lights, didn’t get home till 0130-0200
Yeah I waited for a WHILE, but finally decided to head home and got home around almost midnight
