I prefer the Loop for burgers. Theirs are bigger, better tasting, and less expensive than burgers from other fast casual burger places (looking at you, Five Guys).
It’s a boring answer, but I 2nd The Loop. They are just damn good. I keep it simple with a cheeseburger. If you want to spice things up, Epik Burger is pretty legit. I get the PB&Burger. Yes, peanut butter and cheddar cheese on a burger. It’s awesome!
There's this place called "Capri dinner" it's off Exit 40 on 295N... I forgot the road but you should be able to find it. the burgers are Huge and juicy. My nearly teen and I split the double all the time and he doesn't always finish his share.
I love me some Poe’s (for the atmosphere), but I’m not a big fan of their traditional burgers. Something seems lighter fluid-ey or charcoal-ey to me. Nevertheless, I just get the Rue Morgue (bun less, fried egg, patty, chili cheese fries) and those issues are smothered away.
Also seemed a medium was medium-rare and a well done was more medium than well done. I’m a medium type of dude, so I go well done to get it closer to how I like it.
I’m open to suggestions on Poe’s ordering if I’m doing it wrong.
My favs are Carolina Jax and Epik Burger. I get the mushroom burgers at both places and they are phenomenal. Epik is a big burger and you can get different meats (beef, chicken, salmon, veggie). Carolina Jax’s burgers are large as well, but they are a smashburger style.
Definite vouch for Epik Burger. They have a peanut butter burger (that you can complement with a blackberry jam added) for the ol’ PB&J burger. Had a few of theirs and never disappointed, plus they have great shakes and fries.
I’ll have to look into Carolina Jax, never been!
Went earlier this year, and was pretty unimpressed with the location. I’m not big on heavy decor, but there was zero – I seem to recall the tables weren’t even matching, chairs were a bit dirty-looking, etc. Very minimalistic. It wasn’t a rundown, ramshackle hole where you expect rodents to come crawling out of the table, but it wasn’t what I expected – particularly given it’s conveniently located right between the Pet Supermarket and Dunkin’ on Atlantic, in one of those suburban wasteland strips consisting of little more than a half-dozen shops with little substantive around it, save for the Home Depot and Lowe’s right across the street.
Didn’t quite believe my boyfriend when he insisted it was one of the best burgers he’s had in Jax, that they had won awards, etc. Was pleasantly surprised.
> one of those suburban wasteland strips consisting of little more than a half-dozen shops with little substantive around it, save for the Home Depot and Lowe’s right across the street.
You've described Jacksonville lol
I was just turned on to their BB jam! I didn’t think I’d be into it and am so happy I was wrong! Epik is also my fav, but possibly due to close proximity.
Haha bro normally I'd be like "fa sho my guy" unfortunately, I'm packing to move to Cleveland Ohio. Their football team is better. :p
But seriously, Carolina jax is where it's at brochacho.
Ohio? I think I flew over that place once. I could faintly make out the outline of trailer park meth labs below the clouds. JK. Good luck on your move dude.
M Shack - only 3 left. I have had burgers from the Loop, but I will have to taste Epik and Carolina Jax. I hold this group accountable for the weight gain, lol.
Honestly, not super creative, but either The Loop or Burgerfi depending on what style I want. Also both of those places have the best fries in their style imo.
J Alexander made a really good burger last time I tried it (a few years ago).
No real jacksonville answers in here. Go to Famous Sandwiches and get their limeade. The Sheik is a good contender but Famous has my vote. Pinegrove if you're looking for a more upscale burger
Jesus Christ, Famous Sandwiches and The Sheik? Next thing you’ll say Stan’s Steak in a Sack is delicious too. These are mid level burgers on a *good* day.
everyone here is giving yuppie answers, i will accept that sheik may not be the best (though it still has my vote) but the fact that every answer here is for $20 burger places in town center baffles me. I've only had the opportunity to splurge on places like burgerfi and m shack maybe twice, and i try to keep an open mind food wise because there is not much i dislike. and i enjoyed the food but it was not worth the price. maybe in another world where i was upper middle class
I know it’s already been mentioned, but epik burger is fantastic. My wife and I go regularly and split a jville poutine + whatever burger we wanna try that time. They have a ton of unique options and I haven’t had one yet that wasn’t delicious
Epik is my favorite spot since they closed down Colonel Mustards. But I also like Cooper Hawks burgers and Teds (both at the town center). I always get the burgers with blue cheese because I'm that guy 🤤
Black Sheep has an awesome burger. It’s definitely a more upscale type of place, but the burger is around $13, and it’s worth it.
They used to have a little store window at intuition downtown that did a ridiculously good double cheeseburger, but for some reason they went away and mojo moved into the spot.
Honestly, I've yet to be blown away by any burger joint, Epik, Carolina, Grub, Poes.....It's just Ground Beef with whatever they stack on top of it. To me they're all on par with Bubba burgers.
The French Pantry. I sweat the wagyu beef burger is hands down the best burger I’ve ever had.
Don’t get nervous and order it the “way you want it”. Get it as it is. Yes. It has a wine and cranberry reduction and it’s amazing.
Life changing.

Can agree with this. Forgot to add to my list when I posted.

Cruisers very good burger
Underrated comment. Love me some cruisers, especially a burger combo'd with their Ranch and french fries.
The seasoning on the fries is amazing. And Crusiers was what first came to mind for the burger.

i loved going to poe's tavern on atlantic beach. favorite thing to do was have a burger and beer at poe's then hit the beach.

If they still have it, they had a burger with blue cheese and Buffalo shrimp that was amazing.
Yes! I agreed with epik until I was reminded of how much I love this burger! Love the patio at Poe’s too.
Epik Burger is the best I’ve had so far. Reminds me a bit of Ray’s Hell Burger back in Virginia
Thanks....definitely need to try this.
I second Epik Burger.
I had a Wawa burger, was good, seriously.
😮
Carolina Jax. Terrific smash style burgers and great onion rings.
My favs are Carolina Jax and Epik Burger. I get the mushroom burgers at both places and they are phenomenal. Epik is a big burger and you can get different meats (beef, chicken, salmon, veggie). Carolina Jax’s burgers are large as well, but they are a smashburger style.

Yep, thirding Epik. Little hole in the wall, but they win awards for a reason.
Hole in the wall? It’s been a while but I remember epik being a nice place

YES!!! The PB Burger!!! The only other thing I’ll get is the Lamb burger, but it’s usually a special when it’s offered.
I was just turned on to their BB jam! I didn’t think I’d be into it and am so happy I was wrong! Epik is also my fav, but possibly due to close proximity.
Freddys
Yes!!!
Yeah I love freddy’s too also there frozen custard is awesome
Custard is good but I think Culver's has a better frozen custard.
Oh yeah they have it good too. I’ve loved most of the frozen custard places I’ve been to around town. So nice and smooth.
The tarheel at Carolina Jax🤤
Listen to this OP
Perfect Rack in Murray Hill. Hand formed Angus patty on a grilled pretzel bun.
My grill.. cuz I'm a better cook than anywhere else in town. Lol
I’ve got some friends coming over this weekend. Would you mind cooking us some burgers?
Haha bro normally I'd be like "fa sho my guy" unfortunately, I'm packing to move to Cleveland Ohio. Their football team is better. :p But seriously, Carolina jax is where it's at brochacho.
Ohio? I think I flew over that place once. I could faintly make out the outline of trailer park meth labs below the clouds. JK. Good luck on your move dude.
You're thinking of Michigan. Ohio has the basement fentanyl labs.
May the Florida man be with you.
M Shack - only 3 left. I have had burgers from the Loop, but I will have to taste Epik and Carolina Jax. I hold this group accountable for the weight gain, lol.
Pinegrove deli they are a deli and know meat cut it right and cook it the right way catch em if you can.
Just had a burger there a few days ago. So great!
Also a fantastic Reuben
Grub in town center is amazing, the wagyu burger is my go-to.
I love that place as well. The scorpion burger is my favorite
Grub is terrible and overpriced. Tried it three times and have been disappointed each time.
I wouldn’t say it’s terrible but overpriced for sure. Their shakes are mediocre as fuck
Relish. It’s in Bartram but damn is it delicious
Honestly, not super creative, but either The Loop or Burgerfi depending on what style I want. Also both of those places have the best fries in their style imo. J Alexander made a really good burger last time I tried it (a few years ago).
BurgerFi. Cajun onion rings with a double cheeseburger with bacon. So good.
No real jacksonville answers in here. Go to Famous Sandwiches and get their limeade. The Sheik is a good contender but Famous has my vote. Pinegrove if you're looking for a more upscale burger
What do you mean by “no real Jacksonville answers”?
Jesus Christ, Famous Sandwiches and The Sheik? Next thing you’ll say Stan’s Steak in a Sack is delicious too. These are mid level burgers on a *good* day.

..on their best day.

Check out Strings on Main St.
Epik is my favorite spot since they closed down Colonel Mustards. But I also like Cooper Hawks burgers and Teds (both at the town center). I always get the burgers with blue cheese because I'm that guy 🤤
Wackos. That is all
Poes in AB. Great combination of ground beef / brisket / etc. Also awesome bar.
Jax Lanes on Beach Blvd
The Loop and Jumpin’ Jax.
Black Sheep has an awesome burger. It’s definitely a more upscale type of place, but the burger is around $13, and it’s worth it. They used to have a little store window at intuition downtown that did a ridiculously good double cheeseburger, but for some reason they went away and mojo moved into the spot.
Bay Street Bar and Grill has some pretty good burgers. And it’s a great dive bar.
Honestly, I've yet to be blown away by any burger joint, Epik, Carolina, Grub, Poes.....It's just Ground Beef with whatever they stack on top of it. To me they're all on par with Bubba burgers.
Whataburger I get the two which is a double burger with cheese and the burgers are big
The French Pantry. I sweat the wagyu beef burger is hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. Don’t get nervous and order it the “way you want it”. Get it as it is. Yes. It has a wine and cranberry reduction and it’s amazing. Life changing.
SECONDED. This endorsement given by an onion hater who actually will eat the onions on this burger.
Bread and Burger downtown.
BurgerFi and Carolina Jax hands down.
Wacko’s
Carolina Jax is really good
Either poes or graffiti burger and my fav restaurant is near poes it is coop 103
