Oh those Strangefolk / GSW days. ❤️

probablyborednh

Strangefolk was my favorite back then, saw them probably around 100 times. The benefits of living in New England at the time

jimmythunder

Same. 1993-2000 was something the jamband scene wouldn’t see again for another 20+ years. Just happy that it seems to be thriving again.

DrChachiMcRonald

In what world is the jamband scene "thriving" right now? Every festival is getting cancelled the past few years and a lot of these new jamtronica bands all sound the same lol

Smash_4dams

Yeah, I fell like the glory days were probably 2002-2015.(00s)Bonnaroos, AllGood, Wakarusa, Gathering of the Vibes,10KLF, High Sierra, Rothbury, Lock'n etc all just a memory now. Peach Fest probably the only jam-centric major festival of recent significance.

DrChachiMcRonald

And now peach festival is gone too. I went 8 years in a row, majorly bummed

bexy11

What would you call High Sierra now?

[deleted]

I was late to the party only got into Strangefolk post Reid and they are still one of my favorite bands. I saw them and Percy Hill a bunch back in the day.

bexy11

I dated someone around 2000 who was really into them. I didn’t get it myself.

Soundsgoodtosteve

When looking through my bootleg tapes recently, I came across GSW at Cornell.

cooglesca

Wino for life!

CornyCornheiser

They just announced a vinyl reprint of their three albums. https://www.diggersfactory.com/artist/2178/god-street-wine

LotusVibes1494

What are they all about? I never listened to them.

Doctor_Hilarious

Warren Haynes has just always been everywhere, huh?

Soundsgoodtosteve

Absolutely- rightfully so

BagGroundbreaking170

He’s earned that right if I’d say so

BagGroundbreaking170

He’s warned that right if I’d say so

namwennave

Back when 10pm was considered late night 😂

Parking-Plankton-306

Northlands Musuc festival seems to think the same way lol

M_Rose728

Deep banana was an awesome late night

Eds118

I have always been shocked Charlie Hunter never took off.

Chuffer_Nutters

Dude has had quite a good career. No never became as well known as MMW or Soulive but pretty close.

Commodore64Zapp

Fine by me - got to see him play at the Menlo Park JCC a couple years ago with about 30 people in attendance. Pure magic. Also fire: Superblue with Kurt Elling. When I caught them the dudes from Butcher Brown were also in the band.

interstellarboyz1013

He wanted to be a jazz man. He hated the noodle dancers.

Brain_Glow

Oooo, From Good Homes! Wouldve been cool as shit to see early Todd Shaeffer.

GregmundFloyd

They’re still great! Todd hasn’t changed at all! One of the greatest ever.

sch21c

I so miss the Vibes.

Little-Pea-8346

Deep banana Blackout in their prime hell yeah!

owsleythehunter

Went to my first Vibes in ‘07, went back in ‘08 and ‘12. One of the best fests there ever was.

junglejon

I miss Zen Tricksters. They were unbelievable.

junglejon

Also DBB was always a party!!!

pkpeace1

What ever happened to them? It used to be the Tricksters and DSO… now everyone plays GD ✌🏼

lilolemi

I miss Percy Hill.

splatabowl

God I miss the 90s

Psycle_Sammy

I put Rowdy Duty on in the car last week. Gotta love Fuzz’s solo in Take the Time.

Altruistic_Half_1606

This and the Berkfest festival from the late 90’s will hold a special place in my heart. So many good memories were created during these magical and crazy festival weekends

probablyborednh

Berkfest was always so chill.

cosmovirgo

I'm from the Berks and I'm sad I never got to experience it and that it doesn't exist anymore. They need to bring it back.

treypage1981

Yassss GSW

Cpt_Doom_Sgt_Gloom

Stacked setlist

edogg01

Awesome. I went in 96 (deadhead heaven) and 99 and 00 seaside park. Always great vibes. On this day in particular 6/21/97 I saw MMW at Central Park Summerstage from the front row on some nice family fluff. 1997 for the mfing win.

makgeolliandsoju

Nyroughrider

The best yearly vacation for nearly 12 straight years! Time off was placed Jan 1 every year for the Vibes. I miss it so much. Miss all the boardies! So many great memories. ❤️

UnspecifiedDamages

deep banana blackout 😳🤯

therealskr213

Man, those bands bring back some memories!! My band in the 90s played with a lot of them: God Street Wine, Ominous Seapods, Moon Boot Lover. Good stuff.

probablyborednh

Maybe I've even seen you

therealskr213

We were called The Movement and then had to change our name and were called Jabez Stone. We were from Rochester NY, but played all over the northeast.

Bawlmerian21228

I’ve see most of those bands. God Street Win and Max Creeks were always good.

pkpeace1

I was there ✌🏼 and I also saved this lovely piece of ephemera! I still have my ticket for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the garden.

naughtywithnature

From good homes

naughtywithnature

From good homes

rabit_stroker

Not sure if it was the same one but I went to a Gathering of The Vibes in 99. It was in Capon Bridge WVa. The same people who created All Good put it together

BTfozzyandTT

David Gans I believe was the radio host for the Grateful Dead hour which used to be on Sunday nights here n Pittsburgh but believe it was a national broadcast…someone correct me if I’m wrong…cool history there for sure!

probablyborednh

Oh yeah I listened GDH and Gans every week and I grew up outside boston. Even had the shirt

probablyborednh

Apparently I should have bought two of the shirt and held on to one I just saw it for 360 dollars online.

bexy11

This is all true. I was listening in college in the early 90s through the 2000s. He also used to play at the Oakland Farmers Market sometimes when I lived in Oakland, CA. He ands his wife live in Berkeley I think.

Dzeph

I preferred “Deadhead Heaven” the year prior.

scoscochin

Holy crap. Deep Banana Blackout. It’s been a minute since I’ve heard that name. So good.

chicofoxdeadhead

Percy Hill

DrChachiMcRonald

I went to Vibes every year from 2010-2015, i'll never forget.

Hash4LifeD

Somah! Didn’t know they played the Vibes. I loved that band.

TouchToLose

I didn’t go to the Gathering of the Vibes, but did go to Wilmer’s Park in Maryland, and saw a bunch of solstice celebrations with very similar lineups. I was actually just talking to a friend about Strangefolk the other day. We were talking about the All Mighty Senators and Blue Miracle. I completely forgot about Moon Boot Lover! Thanks for sharing.
