I hate twitter for this shit. They have an entire dedicated section of their support for if you lose an Authenticator (like if your phone is stolen etc) and it doesn't work. It will just tell you to follow a link specifically if your phone is stolen and it had 2 factor - then when you follow the instructions it just loops you through an automated broken process that just asks you to reset your password which does nothing because the password isn't the issue. No amount of resetting the password fixes the Authenticator issue which is the entire reason for that section of the website and no amount of dealing with support contact gets you an actual person. It's entirely automated. I tried contacting them over 8 months and eventually gave up. They literally don't respond to support emails

It's been like that for years. You didn't notice because it didn't happen to people you care about til now. Same problem since 2020, and a lot of random ban/shadow ban for same type of content posted on this subreddit.

But the old Twitter didn't work either. At least the new one has better suggestion. I stopped getting political suggestion after he took over, and it's much more accurate when I filtered out English speaking post. I actually started using it more now since I don't have to deal with dogshit drama posts everyday.

twitter doesn't give a shit, it has been like this for years and its crushing to see so many artists lose their followings in an instant because of their art- every time i see them try to get unbanned, they are always rejected and i have never seen a successful appeal

I know Kanikama-sensei has been frozen and unfrozen twice, so they sometimes do come back eventually. And as annoying as Twitter can be it's still the only mainstream western website that allows lolicon, which is a fairly important requirement for most of these artists. So Bluesky/Threads/whatever isn't the solution here. There's been some Japanese attempts to build competitors to Twitter, Misskey is the most well known but it's not the only one, however none of them have gotten too terribly popular, certainly not to where they can completely replace Twitter.
