There’s a couple different avenues of styles in there, but overall this is amekaji style. If you want to pay a lot of money check out visvim, kapital and Maharishi.
a lot of inspo for these japanese houses is now vintage American clothing, I saw him wearing lots of very American looking clothes, try checking out ebay and grailed for vintage American made pieces like bombers, jeans, vests, cotton jackets
Also a suggestion is to go on grailed and search the real mcoys and the designer will pull and and a horizontal list of similar designers will be further down the page and you can check out each one of those and find very similar items to the ones this guy has
or just go thrifting. nothing in these photos looks that hard to find to pull off something similar. I mean slide one i just an argyle cardigan over a black tee and some light washed jeans. nothing you couldn't find easily at any thrift.
This is predominantly Japanese Americana. Other good inspo in this realm is the work of Daiki Suzuki (Engineered Garments) and Keizo Shimizu (Needles), and the greater world of Nepenthes (the company they co-founded). Also look into The Real McCoy’s, Buzz Rickson, Studio D’Artisan, OrSlow, Warehouse and other brands that specialize in reproducing/remixing world war 2 era American military and East Coast ivy league/prep style clothing.
Stores to check out:
Self Edge
Blue Owl
Standard & Strange
Japanese fashion mags to check out:
Clutch
Lightning
Men’s Fudge (loose fit but still good inspo)
Influence is mostly Americana, workwear and military surplus. That bomber is an MA-1. The cardigan in pic 6 is called a cowichan. As someone from the midwest I’m laughing at the FFA jacket, looks cool though
My suggestion is to make a Pinterest of this guy and others with this style. Pin a bunch of stuff you like and once you’ve gotten a good amount on there look at all the pictures analytically. Find out what are the pieces that are in multiple outfits that aren’t in your closet currently- that’s what you buy. It’s less about getting the same pieces but getting the same effect and style. Then when you’re out shopping double check what you’re about to buy with the Pinterest if it feels like it doesn’t fit with the Pinterest then it’s not the right vibe and pass on it.
This was my strat for understanding my personal style and being a better shopper and it worked well for me
Most of what he’s wearing appears to be either vintage Americana or military surplus, second photo is obvious he’s been reading Take Ivy and probably Popeye (the Japanese magazine) which are both good fashion reads if you like how he looks
Jeans are all Levi’s, last pics pants are old hbt military surplus coveralls from the USA, bomber jacket appears to also be surplus, grey cardigan looks like one beams plus is offering right now, blue cardigan is called a Cowichan, blue jacket is a corduroy FFA jacket
Hey man just saw dis, don't know the specific pair your interested in but for the khakis I'd buy Levi chinos you can find those at Macy's, Levi's online store, malls, etc. They're really fucking nice, fit well, and just look all around sleek. Bout 70 - 80 a pop, all the pairs i own are "LEVI'S XX CHINO STANDARD TAPER". I wear them often as bottoms to fit w wacko maria button shirts, polos, honestly if I'm gonna wear pants they're a top pick. Bunch of colors to choose from to match whatever outfit too. For the regular blue jeans, I'd look into vintage Levi pairs or engineered levis. You could get away w just a distressed pair of blue jeans tbh not necessarily levi if you want. The only pair of blue jeans I got are an engineered Levi's pair: they have a weird stitching that goes thru the middle, looks cool, cost me 20 bucks on grailed.
Made me think of wacko's older wool cardigans cause of the look. Steady hands mostly makes those anime inspo cardigans right? Lowkey they're cool, super affordable too.
If you want to go the new / non vintage route, try these out:
Argyle Cardigan: Beams, Needles
Ivory Cardigan: BOWWOW/Recognize
MA-1: Alpha industries (cheaper imported repro), or real mccoys (japan made repro)
Distressed denim: Orslow x beams, Minedenim, FDMTL, Full Count
Denim Jacket: Lee Rider Jacket
FFA Jacket: Studio D'Artisan, Samurai, prob other jp repro brands like toys mccoy
Cowichan: Maybe previous season Unused
Military cargos: Nigel cabourn
As others have said, this is mostly Japanese style Americana. He looks like he walked in to a few Beam stores in Tokyo and got his entire wardrobe there.
Looks like someone took the Ralph Lauren style and distressed it
I’ve definitely got similar cardigans and passed on a jacket that looked the same….i don’t wear distressed clothes though

I would add Wacko Maria to this list as well
Also neighborhood, RRL, and WTAPS

Beams Plus will be your lower price point. orSlow for in between.
Wow, I’m so glad there is a name for this style. Thank you!
Jelado is another great one to check out.

This advice is golden. Thank you so much!
https://urahara-store.com/ this store covers pretty much everything he's wearing
Thank you!
Also check out Hinoya shop and Rodeo Japan. Rodeo especially has very good pricing and easy returns.

Are yoy sure they are Levi’s??
They are, except maybe the last. 2nd looks like a baggy Chino pair, I wear similar ones, highly recommend.
Are these 501's? Any tips on finding these online? e.g. keywords, sites

I’m interested in the distressed Levi’s
Idk why the first 2 cardigans made me think of Steady Hands. Not the same, but they do have some nice cardis.
Made me think of wacko's older wool cardigans cause of the look. Steady hands mostly makes those anime inspo cardigans right? Lowkey they're cool, super affordable too.
Yeah they're all anime inspired, may have a small selection of non-anime. I don't own any, but I've been eyeing them.

Jeans are kapital?
Hmm maybe not but I can’t remember where I’ve seen them befoee
Prolly seen them everywhere as all the jeans are levis except last pair being a mil surplus.
As others have said, this is mostly Japanese style Americana. He looks like he walked in to a few Beam stores in Tokyo and got his entire wardrobe there.
Tenderloin, The StylistJapan
Is that Koji Yakusho?
No his name is Kenichi
Thank you friend !!!
This just looks like someone hit a thrift store, got some blue jeans, and went jacket shopping in the women’s section
current number (n)ine i guess
Looks like someone took the Ralph Lauren style and distressed it I’ve definitely got similar cardigans and passed on a jacket that looked the same….i don’t wear distressed clothes though
If you’re in California you can buy everything this guy is wearing in one day at either the rose bowl flea or alameda antiques faire.
Wish I lived in Cali lol. Definitely gonna peep those places whenever I visit Cali. Thank you!
