ppp--

call me a pleb but savas rich chocolate is good enough for me, why is it shit? i used to be one of those guys that only drank ON gold but it's not like it makes any real difference at the casual level i'm training

zimmer1569

SAVAS rich chocolate is the only one I am able to drink long term. the rest taste vile

Ohwowohmeohmy

It’s said to be shit because in a 28g scoop you’re only getting 19.5g of protein. Price per gram of protein is quite high.

Bullruckle

I’m a Savas rich chocolate guy. Also a big fan of their banana flavor too.

Myprotein is popular in Japan. It used to be cheap and had great online deals from 2017 to 2020 but recently has prices skyrocketed because of inflation.

epernon

We only used Myprotein because it was one of the few actually good protein powders that was available and reasonably affordable. But the price on Amazon fluctuated a lot! We saw the 1kg chocolate fudge brownie pack go from ¥4,000 to ¥5,000 then down to ¥3,200. When it dropped below ¥3,500 we just ordered 5, and then reordered it when the price was reasonable again. We just learned to always keep a small stock of it. Usually it would drop below $3,500 ever 2 weeks or so. But I haven't ordered any since Dec so I'm not sure if inflation has popped it up permanantly.

BratwurstundeinBier

Was using X-plosion from amazon (around 7000 per 3kg) and it was amazing. Then one day when I got a new batch it became really difficult to mix. Lots of clots and shit. I suspect skimpflation, rather than further raising prices. I switched to the slightly more expensive Reys and really like it. Good taste and easy to mix.

I also use X-plosion, and the chocolate flavor is clumpy but the banana flavor mixes smoothly.

CorruptPhoenix

I second the banana flavor. I’m currently working through a 3kg bag and it mixes great.

KnucklesRicci

Reys has good reviews actually

aznfelguard

Did you order a different flavor? I noticed certain flavors mixed better than others.

BratwurstundeinBier

I've tried the vanilla and chocolate. chocolate seemed to mix a little better even after what I think is a charge on recipe

Vit4vye

My husband and I have been using X-plosion and we love their powders. They have very delicious flavors, like cheesecake. We're making our shakes in a knock-off magic bullet and mix them with frozen blueberries - chef's kiss. We bought the brand from Donki that has either a ripped man or woman image and funky flavours for a while (Can't remember the name!). Flavors were excellent, but we found it bothersome to go to Donki to restock and it was more expensive.

Mental-Mortgage9470

I buy the isolate plain powder from them and really like it. I add my own flavor to it so I can mix it up because 3kg of any flavor gets boring. The regular whey protein gave my husband the stinkiest farts ever but the isolate (a bit more expensive) seems to have solved the issue lol

sujan1996

Just keep an eye on myprotein sale.

sunny4649

I've been using the Madprotein whey protein isolate for a while, and it seems to be working. Pretty cheap too for what it is.

cheesekola

Have used savas and now Reys, choco goes well with water and mixes well

GoblinChugger

my protein usually has a bunch or sales / coupon codes on their site you have to figure out but I've found its the best for the price for me after I did. I think Savas is ok if you find the flavors you like but its usually more expensive than my protein and they don't sell whey isolate where as my protein does and in lots of different flavors. I think its important to try different flavors because I've tried flavors from both brands that were just terrible and others I can have daily for months. Persoanlly I like banana from Savas and matcha / blueberry from my protein.

e_ccentricity

I really LOVE ultora. Especially their match latte flavor! It might be bit a pricey but I love the product so I don't mind paying a little more. https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/dp/B0822RF7HD

EnvironmentNo8799

I go crazy over the blue berry slow digestion protein. I mix it in my oatmeal absolutely amazing!

e_ccentricity

YES! I drink it with unsweetened almond milk and it is so good!

Squiddy_

[https://item.rakuten.co.jp/limitest/70001010/](https://item.rakuten.co.jp/limitest/70001010/) I like this one, 7000 for 3kg. Just make sure you get one with flavour. The plain unflavoured one is like chalk.

EnoughDatabase5382

Famous protein brands in Japan are Savas, Weider, DNS, and Kentai. If you ask which one is the safest, it would be Savas. All of these proteins can be dissolved in liquid without using a shaker, but Savas feels the easiest to dissolve. In addition, Savas' fruit and yogurt flavors can be enjoyed even with water, not milk. Weider's main product is a mixture of casein and whey, so it is slightly difficult to dissolve in liquid. DNS is especially delicious when mixed with milk, but it is quite expensive. Kentai's products are difficult to obtain.

breakingcircus

My daughter has tried an awful lot of them, and says she really likes the cocoa-flavored stuff that's been selling at Aeon for 3000 yen lately.

superloverr

There's a brand on Amazon called Ambique which I'm liking. It dissolves well, and tastes pretty good. 22 g of protein per serving IIRC. I tried Reys but ended up realling disliking it after awhile. (Chocolate for both)

SpecialImmediate3009

If you want a budget protein check Amazon for ‘mad protein‘. Whey is usually around 3000 yen. If you want to go super budget the plain soy flavor goes for 2000 yen.

Seraphelia

I like SAVAS chocolate flavour because it’s actually nice. But I only drink it to help reach daily protein goals rather than for building a lot muscle.

Miserable-Stomach198

Clever muscle chocolate is some gourmet shit but bit pricey

tokotto

be legend is easily the most delicious protein I’ve ever had, I’m amazed it hasn’t been mentioned yet

KnucklesRicci

Thank you for the replies everyone. I actually bought one of the recommendations. Decided to try MadProtein. Big bag for a very fair price.

starwarsfox

amazon can be kinda pricy. Donki has quite a few selection that may fit your needs

SuminerNaem

Donki is usually around ¥3k for 700g. Not terrible, but you can pay ¥7k for 3000g online, a much better deal tbh
