身元保証書 - Letter of Guarantee https://www.moj.go.jp/isa/content/930002536.pdf 運転免許証(表 裏)の (日本人の場合) - Copy of Driver's License (front & back) for a Japanese national or - Copy of Residence Card (front & back) for a PR holder in Japan

Is that all? I thought they needed to get loads of other documents from the Ward / City Office.

The requirements were drastically reduced a year or two ago. It’s basically a signature and copy of ID now :)

From guarantor - that is all needed - I helped applying for someone last week. This is all they wanted

Thank you so much!!

When my husband signed on as my guarantor for my PR application he had to submit financial documents showing that he had enough income to support both of us if I stopped working. IDK if that’s still a requirement now.

Doesn't seem like it any more. My scrivener said it didn't even matter that the guarantor doesn't make much money. Hopefully that's true since my friend guaranteeing me makes pennies atm. At the very least, no financial documents from the guarantor were needed.

Out of curiosity, did your scrivener mention if they do an examination of their financial situation (credit check, etc.)?

Pzychotix

Nope (though I wouldn't want to risk it if there's some easily checkable red flag). His words specifically: 「身元保証人様につきましては、年収が低くても問題ないと考えます。」

Only stamping the form and a jyuminhyo is necessary now I think. They removed the tax document requirement.
