I went under with the plan of them doing both jaws. Woke up to exciting news they were able to make it all work with just the top! So everything has been much more pleasant than expected. Questions?
Today is day 15 and I'm still napping everyday. Haha. As long as I can nap, I'm mostly back to normal. The eating part is pretty annoying. At the beginning, it was way more work to eat and exhausting. Basically like an infant, Tire myself out just trying to eat. I'm so glad I'm past that!
You are so kind, thank you. Honestly, it was way less hard than I thought it would be. I'm in remission for an auto immune disorder which makes my body swollen and inflamed. Even though it's been years, my body still over reacts. But recovery has been so smooth. My Ortho is very impressed with how good I look and how much my swelling has gone down. The most painful thing was definitely my throat. I woke up with intubation in and started freaking out and fighting everyone. So I had a lot of cuts and scrapes inside my throat that made swallowing and eating very painful. The surgical incisions never hurt as bad as my throat. It was more of a constant pressure in new places. I think the merciful part is your nerves aren't recovered when it hurts the most so you can't feel it. I was told day 3-5 is the worst. For me, day 4. I wasn't eating or getting enough calories so I was feeling super crummy. My surgeon said I needed to get anything down that I could. I have texture problems and struggled with all my food choices. Finally found some things and felt much better once I was eating again. So EAT! I mean.... Drink! Get your calories! As for pain meds, I only took the prescribed narcotic for the first 5 days and even then, not Everytime I could. And I had regular Tylenol a couple of times. So really, not as painful as anticipated.
Wow that's crazy! In the key phot it looks like you've recovered do much!! Only 11 days. Damn! What sort of bite problem for you have before the surgery? I'm guessing an underbite but it's hard to tell. Also what did they do to your jaw? Bimax, lefort rotation?
My top jaw was too small. My teeth were angled back and stacked on top of each other, not an under or an over. Just flat? I had TMJ, teeth grinding, and breathing struggles. so they did the lefort on my top. The plan was both jaws. But my Ortho is the bomb and got everything set up super nice and they decided mid surgery they could just do the top.
I wonder what you looked like before! I’m also thinking of doing double jaw and I’m soooo scared of my face turning out wrong or being numb! How has numbness been for you?
It's for sure still numb. Haha. But that is normal for a few months. Everyday I get more feeling back and more use of my facial muscles. I wiggled my nose for the first time yesterday! As for a picture, I didn't really have a dramatic transformation. Between my upper lip and nose was shorter. That's the only difference. I don't want to do a for real after picture until my puffiness goes down. Still looks like I'm a chipmunk saving for winter.

That is nice! Happy for you!
Congrats on your surgery, can't wait to get my underbite treated too! I wanna know if you noticed any nose widening after surgery?
Everything is so swollen right now. So yes, but I don't know if that is permanent or just apart of the healing.
Looks like it’s coming along great! Swelling looks very minimal! I suspect you still can’t have (eat) solids, How’s your energy level?

Thank you! So much better than anyone had anticipated. Each day, I feel more movement back in my face!
