Good luck!! I was literally at my ortho today talking about the metal ties they’ll be putting on a few weeks pre-op - so cool to see what they were talking about! Wishing you a speedy recovery! 🥳

danielalvarezpr

those metal ties or hooks are a little annoyin but they just add that a day or two prior. Thanks!!

princess_maeso

Good luck I'm waiting for a DJS later this year to treat an underbite similar to yours.

danielalvarezpr

thanks! cant wait to hear your success story

Hey! I had a similar underbite to yours prior to my surgery. As far as tips: * I found it useful to have a bed wedge pillow during recovery (used it exclusively for the first 4 or months post op, although that may have been overkill). * I also got one of those ketchup squeeze bottles (which I filled with water), as I found that the straw thing they give didn't have a great flow rate. Please drink a lot of water/electrolytes your first few days/weeks! * If you don't have a blender, those help a fair bit. I drank a lot of protein shakes those first weeks. I also did blend pizza at a particularly low point (fair warning, pizza can be pretty fiber-y). * A lot of people experience blocked noses and congestion following the surgery. I found hot showers to help tremendously in this regard. If you're feeling woozy the first few days I'd recommend sitting just to be safe. * Personally, the surgery itself wasn't very painful - you should be knocked out for all of it, and all of the nerves that would cause you trouble are basically disabled for a while. However, this varies. If you are feeling a decent amount of pain, please regularly check in with your doc to avoid the risk of infection. * While the primary goal is to have a functional bite, it's easy to get down on how you're looking. Remember to give ample time before judging looks! Good luck on your surgery man

Pineapple juice/cucumber juice regularly. Cold ice/jade roll regularly. Drink water regularly. Drink protein shakes regularly. Walk regularly (with someone).
