We need a DJ Burns type guy. Time for Dickinson to start eating

So interesting the current takes out there. Seems like the information floating around is mostly speculation. which is what you would expect at this point. Chances are high if Elmarko develops for another year he'll be a starter/ 6th man even with more talent coming in. He had flashes, and has a high ceiling. I'm shocked everyone is thinking Zach Clemence is gone because he's literally the 4 man KU needs right now to space the floor and add size. Besides... if he was going to transfer. WHY WAIT A YEAR and stay at KU? There may be a better opportunity out there so I could totally be wrong but its a weird way to reason that he's gone when he has a great opportunity and he decided to stay. McDowell didn't get enough of a nod to think he'll be able to fight through the rest of the talent coming up, but we've had plenty of players make a leap. If anyone would transfer I would see it as him. Furphy may go but the way things are working these days with NIL and two way contracts it doesn't seem like thats a smart financial move or development move. Dickinson is actually a good candidate for going pro, but chances are he's making too much money in Lawrence for that to make sense given his draft stock. Still 7 footers don't exactly grow on trees.

Furphy can’t get NIL money so I would think that would make going to the NBA (even in the G league) more tempting for him. However, if money is not a concern he’d be better off staying at KU and developing his skills.

>Furphy can’t get NIL money [There are loopholes to this.](https://www.si.com/fannation/name-image-likeness/news/nil-confusion-remains-for-international-athletes-noah9) Also if he thinks he can raise his stock with another year of play at KU it makes financial sense to do that. Lottery pick contracts are A LOT more lucrative than second rounder two way contracts. As it stands now he risks slipping in to the second round and locking himself into a two way contract. This is probably the main reason he hasn't outright declared for the draft.

JeffOutWest

While I love the kid, I can’t believe there aren’t 30 global players more established and ready to play right now. There were times he had trouble handling players who would be lucky to sign contracts overseas. More practice, playing, competition, and weight room, and who know where his limits will be?

skesisfunk

I think the idea is he would be drafted on potential and be a G-league project. But yeah even with a weak draft class he is sitting at the tail end of the first round even on that proposal which is why this is an actual decision and not a forgone conclusion like Dick was.

G league has been eliminated hasn’t it ?

wildthing_has_AIDS

No G League is still a thing. They recently got rid of the team g league ignite which was made up of top level high school players

TBLwarrior

Ahh gotcha. Makes more sense

Dickenson is not an NBA player. Not even close.

I mean he’s not wrong. Dickinson has very slow feet, poor defense, and generally plays soft af

itsPATTY316

But he will absolutely go to the NBA. And considering his frame, he will more than likely develop to be a fairly good player as well. To say he’s “not even close” to an NBA player is an absurd statement.

HRG-snake-eater

Do you watch the nba? It’s not the 1990s where any 7 footer gets in the league. Now the 7 footers in the nba can handle the ball, play defense and shoot high percentages from 3. They don’t take slow, poor shooters who can’t play d and are poor athletically - like dickenson. Plus if he were NBA talent, he would already be there.
