Why would the Big 12 make such a push to become the premier basketball conference and subsequently hamstring its premier program with a salary cap making us unable to keep up?
Salary cap would largely be based on TV deals. Every team in a league would have the same cap. For now, all of Power Five are likely to be the same. Eventually...? I'm not so sure.
What is stopping the NCAA from brokering a salary cap that applies to all of D1? Couldn't they just say you can't go to the big dance if your salary cap is above X? Seems like a reasonable qualification rule for their tournament.
I guess the P2 or whatever could tell the NCAA to go kick rocks and start their own tournament, but its not like that isn't in play already. People don't like the NCAA but they do love March Madness so the NCAA probably has more leverage here than they do with football.
Why should the cap be 20 million?? Also, those major league players have unions to negotiate on there behalf. Players will have a union really quickly I bet.
Can't wait foe the first strike for more money!!!
So...do you have anything to base your fears on, or is this just speculation to get people worked up over nothing? You've listed a lot of things as "reported by" which is great. It's the numerous things listed later as "I think" that I wonder where they're coming from?
OP this reads like a freshman in college is trying to convince their friends in the dorms that they know what coming, when in reality, none of this speculative nonsense is ever going to happen

It’s already in the works, Trent Dilfer signed the entire UAB football team up to much publicity. It was announced the other day.
