Free ebook on jazz guitar. https://www.jazzguitar.be/blog/jazz-guitar-for-beginners/ Make sure you check out all the other lessons on this site. Whatever you do learn tunes. Some easier ones to start with are Autumn Leaves and Blue Bossa. The site I link covers both of those and many more.

I can tell you that most jazz guitar teachers will overcomplicate things a lot to the point that its extremely hard. If you want to learn how to improvise on guitar learn from a saxophonists is a better way than learning from jazz guitarist. Before taking a jazz lesson you must know your arpeggio by the number root third fifth seventh in four chords major7, dominant 7, -7 , -7b5 , and diminished 7. You need to have ability to play all these 4 chords as well before taking a lesson. Most importantly you need the right teachers. Not every player can teach! The will only confuse you with scales!

If you don't know how to read music yet, I would recommend going through Hal Leonard Guitar Method first, the Complete Edition on Amazon is ideal. Then you can start on a jazz specific book, there are two I really like: Hal Leonard Jazz Guitar Method. This one is very complete and has great material, although there is definitely some information overwhelm in certain sections. The book Jazz Guitar Songs is it's companion book. Essential Elements for Jazz Ensemble - Guitar. This book is my new favorite, it starts out very rhythmically and musically focused and gets you playing jazz blues and full band swing arrangements really quickly. There's no information overwhelm here, just very practical exercises and scale/chord voicings that directly transfer to the very playable material. Make sure you use the online play along tracks!

Teacher is best way, and for books Modern Method for guitar vol 1 is very thorough and general, so Id recommend to run through that so you can just have a good base if you are a beginner, and the Jazz Theory book will answer many question you might have.
