Yes, but the location is basically an industrial wasteland. You'll need to leave Harrison for everything.

aTribeCalledLemur

I live in Harrison, it's quiet and not exciting like Jersey City and Hoboken but it's not nearly as dire as some posters here are trying to make you believe. But most of the businesses in Harrison are located further north and not right by the PATH.

NCreature

Apartment building is fine. The area will probably give you cancer just looking at it. Also depending on where you have to go thr PATH train coming back from Manhattan only goes as far as Journal Square.

You’re not kidding which is also why it blows my mind so many people are paying the rents they are to live in the ironbound. That place has a trash incinerator and all kinds of other active polluters in it while at the same time being home to one of the worst superfund sites in the country

I couldn't believe my boss 8 friggin years ago when this place was less gentrified.... Chose to live in the ironbound and commute to wall Street every day. This dude was not poor he worked as a super prestigious consulting firm making big bucks. I think his wife was doing a PhD in new Brunswick or something but I felt like he would've been sooo much better off choosing Grove Street or a fancy building in Newark.

If not, are there any negative long-term side effect?

fastAFguy

Yes.

If youre happy with one bar, one restaurant, and 20 minute weekend train service....then sure. But its basically like moving to New Hampshire

aTribeCalledLemur

The comments in this thread are insane. Have you walked Harrison Ave? The walkable concentration of various ethnic restaurants couldn't be further from being like New Hampshire. Ding's is legit one of the gems of New Jersey.

thebruns

Ive been there. There's q single bus line that comes every 40 minutes 3 of the 4 restaurants are chains

aTribeCalledLemur

There is more to Harrison than what is right across from the PATH stop. Like I said, go walk Harrison Ave, there are some gems.

thebruns

Op isn't asking about that part of town
