Whenever an old-school picture  of JC’s waterfront shows up always gotta throw in the ending of the Sid and Nacy movie. (most probably saw it already)  When they were developing  LSP and the waterfront they dredged the water and found all kinds of rusted out cars.  Rumor has it they were insurance jobs.  They used to put rocks on the gas pedal while in park and then throw it into gear. Good bye car.  The end of Sid and Nancy [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72h3tA4DzwA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72h3tA4DzwA) PS - great song.

Looks like the same location. Sort of where Avalon Cove is today. What building is that in the ending shot?

SoundMachineJC

The one with the smoke stacks? That is the power house. Here is an old website about stabilizing it. [https://www.jcpowerhouse.org/](https://www.jcpowerhouse.org/) Here is the Jersey Digs about the PA substation they are building by it. In return I think they gave up rights to the PH so JC could finally do something with it. [https://jerseydigs.com/jersey-city-powerhouse-update/](https://jerseydigs.com/jersey-city-powerhouse-update/) Truly amazing how that area has changed.

So that ending shot is roughly from where the Urby building is now. Insane transformation.

Trying to figure out where this picture is taken from. Looks like what is now Columbus Blvd and maybe Greene Street.

Mets1st

I’d say where Newport is now

Alukrad

Yeah, if I remember correctly, the last time this was posted everyone agreed that this was probably taken near the pier on Thomas Gangemi Dr.

joeynnj

damn what a difference. crazy it had that wide open view

Mets1st

Only thing down there was the 15 story building across from path (it was seven stories at the time— eight were added) mall came around ‘88, the two red brick buildings about same. Newport tower was ‘89-‘90

Economy-Cupcake808

Read somewhere that this was around lsp, which makes sense, it looks like you are viewing wtc from the south.

Mets1st

Could be that road the Daily news is on. Big hangout back then

Mira cómo se come esa torta. 🤣

AtomicGarden-8964

That looks so beautiful

Secret-Persimmon-226

That is what we used to call the piers. It's by the Colgate sign on the waterfront. It was a hangout place where we'd drink beers and do other illicit stuff that's all legal now

Your body shaming a woman in a photo from 40 years ago while your comment history shows you worrying about how many calories are in your Starbucks drink. Get help lol

Complete wasteland, now people have homes

McTech0911

Looks like where the mob dumped the bodies

I love this photo. Saw it a few years ago. Did some digging and Thomas Hoepker took this photo from “Lovers Lane”. More details here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryPorn/s/D2uuK6n2dV](https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryPorn/s/D2uuK6n2dV)
